Welcome to this short call and response chanting session! Accompanied by the harmonium, I guide you through this powerful chant of "Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu". It means: may all beings everywhere be happy and free from suffering. This is a powerful chant to release yourself from suffering, and also to radiate that prayer out into the world to ease collective pain and suffering. I guide you through call and response, where I chant and then you chant it back. We do that a few times, and then eventually do it together. Don't worry about getting the words right or how the notes sound... just allow yourself to sing your prayers and intentions. Close your eyes and just get lost in it. The words are: Lokah — LOH-kah Samastah — sah-MAHS-tah Sukhino — soo-KEE-noh Bhavantu — bhah-VAHN-too Let me know how you like it!

Ok,

So this is a beautiful kīrtan chant,

Loka samasta sukhino bhavantu,

Which more or less means,

May all beings everywhere be happy and may they be free from suffering.

And we're going to do this in the call and response kīrtan fashion.

And so I'll do the entire verse and then I'll leave space for you to go ahead and do it back.

I'll do the entire verse,

Do enough space for you to do it back.

And if I ever say bolo,

It just means repeat after me.

And so really quickly we'll just go over the words just so you kind of feel them in your body,

Feel them in your spirit.

So it's loka samasta sukhino bhavantu,

So you can repeat that after me,

Loka samasta sukhino bhavantu.

So again I'll chant first and then you'll repeat it back and we'll go for a little while and just close your eyes,

Don't worry about getting any notes right,

Don't worry about getting any words right.

Just allow yourself to feel the prayer,

Feel the chant in your spirit and in your body and you'll really feel that collective prayer for no more suffering,

For peace,

For happiness radiate out from you when you are done.

So take a deep breath in,

Take a nice big exhale.

Let's do that one more time,

Big breath in,

Big exhale.

Beautiful,

Thank you so much for chanting with me today,

Hope you'll come back.

Notice how you feel.

Much love,

Loka samasta sukhino bhavantu.
