This meditation on prana as the source of creation.
The outcome for this meditation is to understand prana,
The connecting energy of the inner and outer world.
Also to journal your insights.
Prana is a cosmic life force and it is a bridge linking all beings.
The shift from the external ritual to the internal realization happens as you begin to understand the interconnectedness of all things.
The koshas that are introduced during the pranic understanding are five fold and they are known as sheaths.
The physical sheath,
Which is the physical gross body,
The gross and dense body.
There is then the vital body,
Which is the energy,
Which is powering the gross physical body,
Also referred to as the etheric body.
There is the mental body,
Which is the mind and the thinking body,
As well as the wisdom,
Understanding body,
And the bliss body,
Five in total,
The physical,
Vital,
Mental,
Wisdom,
And bliss body.
Asato ma sad gyamaya,
Moving from the unreal to the real.
Take a moment to consider where you feel your breath as you think through your koshas,
The physical,
The vital,
The mental,
The wisdom,
And the bliss body.
We will explore the breath as the source of creation.
Each inhale expands outwards and each exhale returns to the source.
Observe the natural breath without controlling it.
Feel the air entering the nostrils,
Lungs,
And abdomen.
Feel your body grounded on the seat supported by the earth.
Observe natural inhalation and exhalation.
Notice subtle movements,
Belly rising,
Chest expanding,
Air flowing in and out of the nostrils.
Allow breath to be your anchor in the present moment,
Expanding as you inhale and retracting as you exhale.
Observe each inhale and imagine each inhale as cosmic expansion.
Visualize golden threads of light radiating outward from your heart and connect these threads to every living being,
Every tree,
Every star,
Light and life flowing outwards with each inhale.
Imagine exhaling energy back to the universal source.
Dissolve tension,
Fear or heaviness with the outgoing breath.
Sense yourself as part of the cyclical rhythm of creation and dissolution.
Hum a soft OM after the peak of each inhale.
Let the vibration resonate through your body,
Subtle energy and surrounding space.
Exhale silently,
Allowing energy to flow naturally.
Slowly scan each of the five sheaths,
The physical sheath,
Annamaya,
Feel your body alive.
The vital sheath,
Pranamaya,
Feel energy moving with the breath.
The mental sheath,
Manomaya,
Notice thoughts without judgment.
The wisdom sheath,
Vijnanamaya,
Sense insight and clarity.
The bliss sheath,
Anandamaya,
Feel connected,
Peaceful and joyful.
Merge inhale and exhale cycle with awareness of all life.
Sense golden threads linking you to the universe.
Rest in stillness for a few moments,
Feeling unity.
Take three deep conscious breaths.
Slowly open your eyes and bring gentle awareness back to the room.
