This meditation is for those who are tired of fighting their shadow.
The shadow is the part of your personality hidden deep within your unconscious.
It emerges when we feel irritation,
Fear,
Shame or anger.
Sometimes it speaks to us through panic attacks,
Unexplained anxiety or a sense of emptiness.
Carl Jung said that the shadow is not your enemy.
It consists of those aspects of ourselves that we don't acknowledge or have rejected.
The shadow can appear frightening because it wears masks.
The mask of anger,
Fear or disgust.
But behind these masks lies treasure,
Strength,
Creativity and inner energy.
This meditation will help you stop fighting.
Instead you will go inward to gently remove the mask to see your shadow for what it truly is.
This journey will show you that even in the darkness there is light so you can uncover hidden treasures of your soul.
Let's begin.
Sit or lie down comfortably.
Let your body settle into a state of rest.
Close your eyes.
Feel the breath flowing in,
Filling your body with inner peace.
And flowing out,
Bringing a state of relaxation.
Now,
Turn your attention to your body.
Feel the surface beneath you,
The way your body connects with it.
Notice how gravity gently holds you.
Notice the gentle pulsation in your body,
Perhaps in your hands,
Your feet or your chest.
Allow this relaxation to spread throughout your body.
Like a soft wave flowing from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Feel the heaviness in your body.
Feel its warmth.
Breathe.
Just breathe.
Just be.
Just be.
And now,
Imagine a spiral staircase before you.
Its steps twist downward,
Deep into your unconscious.
This staircase is old,
But solid and reliable.
As though it was built just for you.
Take your first step.
Feel your feet connect firmly with the step.
Take another step.
The sounds of the outside world begin to fade.
Step by step,
You descend deeper and further.
Each step brings you closer to your true self.
The air grows heavier,
Warmer,
As if you're entering something ancient,
Something sacred.
Step by step,
The spiral leads you deeper and deeper into yourself.
And now you see a door ahead of you.
The door is old.
Its surface cracks with age.
Its handle is worn but sturdy.
Behind this door lies something meaningful.
Something is waiting for you.
You open the door.
Before you lies a corridor.
The walls are lit with the flickering glow of candles set in old candelabras.
Their warm,
Inviting light guides your way.
You walk down the corridor,
And at the end,
You see a room.
You enter the room and notice it resembles an old,
Forgotten basement.
Dusty shelves surround you,
Filled with things that were once important,
But are now covered in layers of time.
In the center of the room,
Illuminated by the soft glow of a candelabra,
Is a mirror.
The mirror is covered by a heavy cloth,
Hiding what's within.
This place has been waiting for you.
This mirror has been waiting for you.
Behind it,
Your shadow is waiting.
You step closer.
Gently,
You lift the cloth,
Uncovering the mirror.
You look into the mirror.
What you see belongs only to you.
This is your shadow.
Simply look,
Without judgment.
Allow yourself to see it as it is.
Now,
Take a moment to ask your shadow a few questions.
The answers may come to you as words,
Sensations,
Or images.
Give your shadow the space to respond in its own way.
The first question.
What is your purpose in my life?
The second question.
What are you trying to show me?
The third question.
The fourth question.
What can I learn from you?
And finally,
Ask your shadow.
How can we work together?
How can we find harmony?
And now,
Feel free to pause this recording if you wish to spend more time communicating with your shadow.
And look at your reflection once more.
Feel the boundary between you and your shadow dissolve.
You reach out your hand to your shadow and it reaches back.
In this moment,
You feel a connection.
A unification.
The energy of the shadow flows into you,
Becoming a part of your being.
It is no longer separate.
No longer distance.
You feel stronger.
More whole.
You see yourself as you truly are.
Complete.
Powerful.
And balanced.
You have always been this strong.
Thank this place for revealing itself to you.
Take a step back and notice how the room begins to fade from view.
You walk back through the corridor,
Past the flickering candlelight.
You arrive at the spiral staircase once again.
Step by step,
You begin to ascend.
With each step,
You feel the present moment returning.
The air becomes lighter.
The sounds of the outside world reappear.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Feel your body.
Feel yourself here and now.
Your shadow will always be a part of you.
But now you know it is your ally,
Not your enemy.
Thank yourself for taking this journey today.
And know that if you ever wish to return to this space,
It will always be waiting for you.
I'd like to close with a quote from Jung.
One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light,
But by making the darkness conscious.
