In this session, we reflect on Rumi’s poem “This Is How a Human Being Can Change”, using its imagery of fire as a symbol of inner transformation. Through gentle guidance and meditation, you’ll explore the power of surrender — releasing what no longer serves and creating space for clarity, warmth, and renewal.

Hello and welcome to day three.

Thank you for joining me once again.

Today we will be looking at the poem,

This is How a Human Being Can Change.

Today we explore transformation.

The fire that purifies.

Not the forceful kind,

But the quiet,

Necessary letting go.

That opens space up for change.

Rumi reminds us that we don't need to make transformation happen.

We simply have to stop resisting it.

This is how a human being can change.

There's a small fire in the chest.

Feed it with truth and it grows.

Let it burn what's no longer needed.

You don't need to move mountains.

Just stop throwing water over your own flame.

So often we try to stay the same.

We grip old habits,

Protect old stories.

But life wants to move,

To flow,

To change.

Transformation isn't a threat.

It's a homecoming.

So let's try to soften around that today.

Let's allow the fire to do what it does best.

Clear the space for something new.

Find your breath again.

Steady.

Calm.

Feel it in the chest.

The heart space.

That's where your inner fire lives.

Visualise a small steady flame in your chest.

It's not destructive.

It's warm.

It's wise.

It's ancient.

With each inhale,

Feel the flame glow a little brighter.

And with each exhale,

Let it release what's ready to go now.

This is the fire of clarity.

It burns away all that is false.

Not with force,

But with love.

What might this fire want to release today?

Thought?

A fear?

A pattern?

You don't need to force it.

Just offer the flame what you want it to cleanse.

Let go.

Let the flame clear space.

It is safe to transform.

It's safe to let go of who you were.

Now,

Simply breathe with it.

Be the space around the fire.

Calm.

Steady.

Open.

Transformation doesn't require effort.

Only surrender.

Only trust.

Let this moment burn quietly.

Not to destroy,

But to renew.

Rest now.

Let the fire become a soft glow in your chest.

A warmth you carry with you.

Clear.

Open.

Alive.

As Rumi writes,

Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop.

Whatever you have released today,

Trust it was ready.

That fire inside you knows what it's doing.

Thank you so much for joining me once again today.

Tomorrow,

We will be looking at Rumi's poem,

Out Beyond Ideas.

Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Go in peace now.

Namaste.
