Take some time to sit down now.

Make yourself comfortable with your feet on the floor and your hands on your lap.

Take a gentle deep breath in and out and close your eyes.

This meditation is about noticing and stepping back from our everyday thoughts,

Being mindful of our everyday thoughts.

Begin to rest your awareness on your breathing,

The flow in and out.

Notice the gentle movement of your stomach and your chest,

Moving with the flow in and down and up and out.

With your eyes closed and your awareness on the flow of your breathing,

You start to connect a little more to yourself.

And with less distractions,

There is a tendency to dwell on the thoughts that pop in and out of our awareness.

These thoughts are just forms of energy.

Trying to hold on to the thoughts adds energy.

Trying to push the thoughts away adds energy.

And here in this moment,

You can notice the thoughts and step back from them.

Become the observer of your thoughts.

And in doing so,

You start to notice the repetitive nature of your thoughts.

You start to notice how trivial the majority of these thoughts are.

And as you step back and observe these thoughts,

Without giving them extra energy,

These thoughts start to lose their hold over you.

They start to dissolve.

They start to move further away.

And you begin to realize that in this moment,

Here and now,

You have much greater control than you ever thought.

And so bringing your awareness back into your feet and giving them a little movement,

Bringing your awareness into your hands,

Giving your hands a little movement,

Taking a deep awakening breath.

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes,

Bringing back a sense of mental clarity.

Noticing my thoughts helps create distance and diffuses the negativity. Realizing I am not my thoughts is grounding for me.

I think that may have helped? I cleared my mind and up popped something important that I really needed to remember. I had to stop to write it down but then I could focus better.

Excellent insight about the chakras as as metaphors for different forms of our unconscious mind.
