Megan Layton is Director of Simply Mindful and a senior Meditation and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, Yoga & Self-compassion teacher. She is also a Mental Health Social Worker, therapist, and certified trainer in Positive Neuroplasticity, endorsed by Dr Rick Hanson. Megan discovered mindfulness on the road to burnout and has since made meditation a central part of her life. With almost 30 years in mental health, including torture trauma rehabilitation, research, training, and leadership roles, Megan brings deep experience and compassion to her teaching. She has facilitated life-changing programs for diverse organisations, from the National Gallery of Australia and Federal Government Departments to schools, community groups, and global tech companies. Nature lover, ocean swimmer, and mother of two, Megan is passionate about helping people move from surviving to thriving. She is now deepening her meditation personally and as a teacher through the Australian Insight Meditation Institute’s teacher training and mentorship program. She regularly sits, manages and facilitates retreats. She is also always developing her therapeutic skills and loves bringing these two rich fields of knowledge and practice together; mindfulness and meditation for the work of waking up, and therapeutic modalities and psychology for the work of growing up. Both together are potent vehicles for releasing limiting patterns and opening up insight, choice, change and freedom.
