If you're struggling to get a good night's sleep,
Tossing and turning,
Waking up too many times,
Then you're probably like most people where the last thing you do is turn off your phone before closing your eyes for the night.
Well,
Remember when I said that the way you go to sleep is the way that you wake up?
If you're interested in cultivating and nourishing theta brainwave,
My favorite technique is mindfulness meditation.
And my favorite teacher of mindfulness is one of the world's living treasures.
He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King Jr.
The Vietnamese mindfulness guru Thich Nhat Hanh teaches that when enough is enough,
Whatever's going on in your life,
When enough is enough and it's affecting your sleep,
Then it's time to turn to mindfulness.
It may be best to do this right before sleep,
But we can also do it right now.
So close your eyes and follow these mindfulness instructions.
Breathing in,
I know I'm breathing in.
Breathing out,
I know I'm breathing out.
Breathing out,
I know I'm breathing out.
In,
Out.
Breathing in,
My breath grows deep.
Breathing out,
My breath grows slow.
Deep.
Slow.
Breathing in,
I'm aware of my entire body.
Breathing out,
I ease my body.
Aware.
At ease.
Breathing in,
I calm my body.
Breathing out,
I love my body.
Calm.
In love.
Breathing in,
I smile to my entire body.
Breathing out,
I relax my body.
Breathing in,
I smile again to my entire body.
Breathing out,
I release all the tension in my body.
Smile.
Relax and release.
Breathing in,
I imagine that I'm like a flower.
Breathing out,
I feel fresh.
Flower.
Fresh.
Breathing in,
I imagine myself like a mountain.
Breathing out,
I feel solid.
Mountain.
Mountain.
Solid.
Breathing in,
I imagine myself like water,
Reflecting the clouds in the sky.
Water.
Reflecting.
Breathing in,
I merge with infinite space.
Breathing out,
I feel absolute freedom.
Space.
Freedom.
Breathing in,
I taste the source of peace and joy.
Breathing out,
I feel peaceful.
Joyful.
Peaceful.
Breathing in,
I dwell in this present moment.
Breathing out,
It is a perfect moment.
Present moment.
Perfect moment.
And you can stay in this perfect moment for as long as you'd like.
