Allowing yourself to come into your preferred meditation position for today.
Perhaps sat straight up with feet flat firmly on the ground,
Spine beautifully straight.
Perhaps lying down on the ground in Shavasana position.
Wherever you are taking a deep inhale through your nose and a releasing exhale out of your mouth.
Taking two more rounds of breath this way.
Deep inhale.
Releasing exhale.
Inhale deeply.
Exhaling fully.
Returning to your normal breath.
Allowing your breath to easefully move in its natural rhythm.
Allowing yourself to drop into your body like a pebble dropping into water.
Becoming present to the here and now.
Feeling the back of your body,
Your feet pressed firmly into the ground.
Noticing the temperature of the air on your skin.
Noticing what you can hear in your vicinity.
Allowing the sounds to land on your whole body.
Perhaps the sound of leaves rustling in the wind outside.
Perhaps some birdsong.
Becoming aware of any light or shadows behind your closed eyes.
Expanding your awareness outwards to all the sensations you can feel in and on your body.
Sensations on the skin.
Internal sensations.
The heart gently beating to its own rhythm.
And the parts of your body moving with the breath.
Bringing your whole awareness.
And feeling the expansion to the rest of your body when you inhale.
And the contraction and the returning to centre on your exhale.
Expanding outwards.
Contracting to centre.
Expansion and contraction.
The rhythm of all living beings on Earth.
Each and every cell expanding and contracting.
Life force flowing in and out of your body as you breathe.
In your mind's eye.
Becoming aware that you are resting underneath.
A tall,
Wise old tree.
As the tree breathes in and out alongside you.
As you both expand and contract.
In a reciprocal rhythm.
Connected together.
As all life on Earth is.
Expanding,
Contract.
Connected.
To all beings.
And as you look up.
You can see the branches,
The trees.
Reaching up to the sky.
And all of the beautiful,
Luscious green means.
Rustling gently in the wind.
In the golden sunlight.
Dapples through the leaves.
Shining down and kissing your face.
Healing warmth of the sunshine.
Your arms.
Releasing and healing whatever it touches.
Warm,
Beautiful sunlight.
Drifting down over your belly.
Your legs and your feet.
Until your whole body is bathed in this beautiful,
Warm,
Golden sunshine.
As you rest peacefully under your tree.
Warmed by the same sun that gives life to all living beings on Earth.
Under the same sky that houses us all on this Earth.
A part of the universe to which we are all connected and belong.
The stars and the moon which we have all looked up in wonder.
From the sky above and the Earth directly below you.
Holding you.
Grounding you.
And like the great tree with its fruits growing deep into the air.
Aware of intricate mycelium.
Connecting each and every tree.
Looking out for each other.
You too are connected to each and every living being.
And your tree can help your neighbours tree.
And your neighbours tree can help their neighbours tree.
In a large cycle of interconnectedness.
Which we are all a part of.
Staying with this feeling of connectedness.
For a few moments.
We all live under the same sun.
We all walk on the same dust.
We all breathe the same air.
We are all one.
And the breath that connects the outer world to your inner world.
Merges.
Until you are boundaryless.
Expanding and contracting as one whole entity.
Taking a deep inhale.
Returning awareness to your body.
And thanking yourself for your practice.
And thanking your tree.
And thanking all life.
And gently when you are ready.
Wiggling the fingers and toes.
Inviting any movement that feels good for your body.
And blinking open your eyes.
And then you can begin to feel the light rising from your meditation.
And pause and Free
