**Note: Truth does not always sound pleasant. If the mind is not really peaceful now, it might not be a perfect moment to listen to this podcast, one has to be aware of the emotions or reactions that can block one from listenING ATTENTIVELY and with HUMILITY. This talk is a meditation practice. What one needs to do is listen attentively, without getting stuck in words, examine the mind in silence, no agree or disagree, just look at the mind as it is. Doing so is already a meditation practice.

Transcript

The mind keeps making all kinds of images.

In our daily life,

From the paintings in the museums,

The paintings on the wall,

To all kinds of sculptures outside,

All kinds of photos,

Drawings.

They are the examples of the mind which is so capable of creating all kinds of images.

Of course,

Not only the images on the painting,

But also all kinds of images on the mind,

The mental image.

Those ideas,

Even the language itself,

The symbols of the language are all images.

The mind reacts to the image and new images are triggered,

Old ones.

But the images trigger more images and the mind can easily be trapped in all those images.

Take the language for example.

The language itself are symbols,

The combination of symbols.

The symbols themselves,

Also the combination of the symbols are also images.

We give meaning to these images and these images trigger more images on the mind.

That's why we can communicate,

We can speak,

Because every time we use the word,

The expression,

Some images are triggered,

Are evoked on the mind.

We can understand the meaning while using the language.

We can also imagine,

Think,

Which are all creating all kinds of images.

That's the power of the human brain.

But the problem for us is that we don't understand the relationship between these images and the self.

We rarely examine those intricate relationships.
