Welcome to this Christian Breath of Life Meditation.

As you begin your new day,

Find a comfortable position,

Whether you are seated or lying down.

Gently allow your body to settle,

Feeling the support beneath you,

And let any tension begin to soften and release.

Take a moment to simply arrive here in this present moment,

Ready to connect with the God who sustains your every breath.

We aren't seeking to empty our minds,

But rather to fill our awareness,

Our hearts and our spirits with the tangible presence of God.

We are intentionally turning our focus towards Him,

Inviting His peace,

His truth and His love to flood our inner being.

Let us journey together into His divine presence as close as the very breath you are now breathing.

As we begin this new day,

Let's turn our hearts and minds to a powerful truth from Scripture found in Psalms 143 verse 8.

What a beautiful prayer for the dawn,

Inviting God to speak His love into our hearts and to illuminate the path for our day ahead.

It's a prayer of dependence,

Trust,

And a deep desire for divine direction.

This verse resonates profoundly with the ancient Hebrew understanding of God's intimate involvement in our lives through His very breath.

We find the concept of Nishma in Genesis 2.

7 where God breathed into Adam the breath of life and man became a living being.

This Nishma isn't just physical air,

It is the very breath of the Almighty,

The Spirit of God that animates and sustains us.

It's the divine life force continuously present within us,

Making God as close as our next inhale.

When the psalmist says,

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,

He's inviting this divine breath,

This Nishma,

To reveal God's character and affection.

And when he asks,

Make me know the way I should go,

He's seeking the guidance that flows from that same divine presence.

Our breath,

Animated by Nishma,

Becomes a vehicle for us to engage in Chaga.

Chaga is a rich Hebrew word often translated as meditate,

But it means much more than just thinking.

It implies a murmuring,

A low utterance,

Like a lion growling over its prey or a dove cooing.

It signifies a deep internal pondering,

A chewing over,

An intentional breathing upon something until it becomes deeply ingrained within you.

In this morning meditation,

As we engage our breath,

We are using it as an act of Chaga,

To breathe upon and deeply absorb the truth of Psalms 143.

8.

We are inviting the Spirit of God,

His Nishma,

To speak his steadfast love directly into our spirits with each breath.

We are asking him,

Moment by moment,

To make known the way we should go,

To whisper his wisdom and guidance for the day ahead.

This is not about emptying our minds,

But rather about filling every part of our being with the awareness of God's active presence,

His love,

And his perfect direction for our lives,

Available to us with every single breath.

Now let's move into a time of intentional breathing,

Allowing our breath to become a pathway for this divine exchange.

This is a moment to consciously receive from God and to release to him.

There's no need to force anything,

Just a gentle invitation for your body and spirit to align with his presence.

As you inhale,

Imagine you are breathing in God's steadfast love,

Just as the psalmist yearned to hear it in the morning.

Feel that love filling every part of your being,

From the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

This is his unchanging,

Unfailing love,

A promise for this new day.

With each gentle inhale,

Allow yourself to receive his wisdom.

The wisdom that makes known the way you should go.

Picture it like a clear light guiding your path,

Illuminating steps you might take,

Thoughts you might consider,

And attitudes you might embrace.

Breathe in his presence,

A peace that surpasses all understanding,

Settling over any unease or hurriedness you might feel at the start of the day.

And as you exhale,

Release any anxieties that might be stirring within you this morning.

Perhaps there are concerns about the day's tasks,

Worries about the future,

Or the lingering weight of yesterday.

Let them go,

Breathing them out into God's capable hands.

On your exhale,

Also release any uncertainties,

Any feeling of needing to have all the answers,

Or to control every outcome.

This is an act of surrender,

A heartfelt releasing of your need to direct every detail.

With each exhale,

Consciously surrender your plan,

Your day,

Your very will to God's guidance.

Remind yourself that you don't have to carry the burden of the day alone,

For his Ruach,

His Holy Spirit,

Is actively sustaining you,

Guiding you,

And empowering you in this very moment.

This divine breath is within you,

A constant source of life,

Power,

And direction.

Continue this gentle rhythm,

Inhale God's steadfast love,

Wisdom,

And peace for the day ahead.

Exhale anxieties,

Uncertainties,

And the need to control,

Surrendering all to his perfect guidance.

Feel his Ruach,

His Spirit moving within you,

An active and living presence that fills you,

Comforts you,

And directs your every step.

Let your breath be a prayer,

A deep communication with the one who knows your way,

Even before you do.

Allow the warmth of his love to settle deep within your spirit,

Reassuring you that you are held,

That you are loved,

And you are guided.

There is no shame in bringing your struggles or your uncertainties to him.

He invites you,

Moment by moment,

To receive his sustaining grace.

This breathing practice is not about perfecting a technique,

But about opening your heart to receive and release,

Trusting that God's presence is as close as your very breath.

Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest,

A quiet rhythm of dependence and trust.

His peace is saturating your mind,

His love is filling your heart,

And his wisdom is preparing you for all that lies ahead.

Continue to breathe deeply,

Anchored in his steadfast love and guidance.

As we gently bring our conscious breathing to a close,

Take a moment to simply rest in the truth that God's steadfast love has met you this morning.

Be filled with gratitude for his presence that has guided your breath,

For his wisdom that has shown you the way,

And for his peace that has settled your spirit.

Know that the same divine breath,

His Nishma,

That sustains you in this quiet moment,

Will carry you throughout your entire day.

His presence does not fade when you open your eyes or step into your daily tasks.

He is with you,

Moment by moment,

Breath by breath.

Remember that you can return to this practice any time you need to reconnect with God,

Whether it's for the full ten minutes or simply for three consecutive breaths of receiving his love and releasing your worries.

His divine breath is always within you,

A wellspring of peace and guidance.

You are never alone,

For the Holy Spirit is as close as your very next breath.

Go forth,

Carried by his spirit,

Knowing his steadfast love leads your way.

May his peace go with you,

May his joy fill you,

And may his wisdom direct your every step,

This day and always.

Amen.
