Inti Raymi Prelude To The Sun, Flute Solo And Andes Mountain
by Carlos Carty
"Inti Raymi: Prelude to the Sun" is a piece born from introspection, not from noise. More than an outward celebration, it is an inner dialogue with the star that has guided the Andean peoples since ancient times. There are no dances or crowds here; only waiting, silence, and reverence. It is the prelude to the ritual. The melody is performed by the great Sergio “Checho” Cuadros on the quenacho, whose deep sound seems to rise from the very core of the earth. His song flows freely and spontaneously, accompanied only by the solitary breath of dawn among the sacred Apus of Cusco. As for me, I took care of the sound design and mixing, seeking for everything to flow with the natural grace of the Andean wind. The result is an atmosphere suspended in time, like those cold early mornings that come before the sun’s first light. A prelude, yes. But not just any: the prelude to Inti Raymi.
