Welcome back.

My name is Samantha Linden,

Also known as the Blissful Soul.

This is day two of our series,

Happy Hormones,

A 30-day gut reset for women.

If you haven't started from day one yet,

I highly recommend doing so to maximize your success and understanding.

Today we'll be talking about blood sugar.

This morning,

You should have tested your blood sugar,

Also known as glucose,

With your monitor.

If you don't have one yet,

That's okay.

However,

Monitoring your blood sugar is a good indicator of your metabolic flexibility.

Normal fasting sugar levels should be between 70 and 90 milligrams per deciliter in the United States,

Or 3.

9 and 5.

0 millimoles per liter outside the U.

S.

These levels are typically lower in the morning due to overnight fasting.

High sugar levels may indicate stored sugar from a previous high sugar diet,

Which the body stores in the liver and as fat.

If your levels are above this range,

Don't worry,

You're on the right track.

It means you have room to improve your metabolic flexibility,

And this lifestyle will help you monitor your progress.

As I mentioned yesterday,

You should check your levels twice,

Once when you wake up and again before breaking your fast.

Your levels should be decreasing.

If they're not,

It could indicate that something is breaking your fast,

And you might want to investigate further.

For example,

Black coffee or tea shouldn't break your fast,

But it might for some people.

Or perhaps you're using a sweetener that doesn't break the fast for most people,

But does for you.

Identifying these factors can help you make the necessary adjustments to be successful.

If you need a refresher on which sweeteners to use in your coffee or tea,

Refer to day four of the prep week in the playlists on my profile.

We'll discuss items to help you extend your fast and curb your hunger tomorrow.

We'll also address common questions people ask me about fasting and whether certain items break the fast.

Test your blood sugar when you wake up and again before you break your fast at 13 hours tomorrow.

You're doing great.

Keep up the good work,

And I will see you tomorrow.
