Meditation is to examine every aspect of life totally,
Not fragmented.
For most people,
The life has been fragmented by thoughts.
Most people are living in thoughts.
The life is full of all kinds of thought products.
The pleasure is from thoughts.
And the tradition,
The culture,
Everything is based on pleasure,
Which is actually based on thoughts.
Thoughts are always fragmentary.
Thoughts are a bunch of neuron paths running in a specific region of the brain.
And thoughts are always local to that small region,
Small space of the brain.
Thoughts are now total,
And it is not possible to be total at all.
In thoughts,
The mind always compares.
Compare this thought with another thought.
Because the very movement of thoughts is comparison.
So for people who are living in thoughts,
They are living in comparison in all kinds of subtle ways.
So when the mind compares,
The mind is seeking pleasure.
The success,
The achievement,
The proudness,
The vanity are all the consequence of comparing.
And the mind derives a lot of pleasure from thoughts,
From that comparison.
At the same time,
The mind is inevitably confronted with fear.
Because the pleasure from that thoughts,
That comparison,
Is transient.
It can only stay for a while.
When the mind wants to make it stay as long as possible,
Wants to make it permanent,
So the mind is into the seeking mode,
Seeking more pleasure by being engaged in more comparison.
