Details

Welcome to the Silent Day Retreat at Owlet Plantation! Join us for a day of tranquility and self-reflection. Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in peaceful surroundings. Take this opportunity to disconnect from technology, quiet your mind, and connect with nature. This retreat is the perfect chance to recharge your batteries and find inner peace. Leave your worries behind and embrace the silence. You can expect to start the day with a meditation to help us arrive in our presence in this calming woodland. This will be followed by a silent slow wander to observe, acknowledge and absorb our surroundings. You will need to bring a journal with you for writing prompts and you will also enjoy “sit spots”. Sit spots are what they say, sitting under a tree or along side the water and staying in that spot for 30 minutes in silence. This day lets you remain in the safety of a group whilst coming home within yourself. Bring a packed lunch and water with you. (Please note that there are no public toilets within this woodland) Let the serene atmosphere of Owlet Plantation guide you on a journey of mindfulness and relaxation. Don't miss out on this unique experience!

Location

Blyton, United Kingdom

Gainsborough is a historic market town in Lincolnshire, England, set along the River Trent and known for its rich heritage and traditional English charm. The town blends cobbled streets, period architecture, and a strong sense of local community with easy access to surrounding countryside and river walks. Home to the medieval Gainsborough Old Hall and a lively town centre, Gainsborough offers a calm, grounded atmosphere that balances history, nature, and everyday conveniences in a distinctly English setting.

Owlet forms part of the Coversands Heathland that once covered large parts of northern Lincolnshire. Over the years, birch has naturally grown on the site, and woodland has developed. Remnants of the heathland can still be seen from the circular surfaced path. Visit in summer to see lots of butterflies, including the purple hairstreak, small copper, and brimstone.

Schedule

This is a day of slowness, natural silence and Nature therapy throughout the entire day. We will meet in the carpark at 10:00 where we will introduce the day. You will be asked to remain silent throughout the day and to remain digital free until our final closing around 3pm in the afternoon. Starting the day with a meditation to help us open our senses, heighten awareness and to step gently into the presence of Nature. We will stroll slowly further into the woodland, observing the smaller unique elements that we often miss completely. Finding your own space; under a tree, by a log or where ever is comfortable for you we will start our first period of stillness. The afternoon will bring a guided exploration through writing. Exploring how our inner and outer landscapes mirror and reflect and the insights that this brings to us. We will have a further period of stillness before coming together for our closing session. A small tea ceremony and a chance to share our experiences of the day.

Meditation, Nature and stillness - this has been absolutely blissful

I have always wanted to do a medicine walk but did not have the guts to do this on my own, this was great as I felt safe in the group and yet I had my own space and silence. Maria held our group together all day
