In this gentle meditation we will delve into the powerful spiritual practice of surrender.
Be open to receive,
Become aware of what surrender could look like to you and then move to embody surrender as a daily practice.
Make sure you are comfortable and ready to relax into this experience and close your eyes.
Slowing down your breathing now and just letting gravity hold you,
Allowing your body to be supported where you are sitting or lying,
Grounding yourself deeply,
Very deeply into Mother Earth,
Surrendering to her embrace.
And as you breathe deeply,
In a way that is just right for you,
Notice your energy as you rest here and just allowing yourself to come to your center and to be in the present moment.
And with each complete breath in and out,
Traveling deeper and deeper within,
To a place of stillness,
To a place where you can physically relax more and more.
Noticing now the top of your head and relaxing it and then your forehead,
Just softening and now around your eyes even more,
Allowing this feeling of relaxation to flow down through your cheeks,
Into your lips and your jaw.
Loosening in this area,
Letting go,
Continuing to allow this feeling of relaxation and softness to flow into your neck.
Releasing your shoulders,
Your arms now and right down into your fingers,
Relaxing your chest and abdomen and softening into your pelvis and your legs and allowing this wave of softness and relaxation to flow all the way down your legs and into your feet.
Breathe deeply and go within.
With your eyes closed,
See,
Sense or feel the time and bright light of the universe pouring down from above.
Connect to the light,
To the energies of love and now breathing into your heart space,
Centering your attention in your heart space with slow,
Deep breaths.
Going within further and recognizing the light of your soul.
Open your heart to the fullness of who you are.
Surrender is often understood as giving up or becoming passive but it is definitely not submission.
It is actually an active process requiring presence.
Surrender is a practice,
A tactic and a way of being that is extremely nuanced.
Each of us will embody surrender in our own unique way.
So simply relax.
Let my words and thoughts wash over you because your mind and spirit will accept that which resonates.
Rearranging ideas so they are just right for you.
Surrender is amongst other things acceptance.
Acceptance of what your present reality is and who you are in the moment.
Surrender is amongst other things acceptance.
Acceptance of what your present reality is and who you are in that moment.
As you practice and embrace self-acceptance more and more,
Your perception shifts and you begin to release judgment and accept others.
The people we meet hold up mirrors to those things we like or do not like about ourselves and all that this mirroring asks of us is acceptance.
Surrender is an active process and it is about forgetting what you think you need and rather receiving and embracing what you truly need and what the universe is offering.
And then let's acknowledge that surrendering is not about diminishing ourselves and our abilities.
And then let's acknowledge that surrendering is not about diminishing ourselves and our abilities but rather it is a practice that is making us stronger.
Breathe into that now.
Feel yourself getting stronger and stronger each time you surrender a little bit.
Surrender is letting go and letting go requires repetition.
It is a muscle that you need to build that is in direct opposition to the muscle of attachment.
So as letting go becomes stronger,
Attachment will lose its strength.
So think now of something you feel you should release or let go.
Breathe in and on your long slow exhale let go.
Letting go more and more with every exhale as you continue to breathe.
Surrender is trusting,
Trusting in something greater than ourselves.
Trusting that things will work out for us in a way that enables spiritual growth or for our highest good.
Surrendering is a cognitive process of releasing attachment to outcomes.
As you relax in this peaceful moment,
Give your mind permission to stop with searching for and expecting the outcome you think you need.
Surrender is the art of letting life move through you.
Surrender is the passport to the inner state of oneness.
Surrendering to a higher version of yourself or your soul or to the universe.
Because you are in the now immersed in the light,
In flow and return to your rightful state of oneness,
Surrender brings peace.
Trying to control everything is an exhausting fight.
When we talk about surrender in a spiritual and emotional context,
We see it is the way to freedom.
And perhaps the ego feels threatened now.
So consciously allow the ego and ego thoughts to be seen and then just for now let the ego go.
Breathe and release.
And now let's try to understand who or what we are surrendering to.
Yes to a higher power,
But what does that mean to you in your personal belief system?
Remembering that this could range from God,
The divine,
To your soul or your own higher self.
Spend a moment to look at your own personal beliefs now.
Who or what are you surrendering to?
Deep comfort and liberation can be found in knowing that you don't have to do it all alone or have all the answers.
You have the support of something greater than yourself.
Trusting the universe means knowing that even in uncertainty every twist and turn is guiding you toward exactly where you are meant to be.
Perhaps your surrender is simply accepting what is in the moment and letting go of anything else.
And surrender,
This very real process of space-creating,
Makes taking action so much easier.
Soften into this knowing and let all your energy receive the magic of the practice of surrender.
In the words from the Sativa Life,
Surrender isn't easy.
It asks you to let go of control,
To stop trying to shape every outcome,
Fix every flaw or chase every goal.
It is about sitting in the discomfort of not knowing,
Not fixing,
Not doing.
And in that space something vital happens.
You start to trust.
Not because everything is perfect,
But because you start to feel that you're supported by something greater,
Even in the mess,
Even in the uncertainty.
Surrender is perhaps the hardest thing you'll ever do,
But it is also the most freeing.
When you stop gripping so tightly,
You create the opening for everything you need to flow toward you.
You don't have to force it.
You don't have to chase it.
You just have to soften and let life meet you where you are.
Trust that the higher universal forces are always working for you and in your best interests.
Surrender,
Let go of control and fully trust in the perfect divine timing.
Believe beyond your thoughts,
Feelings and circumstances.
You are more than what you think,
More than how you feel,
More than what you know,
More than what you've experienced so far.
You are a living miracle and you are manifesting a new you with every breath you take.
Believe,
Allowing the peace and knowing that divine harmony is in every level of your reality,
Mostly when something appears to us at first to be wrong.
And that when we surrender,
It always proves to be for our highest and best good and a valid stepping stone in our journey.
And so surrender to what has been and what is.
Allow the flow of your life to move through you.
Finally,
As you continue to breathe,
See,
Sense or feel the bright light of the universe pouring over you and through you,
Energizing your being and transmuting any and all remaining stuck or low vibrational energy into love and light.
Leaving you cocooned in pure source energy,
Pure love and pure light.
Smile as you begin to return to the present moment.
Gently become aware of your body and once again notice your groundedness to Mother Earth.
Notice the holding and support and relax all your muscles.
Breathe deeply now,
Allowing the breath to nourish your body and wake up your cells.
And then,
Very gently,
When you are ready,
Come back into this now awake moment and open your eyes.

This was wonderful, thank you. So soothing. I’ve been very attached to a health outcome in a certain period of time. But that’s adding suffering to the pain from the health issue, as I wait for treatment to work. I’d rather spend this painful waiting time with a measure of peace, surrender, and trust, and your words were helpful in facilitating that. 🙏

A detailed dissertation on the various facets of surrender. The phrase, "...allow your life to flow through you..." resonated powerfully.
