Tucker & Leo | Mr Kitty Part 2

Get all snuggly and warm in your bed so that you feel comfortable and you can relax your body.

Make sure that the light is just right in your room.

Try not to wiggle too much.

Stay still and quiet.

Mr Kittens,

Kitty had been living at Leo and Tucker's house for about three weeks and he'd still not come downstairs.

I think he decided that Tucker was a bit dangerous and Leo was a bit unpredictable.

For one,

Tucker stood at the bottom of the stairs and barked a lot.

I don't think it was very inviting for Mr Kittens and Tucker was big and he was scary looking and it just wasn't going to happen.

But in the meantime,

Jenna visited with her dog Sam and Sam didn't get along with Tucker and Leo either.

Tucker said,

You know what Leo,

I don't think it's my fault.

I think it's everybody else's fault.

I'm a really good dog,

I am.

I'm so good and I'm so nice and I'm so polite,

Except with other dogs.

I'm actually really polite with you Leo and I think that's about it.

Everyone else,

Well you know,

I do get along with some girl dogs but it's the boy dogs,

Leo,

It's the boy dogs.

The boy dogs are just,

I don't know,

I just want to be boss,

I think.

You know,

You're my boss,

Leo,

You've always been my boss and because I was a puppy when I met you,

That's fine because I grew up and you're like my big brother,

Leo.

Leo said,

Well yeah,

That's like who I am.

I'm your big brother and I am boss.

Tucker said,

Yeah I know,

I know and I never questioned it because you were always so much bigger than me when I met you and then,

And then I was like just a puppy and I remember thinking,

Oh that must be my big brother and it was,

It was right.

You are,

You're my big brother but you know everyone else out there in the world,

They're not my big brother and I don't have to do what they say and you know us dogs,

We like to be top dog,

Don't we?

And I think I'm top dog when I'm outside of this house and everybody else thinks they're top dog and then before you know it,

There's fighting going on and it's not my fault,

Leo,

But sometimes it is.

Tucker said,

I just can't help myself.

Leo said,

Tucker,

You know,

Maybe just try and chill out.

You get too excited around these new dogs.

Sam seems like a very friendly dog.

I can't be bothered.

I'd rather just be on my bed,

Chilling out,

Watching a bit of telly,

Doing my thing.

I couldn't care less whether Sam or Kitty or anyone else was in the house as long as they leave me alone.

But you,

You just get too excited,

Tucker said.

I can't help it,

Leo.

It's my personality.

I'm an excitable,

Outgoing,

Boisterous kind of person and I can't help being that way.

It's just my nature.

And then,

You know,

I thought Sam and I would get along really well,

But it looks like Sam's not willing to let me be boss.

Sam doesn't want me to knock him around a bit and say,

Hey,

And bark at him and like growl at him and say,

Watch it,

Sam,

I'm boss in this house.

And I'm like,

I was trying,

I was trying to be friendly.

But,

You know,

Sam needs to know who's boss.

And if he doesn't think I'm boss,

Then I'm not going to let him think he's the boss of me.

So that means we were fighting straight away,

Weren't it?

Fighting we were,

Fighting in the hallway,

Like,

Who's top boss?

I'm top boss.

No,

I'm top boss.

I'm top boss,

Was what they were saying to each other.

And I was like,

Well,

There you go,

Sam.

We could have been friends if only you'd have let me dominate you,

Leo said.

Maybe you should just try and be friendlier instead of dominating everyone and being top boss and chewing on Kitty's heads,

Things like that.

That way we'd have more friends.

Kitty would be down here hanging out,

Being friends.

We could watch telly together and chill out and he wouldn't hiss and scratch at my face like he does if he sees us.

And Sam would be his friend.

Sam's nice.

I like golden retrievers.

They're always so nice and polite and really friendly.

Sam at this point was standing at the top of the stairs.

Jenna,

His mummy,

Had to go out and buy a baby gate.

There was a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs and a baby gate at the top of the stairs because one baby gate wasn't enough because they kept arguing and fighting through the baby gates.

So we had to separate them with two baby gates,

One at each end of the staircase.

Sam was at the top of the stairs shouting downstairs.

I'm very friendly.

I'm friendly with everyone I meet.

It's him,

He kept saying to Leo.

It's him.

He's not very nice.

He tried to jump on my back.

I'm not having him jump on my back.

I don't like that.

That's not a very nice way to meet a new friend,

Leo said.

I know,

Sam,

Exactly,

Shouting upstairs.

Tucker said,

I just thought that that's the best way to start our conversation.

I didn't realise you didn't like it very much,

Sam.

Of course I didn't like it,

Said Sam.

And anyway,

I'm not coming downstairs if you're going to be all pushy and bully-like and a bit mean.

I'm staying up here with Kitty,

Mr Kitty said.

This is my door.

Stay away from my door unless you're Sam and then you can come in,

Sam said.

See,

Mr Kitty likes me,

Leo said to Tucker.

Tucker,

You should just be more friendly.

How are you supposed to make friends when you're all salt?

You're supposed to be sweet like sugar.

Mr Kittens is not very impressed and neither is Sam.

Mr Kittens and Sam both shouted downstairs at the same time.

No,

We're not impressed.

Not at all.

Leo rolled his eyes at Tucker.

Tucker laid on the bed next to Leo.

I'm so bored,

Leo.

I just want a friend,

A new friend.

There's two new friends upstairs and they won't play with me and I'm so upset about it.

So upset and I'm so bored and I'm like,

All these,

All these friends in this house and no one's friends,

Leo said.

I'm your friend,

Tucker,

Tucker said.

I don't know how to make other friends,

Leo.

Obviously,

That's what I'm learning from this experience.

I'm learning that,

I'm learning that I can't just eat kitties and I can't just push new doggy friends around because they don't like it when you get on their back and I can't just,

I can't just be myself,

Leo.

I want to just be myself and myself is so happy and playful and joyful.

Prancing around.

That's all I am.

I'm not scary like a dinosaur.

Leo looked at Tucker.

I can't really say it,

You're not that much like a cow,

But I'm black if I had a few white patches,

I'd look like a cow.

I really like cows.

Leo said,

That doesn't really sound very much like a cow,

Tucker,

Tucker said.

If I was a cow,

Do you think they'd like me better?

What would I be called if I was a cow?

I wouldn't be called Tucker if I was a cow.

I don't like that name very much.

I would be called Rosie.

Rosie the cow.

And she's so nice and sweet and she has a big old tongue and she licks her own ears with a tongue.

I'd like to do that,

Leo.

I bet that's really fun.

If you could just stick your own tongue down your own ear and lick around in there and give it a good scratch with your tongue.

I bet that'd be so much fun.

Leo looked horrified.

Oh,

That sounds disgusting.

Tucker said,

No,

It doesn't.

It sounds very useful.

So yes,

I'd be a cow.

I'd be called Rosie and I'd be a moo.

A moo,

Said Tucker.

Leo started laughing.

That's a terrible moo.

I think I could do a better moo.

Leo looked at the ceiling as if he was going to howl like a wolf,

But he went moo.

And Tucker said,

Wow,

That was a really good moo.

Have you been practicing?

Do you want to be a cow?

Do you want to be like a Rosie?

Leo said,

I think I'd more be,

I think if I was a cow,

I'd be like Penelope.

Yeah,

Yes,

I think you'd make a good Penelope.

Sam shouted downstairs.

I'd be called Meryl.

Meryl,

I like the name Meryl.

And Mr.

Kittens shouted,

I would be called Louise.

Mr.

Kittens and Sam were just sat upstairs at the top of the stairs,

Staring through the banister.

Tucker ran to the bottom of the stairs.

Why don't you come downstairs to play?

Sam said,

We can't.

We've got a baby gate there in the middle.

Tucker said,

Oh yes,

I forgot.

I'd like to introduce myself.

My name is Rosie and I'm a cow and I'm a very nice cow and I like to play with lots of friends.

What's your name?

Sam said,

Meryl,

I'm Meryl.

Mr.

Kittens just got up and walked off.

He'd already had enough.

Sam watched Mr.

Kittens walk away back to Isabelle's room.

Sam decided to go with Mr.

Kittens.

That left Tucker at the bottom of the stairs,

Feeling very,

Very abandoned.

Tucker just sat there,

Still and quiet,

Feeling very,

Very sorry for himself.

He had no friends in the world.

None.

Well,

Except for Leo and Belinda,

His ex-girlfriend,

And a few friends at the damp park that he'd not chewed on before,

That still thought he was a friendly dog.

The list was quite small.

He was feeling very lonely.

Leo walked over to him and said,

Come on,

Tucker,

It's all right.

Tucker said,

I just want to be able to play.

I just want to be able to play.

I'm so bored.

I'm so bored and I'm so lonely and I'm so offended,

Leo.

I'm offended that they don't like me.

I mean,

I can understand that I'm a bit bossy sometimes with me wanting to be the boss of everybody,

Like top dog and all that stuff,

But that's in my nature.

It's in my nature,

Leo.

Why am I supposed to help myself?

I can't.

Do you think they'll ever come downstairs,

Leo?

Do you think they'll come to play with me?

Maybe if I dressed up as a cow,

Maybe if I had a disguise on and I pretended I was a new dog from down the road and they'd never met me before.

Leo rolled his eyes again and said,

Tucker,

They're smarter than that.

They're going to know what you smell like.

Oh yeah,

I forgot I smelled nice.

And that's hard to forget,

Isn't it?

When you meet someone and they smell really nice and you're like,

Oh,

You smell so nice.

And I'm like,

Yeah,

No,

I can't help it.

It's just my natural smell.

I do smell nice.

I'm a nice smelling doggy.

Whereas you,

Leo,

You don't smell so nice.

Oh,

Thanks,

Said Leo.

Oh,

I'm not being mean or anything.

I'm just telling the truth.

You do smell nice to me.

You smell like old smelly carpets.

But that's an acquired taste,

Leo.

It's not for everyone.

Luckily,

Mum loves the smell of you.

She thinks you smell nice.

Thank goodness,

Said Leo.

But yeah,

You do smell a bit like an old pongy carpet,

You know,

A bit like smelly old shoes.

That's what you smell like.

Whereas I don't smell like that.

I don't really smell of anything at all except loveliness.

I smell lovely me.

That's it.

That's me.

Well,

You can bring your lovely smelling self over here and come and lay with me on the dog bed and forget about Sam and forget about Mr.

Kitty and just chill out for a bit and maybe have a nap.

All right,

Then,

Said Tucker.

He moped his way over to the big dog bed that was at the side of the living room and laid down next to Leo.

He did the big,

Big,

Big sigh.

That sigh that he does that makes him want more attention.

Poor Tucker.

Poor Tucker needed to work on a few parts of his personality,

Unfortunately.

Maybe if he was a little bit nicer,

Not as aggressive,

Not as in your face,

Then he might make better friends.

Or friends that he meets might actually like him.

But that's something Tucker has to learn,

Right?

He laid down all still and quiet next to Leo.

Then Leo laid his head on the top of Tucker's head.

He let him know that he loved him and everything would be OK.

Tucker and Leo fell asleep and had a very nice afternoon nap there together on their dog bed.
