#12. Homecoming | Vigyan Bhairav Tantra
A person without a center, lost in dealing with the periphery is never home. What is that home? How to finally be at home? Tantra says: Technique: Sitting motionless with eyes closed and fixing the attention on the inner space of the skull, gradually the mind becomes stable and one reaches home.

Namaste and a very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,
Dhyansa.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
You are in your houses at your home,
But you are not at home.
All throughout your lives,
You are looking to be at home,
And when you are at home,
You are not at home.
You don't feel at home when you are going out in the world,
You are distracted,
You are never paying attention to this feeling,
To this inner calling that you are never at home.
In all the distractions that you go through your life,
You never confront this feeling of not being at home.
But when you are at home,
In the moments where you face yourself,
In the moments where you have this space,
This time,
You see that everything is there.
Everything is there for you to be at home,
But you are not at home.
All throughout your life,
You have been working,
You have been striving to be at home,
To come home,
And you are not at home.
What is this home,
What is this feeling,
What is this inner sense,
What is the reality of this inner sense of being at home,
Wanting to be at home and not be at home,
All throughout this search,
All throughout this life,
All throughout this journey.
If you can relate to this sense of home,
You would understand that we have a center.
If we were to visualize ourselves,
We have a center,
And that center is our home.
The further we are away from this center,
The off we are from this center,
The more the madness of this life.
And all throughout our life,
We are hovering around and away from this center.
Off center we are hovering all throughout our life,
And we create in this process a periphery around this center,
A shell around this center,
Which we call as our life,
Where all what we live in the physical,
All what we live in the professional,
All we live,
Every aspect of our life that we create is on this periphery,
Is on this shell.
At times,
At times there are moments where you are in deep love,
Where you are in deep joy,
Where you are in deep happiness,
You are suddenly thrown back to your center,
To your home and you feel that's it,
This is where I belong,
This is where my people are,
This is where I feel good,
This is what I want in life.
And then you are thrown back on the periphery,
You are thrown back off center,
And you are constantly oscillating in this periphery,
Around this periphery,
Sometimes you are in ill health,
Sometimes you are completely off,
You are far away,
You don't know where your life is going,
You have no sense of where to go,
And you are always striving to come back at least to the periphery,
At least to somehow put your pieces back together in this shell of life.
But unless you are home,
Unless you are at the center,
The journey is not complete.
This sense,
This deep spiritual urge,
This deep spiritual search,
This feeling is only satisfied when you are at home,
When you are at your center.
How to go to the center?
How to go from this periphery to this center?
A master thief,
He was a master of theft,
He has been a thief for all his life,
Never got caught for hundreds and thousands of thefts that he had done,
He was never caught.
He had a son,
An 8 year old son,
Who was growing up,
Looking up to his father,
Looking up to becoming a great thief like his father.
So he said,
Father,
Teach me how can I be a great thief like you.
The father said,
Okay,
You are growing young and strong,
Let me give you your first lesson.
So he said,
Let's wait until there is new moon,
Until there is complete darkness in the village,
And then I will take you to your first theft.
The son,
Very eager,
Very waiting for this new moon night to arrive,
And as the new moon night arrived,
His excitement rose,
He was all ready with his father in the night,
In the darkness of the night,
To go on his first theft.
So they both went out,
The father said,
Okay,
Pick a village,
Or pick a cottage in this village,
Or a house in this village,
And the son pointed at one of those houses.
So the father took him close to the house,
They waited until all the lights were off,
There was complete darkness.
They both stepped into the house through the window,
They jumped in and they reached to a room where there was complete darkness.
In the darkness,
The father said,
Look over there,
There is a closet.
In that closet,
There is a treasure box,
Go get that treasure box.
The son,
Very excited,
He opened the closet,
He went into the closet,
As soon as he went into the closet,
The father closed the closet,
He locked the closet,
He jumped out of the window and ran away.
In this process,
A lot of noise was made,
So the people in the house,
They woke up,
It was so terrifying for the son inside as he realized what had just happened.
The people in the house,
They got up with the noise,
Looking for what was happening.
In this midst of crisis,
The son started realizing what is happening,
How to now go about his life.
So he started making noises like a cat.
In the closet,
An idea came up,
He started making noises like a cat.
The guy who was coming into the room,
The family member who was coming into the room,
The moment he heard the noise of the cat,
He thought,
Okay,
Maybe there is a cat that came out of,
That jumped into the room and is now stuck in the closet.
He relaxed himself and with that he opened the closet.
The moment he opened the closet,
The son pushed the person away,
He jumped out of the window,
Ran as fast as he can into the darkness until he reached home.
When he reached home,
He saw his father was sitting in the living room,
There were two plates with food served on them,
Not yet eaten,
The father was waiting.
The son was very furious at the father of what the father had done,
So he came in,
He started getting angry at his father,
The father said,
Sit down,
You've come home,
You have learned your lesson,
Now is the time for you to eat.
This is the work of the master to teach you how to be at your center,
How to come back at home.
There is no process,
There is no method for you to find your center,
To find your home at your home.
You have to either let your life be the master to let you come to that home,
To throw you in situations for you to come at home,
Or you have to come across these designs,
These spiritual designs of the master where there is a technique,
Where there is this and that for you to be thrown back at your center,
To be coming back at home.
With that,
Let us listen to what the technique we will practice today,
What Bhairava has given to us in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra.
Bhairava says,
Sitting motionless with eyes closed and fixing the attention on the inner space of the skull,
Gradually the mind becomes stable and one reaches home.
Here Bhairava is exactly talking about the same home that we all are seeking,
That we all are searching,
The same home that is there within us.
He says,
Sitting motionless with eyes closed,
Sitting still in a meditation posture,
Any posture that is comfortable for you,
Any sitting posture that is comfortable for you,
So that you are absolutely still,
You are motionless.
Not that you have frozen or you are contracting yourself,
But at ease you are still.
Your body is not calling for attention all the time.
So sitting motionless with eyes closed and fixing the attention on the inner space of the skull.
Here the technique is to bring your awareness to the very top of your head,
To the region inside your skull,
Which is as if you are feeling the surface of your skull,
The top of your head from the inside.
So there are many variations of this,
There are many interpretations of this.
The reason why Bhairava brings this technique in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra is that he is also referring this to the rise of energies.
As the energies rise in you and move from Muladhara chakra all the way to Sahasrara.
This is the point where the energies are at the top of your head.
So in this technique he is referring to bringing the attention to Sahasrara chakra,
To the crown chakra,
But you cannot take your energy out of the body to this Sahasrara chakra.
What you can do is to take the energy all the way until the top of your head and over there after there things happen on their own.
The awareness shift,
The energy shift from the top of your head to actually going above your head into Sahasrara,
Into the crown,
Into the thousand petalled lotus that chakra,
That energy center happens on its own.
So that is one interpretation,
That is the interpretation of the energies as they rise.
But for us it still has a meaning without thinking in terms of chakras.
As we take our awareness and bring it and fix it into the space in our head,
Into the region at the very top of your head,
The attention,
The awareness that results in mind settling.
That results in mind coming down,
All the thoughts getting absorbed in this process of attention,
In this process of concentration.
And when you do that,
Bhairava says gradually the mind becomes stable.
It becomes stable,
It becomes center.
All your energies are concentrated at one point at this inside the skull at the top of your head.
And one reaches home,
Meaning when you are settled in this centeredness,
In this one pointedness,
You are back,
You are thrown back at your center.
You are thrown back at your pure consciousness,
At your being where there is silence,
Where there is no sense of any movement,
Where there is absolutely no wish,
No desire,
You are at bliss,
You are at peace,
You are in love at the center.
Let us experience this in our own experience.
Practice this wonderful technique given to us by Bhairava.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
With your body settled in the posture,
Your head,
Neck,
Back aligned.
Allowing your breath to settle and your body to rest alone with your breath.
Your awareness to turn inwards,
Drawing its attention from all different directions,
Drawing it inwards in this moment on yourself.
Throughout this meditation,
Don't force anything.
If there are thoughts,
If your attention is drawn outwards,
Simply bring it back inwards without any resistance,
Without any guilt.
And shifting your awareness in the space in your head.
As if there is space,
A void,
A vacuum in your head.
Imagine if that helps.
More tune in to this space by bringing your awareness to your head.
Feeling the sensations.
Feeling the energy.
Slowly shifting this awareness to the inside of the skull.
At all times don't force anything,
Keeping your awareness natural.
Slowly shifting this awareness to the inside of the skull.
Fixing the attention.
The inside of your skull.
Feeling the energy.
The sensations.
Allowing the energies to rise beyond the skull.
If the energy rises,
Allow it to happen.
If it doesn't,
Stay fixed with your tension at the inside of your skull.
The inside of your skull.
Allowing more and more stillness.
An awareness fixed,
One pointed at the top of your head,
Inside the skull.
The inside of your skull.
The inside of your skull.
Allowing the energies below to reorganize.
As you keep one pointedness,
It says rawr.
Let go of all focus.
All effort.
Remain still.
Silent and aware.
Awareness expanding.
Allow everything to happen on its own.
While you remain still,
Silent,
At home.
Your body still.
Your mind still.
Your energies are liberated.
Your awareness is expanding.
You remain still.
Silent and aware.
At home.
Nowhere to go.
Nothing to do.
Simply resting in your own being.
At home.
And very gently and slowly,
You may open your eyes.
Remaining centered,
Still.
At home.
Allowing the periphery to be there with you at your center.
Take this stillness,
This centeredness,
This silence in the rest of your day.
Thank you very much.
Namaste.
Many of you rose up to form a community,
To share this love,
This silence,
Which we all feel a part of.
And have written to me to form this community.
And here we are,
Where we have now a way to come together as a community,
To exchange more beyond just some chats,
Some words,
But really ourselves in more multidimensional ways.
I am thankful and grateful to all those who have stepped up to ask for this community,
To make a commitment to this community.
And for those who are new to what I am saying,
If you feel the urge to be a part of this group,
Of this energy,
Of these vibrations,
Not only of tantra,
But the space that we all share together,
This silent space,
Please write to me with what would you like to have from this community,
And what would you like to give back to this community,
And we can take it from there.
Once again,
Thank you very much.
Namaste.

Wow… one of the most difficult meditations in this series on Tantra. Perhaps my present state of mind on the cushion, but being present in the top of the skull, in stillness, and “at home.” I’ll need to work with this one more!🙏🏼
