A Novena is a Christian tradition of praying for nine consecutive days or weeks in order to fulfill a specific intention or petition. The word “novena” comes from the Latin word novem, which means “nine”. The Surrender Novena was given to the servant of God, Father Dolindo Ruotolo in the early 1900s, for you to pray NOW. People have received countless graces, blessings, and timely miracles, both spiritual and material. Welcome to our 9-Day Prayer Challenge. This is Day 5.

Good morning.

God morning to you.

What are you holding on to today?

Do you have your Bible?

Or your rosary or your mala?

Maybe you're simply holding your heart,

Hand over your heart.

I do that a lot at church.

It's a better posture for me to get into the Spirit than even folded hands in front of me.

One hand over my heart.

That's how I hold on to Him.

Anandamayi Ma says holding on to Him,

Everything comes of itself.

I walk on the beach like this.

I have my little Bible in my hand.

It fits in my palm.

It's not practical for reading,

But I told you I just like to flip it open and read.

And it's just the New Testament and Psalms,

So none of it is scary.

There's no Old Testament,

No old-time religion in this little book.

But even when I don't have the book pressed to my heart,

Just that hand,

Here I feel Him.

There's a gorgeous little prayer that comes with promises of blessings that says,

Sweetheart of Jesus,

Be my love.

Sweetheart of Jesus,

Be my love.

Jesus,

Be my love.

Say that or just the words,

Be my love while you're touching your heart or while you're holding those beads.

Remember,

They only look like beads.

That's God you're holding,

But that's also God you're sitting on or walking in or breathing in.

That's God you're listening to me on.

This is one of God's voices.

Say I love you.

That's another one of God's voices.

All you ever hear is God.

You just have to know how to listen.

All you ever see is God.

You just have to learn to see,

Not with those eyes,

But with your heart.

How does it feel knowing He's in the room?

And notice how every time you hear God's in the room or Jesus is in the room,

You immediately think of Him being outside of you,

Sitting across from you or beside you,

Maybe even behind you.

Someone at a recent meditation retreat told me that's how He shows up,

For them,

Behind.

And none of those are wrong.

They're all right.

But what I want you to start experiencing immediately when I say God is in that room,

In that space,

Is recognize that He's within you.

He's looking out of your eyes.

And when you're feeling love,

You know that's Him looking,

That's Him feeling,

That's Him living.

And when you're feeling that disturbance,

Any minor disturbance,

You just say,

Jesus,

You take back over.

I'm sorry.

I love you.

That's almost hoʻoponopono.

Is that how you say it?

I never learned how to say it,

Even though I practiced it.

That Hawaiian affirmation said,

Thank you.

Please forgive me.

I'm sorry.

I love you.

Even when I was practicing that all those years ago,

I was saying those words to Jesus,

To the Christ,

To myself,

Capital S.

I'm sorry for trying to do it myself.

Please forgive me.

I love you.

You're all I need.

Thank you for taking over.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for being here.

For praying with me,

Praying for me.

I'm praying for you.

I pray for you before I get on this mic every morning.

I make the sign of the cross on myself.

I make it over the mic.

And I ask God that you may feel him while you hear these words,

That he may comfort you,

That he may show you that there is nothing to fear,

That he may relieve your suffering.

I've been so scared my whole life.

I don't want that for you.

I was born afraid,

Consciously afraid of dying as a child,

A little child.

And that fear just changes over time.

The only reason why we fear water or spiders or heights is because we're afraid that it's going to kill us.

The water is going to kill us.

The spider is going to kill us.

The height is going to kill us.

We're going to fall.

Even unworthiness.

That's fear of death too.

Feeling unlovable.

If a baby is unloved,

It dies.

We only have one fear and we have to lay the axe at the root.

We have to recognize that eternal life is here.

That's the promise.

Whatever you're worried about,

You're not really worried about it.

If you follow it all the way back to its origin,

You're worried you will not exist,

That you will not survive,

And that body won't.

But you always have.

You always are.

I always am.

Say that and feel the truth.

Say it until you know the truth.

I always am.

In him.

If you've been feeling desperate lately,

Good.

That's a sign that you're close.

That you're not even close,

You're here.

You'd have to be not here to be close.

Ryan Miller says Jesus only performed miracles under one condition.

From the water turned to wine to the healing of the paralytic,

You cannot find a single example of a miracle without this.

Of course,

Every miracle requires faith.

But there also had to be one circumstance present in the person's life.

Desperation.

So if you feel like the situation you're in is hopeless,

If you feel too far gone,

You are primed for a miracle.

You are primed for realization.

He says his heart is one of a father in search of a prodigal child,

A shepherd in search of a lost sheep,

A physician in search of the sick.

Prayer wins battles.

It changes things.

It has changed you forever.

These novenas that we do,

These prayers that we pray,

These songs that we sing,

This peace that we feel,

I know it feels like a struggle.

And I know it feels like one struggle after another.

But right now I want you to close that body's eyes and reach that hand out in front of you and feel what's here.

Lightly touch what's here.

I have my hand outstretched towards you.

We're feeling the same thing.

We're breathing the same air.

Although it looks like we're under different roofs,

We are under the same sky held in the same gaze.

You're touching him.

Not with that physical hand,

With eyes closed.

There's no physical hand there,

Just sensations.

Feel that vibration.

Silently,

No commentary.

The mind can't get this.

It won't get this.

It will even think it's silly.

That's just the serpent in your ear.

Ignore it and feel.

It distracts you so that you can't feel,

So that you won't remember.

I'm here.

And I hear you.

And I love you.

I'm holding you.

Always.

You just have to reach out and feel me,

Whether with that hand,

Or with your heart,

Or with your words.

Jesus,

Take it.

And I'll hold it.

I'll carry it for us.

I want you,

But you have to let go.

You have to let me.

Let me be me.

This isn't for you to figure out.

This isn't for you to solve.

Relax.

Just for this moment.

And feel the solution.

Don't think the solution.

Feel the solution.

Feel the resolution.

Feel the miracle.

Here now,

Not later.

You're not looking for something to come from out there.

You're feeling it here now.

I pray your arm is down.

And it's probably tired.

But notice what's not tired.

Notice what is never exhausted.

You can't lose.

You won't lose.

I've got you.

And when I must lead you on a path different from the one you see,

I will prepare you.

I will let you find yourself like children who have fallen asleep in their mother's arms on the other bank of the river.

What troubles you and hurts you immensely are your reason,

Your thoughts,

And worry,

And your desire,

At all costs,

To deal with what afflicts you.

Those are Jesus's words given through Father Dalindo Ruatolo.

And now we pray 10 times.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything and hold on to this feeling of love while you speak these words.

Speak the words,

Pray the words to that love,

To that silence,

To this peace.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Smile.

Speak this prayer through a smile.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

Oh Jesus,

I surrender myself to you.

Take care of everything.

And now we pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mother,

I am yours now and forever.

Through you and with you,

I always want to belong completely to Jesus.

Amen.

I ask you again,

What are you holding on to?

But this time I'm asking,

What is it that you know you need to let go of so that you can start new?

Jemima Rivera says,

Don't be afraid to start again.

God sees you and he knows that you're trying.

Just take it one step at a time.

It doesn't need to be perfect immediately.

And do that next one thing that God is asking you to do.

Obey,

Even if it feels impossible for now.

Because if God is the one who called you,

Then he will equip and provide for your needs.

You are never too late to have a brand new start again.

God writes brand new stories because he's a God of redemption.

Trust him and let go of everything but him.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

And keep your Bible or your prayer beads near you.

Keep them in your pocket.

It's like having God in your pocket.

Do you know who my father is?

That's what I think all day.

And then I rest in that.

And the rest comes.

Everything comes from that.

And Micah 7 7,

It says,

But me,

I'm not giving up.

I'm sticking around to see what God will do.

I'm waiting for God to make things right.

I'm counting on God to listen to me.

This is how you know God is listening to you.

Right now,

I want you to say,

Jesus,

You take over.

And just hear those words.

Jesus,

You take over.

If you heard only those words inside,

Even if there's ambient sounds,

Even though you're hearing my voice,

Even if there's a car alarm going off outside,

If there's no other words in you,

No other thoughts in you,

But Jesus,

You take over.

If your whole being is in agreement,

When the two of you that you think you are is one,

Meaning no secondary train of thought,

Not praying,

Jesus,

I surrender myself to you while thinking about what you need to do as soon as you're done praying.

Now,

When your whole soul is praying,

Jesus,

You take over.

And you hear that.

The hearing is Him hearing.

It's Him listening.

It's Him answering.

In truth,

It's Him praying.

It's all Him.

And that includes you,

Which means you are blessed.

You are everything.

I cannot speak words without hearing songs in my head.

As soon as I said you are everything,

I heard Drew Hill.

And with that,

I will leave you.

But I never leave,

Truly.

I'm always here.

And we're always practicing.

I love you.

And we'll chat soon.
