In today's episode,
We are going to talk about what is the purpose of the purpose.
Why the purpose exists in the first place?
What is the objective of having purpose?
If you see,
Everyone who's trying to understand their lives better,
Who's trying to decode the mystery,
They're just trying to make sure that they are on the right path.
And one of the ways they consider is to find the purpose.
I'm sure you would have also been in the same place where you would have wondered what the purpose of your life is.
But before we start to go deeper and understand what the purpose of your life is or how you can find that,
It is important for us to understand why the purpose exists.
So today we are going to look at nine steps of evolution that will help you understand why the purpose exists.
So let's get started.
The very first reason the purpose exists is to realize that there is suffering and that you are trapped.
It may come across as negative statement to you.
It may come across as pessimism to you.
But if you look deeper beyond the surface of the statement,
You will realize that in this life there is suffering.
In fact,
We spend our lives on making sure that we don't have suffering and we try many things.
We run behind things.
We run behind advices,
Suggestions,
The path someone walked before us successfully,
Things that we consider to be wise.
We do all of that just for one thing,
To avoid suffering.
You may very well say,
I don't do everything to avoid suffering.
I do for my pleasure to fulfill my desires.
And my response to you would be,
Why do you have desires in the first place?
And where do the desires originate?
If you have everything,
If you are everything,
Would you still have desires?
Well,
Let's look at it this way,
What is that we desire?
Do we desire something that we already have or we desire something that we do not have?
Do we run after something that we don't have or we run after something that we have not yet achieved?
Except for exceptional cases,
You will find out that we run behind things that we do not have.
Then where is this understanding coming from?
How about when you know that you do not lack anything?
This understanding comes from you believing that you lack something.
Because if you have everything,
You do not have to get anything.
But if you do not have something,
You will desire to have that.
So when you look deeper,
You will realize that there is suffering in this world.
Different religions talk about these sufferings differently.
Some religions talk about the human lives as sinners.
Some religions talk about this life as a testing ground where we need to prove our worth.
Some religions talk about this life or the human form as the opportunity for us to attain our purpose or get away from the suffering.
Very sincerely,
I would say that the very reason we exist in this form is because we have lost our direction.
We have chosen a path of evolution that has taken us in this form and we are trapped in this body.
And we find ourselves in this cycle and we try to find out how to break that.
The sooner someone realizes that it is a vicious cycle because a soul never dies,
It's the body that dies.
So soul can go on assuming different bodies,
Taking different births,
Unless we realize that each time we take birth,
There are sufferings.
Because we associate ourselves with the body,
We associate ourselves with the people around us,
We associate ourselves with the possessions that we had in a particular body.
And when it comes the time for us to leave the body,
It becomes painful.
Because something that we consider to be permanent turns out to be temporary.
So the whole reason there is suffering because we consider things to be permanent when those very things are temporary.
And that is the first reason why there is a purpose.
Because if there is no purpose,
There will not be any realization.
The second reason the purpose exists is to help us find a path so that we can get away from these sufferings.
I can very well quote Buddha or Gautam Buddha as we call in India,
Who explained when he got enlightenment that they are suffering in this world.
But in the very next statement he mentioned that we can get away from those suffering.
Why did he say that?
Because it is possible for us to get away from those suffering.
In fact I will go one step further and I will say that the evolution is that after the realization we invariably,
Naturally start to get away from suffering.
When we realize that something that we consider to be real is not real,
All our attachment and attraction to that thing somehow no longer influence us or generate that emotion or those emotions in us.
Like a toy that we had in the childhood,
Like a world we used to consider when we were a child.
We live in the same world but we look at that world very differently.
So the second reason the purpose exists is so that we realize that there is suffering in the world and there is a way to get away from those suffering by not paying attention.
And how do we not pay attention?
That's the third reason why purpose exists and the third reason is breaking the shackles of the illusion.
So when we realize that there are suffering and we can get away,
We start to discern what is real versus what is not real.
And we start to distinguish between things.
We start to categorize things either in good or bad or in something that helps you progress or something that stops you from making the progress.
We start to categorize things in terms of what is that can take you in that addiction of something.
Maybe that thing we call life or what is that that may take you away and what is that something that may take you away from this addiction that we call life.
So when we start to break that illusion,
When we start to move away and we start to see beyond the surface a bit deeper,
We start to understand that there is more to life than what appears.
We start to understand that we may be only seeing things from a perspective but that may not be a complete picture.
There may be other perspectives.
So that's the third reason why purpose exists.
The fourth reason or fourth step in evolution is so that we learn the right lesson.
So after we have realized that there is illusion and we realize that we have to break the shackles of the illusion,
We focus on learning the right lesson.
We may learn some lessons to be better in the physical world,
In this material world.
We may try to fulfill our desires in different ways by learning those lessons.
But we have to learn the right lessons,
See those patterns to get away from the illusions of this world.
So when we start to look deeper,
We start to slow us down from running behind one thing or another or start to question when our mind wants something,
We start to ask the right question.
If I give you a very simple example,
If you have noticed if you are watching something,
Maybe a YouTube video or a movie or a series,
You invariably be eating something or feel like eating.
Have you wondered why that happens?
And even if you have eaten something before you started watching,
You somehow feel like eating.
Sometimes that happens with people when they talk on the phone.
And when you pay attention,
You will realize that this has nothing to do with the hunger.
It has everything to do with the pattern.
By the habits,
We have trained ourselves to eat when we are distracted by either the television or those conversations.
Have you ever wondered why people end up eating all the unhealthy things when they are depressed or when they have anxiety?
The pertinent question would be,
Why do they not eat something healthy when they are anxious or depressed?
And here lies the case of understanding what is the right lesson.
So the fourth reason the purpose exists is for us to understand the right lesson.
The fifth reason why the purpose exists is the growth of the life form we know as soul.
So after we have realized that they are suffering,
We start to get away from suffering by breaking the illusions,
By learning the right lesson.
Naturally,
We start to grow.
Not just in this body,
We grow as a soul.
We start to see the real world,
Not within the confinement of this body,
Not within the boundaries of the physical senses that we have,
But we start to use our other senses.
We start to use our intuition.
We start to use that untapped world,
Which everyone is not able to access because they are so busy in the physical materialistic world.
That world that requires us to pay attention to who we are and spend time in understanding who we are by following some practices where we can have an introduction to our real self.
When we start to learn the right lesson,
Our soul starts to grow and we get more and more away from this physical materialistic world.
We start to discern what is illusion versus what is real and we start to move away from illusion towards the real.
And when that happens,
We do exactly what the sixth reason for the purpose is,
Which is realizing the absolute truth.
When we move closer to the real,
We start to realize what this world really is.
We start to realize who we really are.
We start to realize how things actually are.
And we start to realize that something that we considered as real was actually a dream.
Something that we considered to be boundaries was actually not there.
Something that we considered to be a snake was actually rope.
And when we realize the truth,
We are no longer restricted by those illusions.
We are no longer confined by the boundaries of the physical senses or the physical limitations or the physics,
Biology or chemistry of this body.
We start to see ourself as who we are.
And when that happens,
When you realize what is the absolute truth,
Is that the end?
No.
In fact,
When you realize what is the absolute truth,
You move on to the seventh stage,
Which is staying in the forever bliss.
While for many people,
That is the ultimate goal.
And for you,
Maybe that is the ultimate goal.
But can one go further?
Absolutely.
Once you have realized who you really are,
Once you realize what this world really is,
You no longer are affected by the sufferings and you are in that blissful state.
If you choose to be in that state,
You can be in that state forever.
Because for the soul,
It never gets born and it never dies.
A soul is never destroyed.
And when you stay in that realm or that world where there is no concept of something starting or something ending,
How relevant the time is,
Time becomes irrelevant.
And when the time becomes irrelevant,
Words like forever starts to make sense.
Because it is a state where you can be.
But like I said,
Is that the final stage?
No.
You can go further.
You can go further and reach the eighth stage,
Which is being with the one.
Which one I'm talking about?
I'm talking about you being with the one who created everything.
Who created the universe?
Who is only potent,
Only present and only shan't?
Without whom nothing exists.
Something or someone we define by different words,
Different expressions.
Religious people may define that to be a god.
Scientists may define that to be a dark matter or dark energy.
And for agnostic,
They may define it as a power.
No matter how you look at it,
No matter how you choose to define,
The very purpose of the purpose is that you reach that stage where you are with the one.
And when that happens,
You're no longer in the world where you see many entities,
A multipolar world.
There's the existence of just two,
You and the one.
Whatever name you may want to use for that one.
And the final reason,
The final stage of why purpose is defined or why purpose exists is so that we can attain something that we call salvation or moksha.
What is that moksha?
So many people use that word as liberation from the body when we are free from the birth and death cycle of the body.
The real meaning of moksha is to merge with the one and by merging,
Be the one.
And when I say be the one,
It means that the soul merges with the one.
In India,
There's a better description.
The soul is referred to as atma and the one is referred to as paramaatma,
Which means the soul of the souls.
So when a soul returns and merges with the divine,
The soul loses all its identity and becomes one.
And that is the final stage,
The final reason why the purpose exists.
So we can work towards being the one,
Losing our complete identity,
Never to be born again,
Never to be bothered again.
Starting from where we are,
Being trapped in the suffering,
Realizing that there is suffering and start to move away from that.
I will sincerely request you to contemplate on these nine stages.
And when you reflect upon these nine stages,
Why the purpose exists,
You will be able to uncover some of the things that you never experienced.
Now,
What you uncover depends on the quality of your inquiry.
The more persistent you are,
Or the deeper you go with your inquiry,
You will be able to unravel something that will help you move forward,
That will help you solve the mystery of what you're trying to solve.
And you'll feel comfortable with your journey and you'll have an optimistic outlook towards where you are headed to.
With the hope that today's episode has helped you understand why purpose exists,
What are the stages that one has to cover,
And where we are headed to,
You will be able to make progress in not just finding your purpose,
But completing these nine stages and achieving the purpose of your purpose.
So with the hope of your success and forever bliss,
Namaskar.
