Sound Bath Sessions 088: Minnie Cheung
Minnie splits her time between travelling South America, Mexico, HK and the rest of the world actively seeking and learning about the cultures there and their ancient beliefs of the power of nature, sacred rituals, and exploring our own consciousness. She brings her crystal bowls with her during her journeys which, she admits, does add to the anxiety but I can only imagine how special its fragile, pure tones must sound amidst such raw and ragged surroundings. she vocalizes and sings in harmony with the bowls. The first recording I placed the mics on the floor as one would hear when lying in front of the bowls. The way she plays the bowls as she swipes the rim lets it ring at a certain point so that it sounds as if she strikes it, but without striking it. It sounds like a reversed audio sample and something I never noticed before. Intentional or not, it sounded pretty nice. This recording I mounted the mic on a stand instead of on the floor.
