Tantra is composed of two words, 'Tan' meaning expansion and 'Tra' meaning liberation. It is knowledge for the expansion of consciousness and liberation of energy. The technique we practice in today's session: Meditate on the energy rising at the root chakra. Like the rays of the sun, gradually becoming subtler and subtler until she dissolves at the top of the head and results in the state of bhairava.

Namaste and a very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,

Dhyansi.

We're meditating on the 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.

Before we begin,

My salutations to this knowledge of Tantra,

To the source of this knowledge of Tantra and this opportunity for all of us to come together,

To come in the vibrations of Tantra and take something for our life,

For the betterment of our life.

What is Tantra?

In very simple words,

It is expansion and liberation.

Expansion of consciousness and liberation of energy.

These two fundamental units,

Consciousness and energy,

These are the building blocks of who we are,

In whichever form,

In whichever understanding,

In whichever way you slice and dice life and yourself,

You will see these are the two fundamental units,

Consciousness and energy.

And Tantra directly works on both.

It works on the expansion of consciousness and the liberation of energy.

Why do we need this expansion of consciousness,

If you think about it?

Is it to have those higher experiences of the higher consciousnesses of other realms and all those spiritual,

Psychedelic experiences?

Is that the goal of the expansion of consciousness?

For some it may be,

But for ordinary lives like us,

Living that very practical lifestyle that we all have,

What does this expansion of consciousness mean?

This expansion of consciousness is directly related to the experience of our life,

Even if it is very much rooted in the very mundane,

Very practical things of life.

See that when the consciousness is contracted,

You are in fear,

You are in insecurity,

You are in anxiety,

You are in restlessness,

You are in stress.

When the consciousness is expanded,

You are in love,

You are in compassion,

You are in peace,

You are in rest.

So the experience of your life is directly related to your consciousness.

Is it contracted or is it expanded?

And Tantra is that science,

Is that path of expanding the consciousness.

As your consciousness expands in a peace,

Love,

Joy,

Compassion,

Fulfillment,

Satisfaction in life,

Purpose in life,

All these are by-products.

All these happen by themselves.

See that this consciousness,

When we say consciousness,

What do we really mean?

Internalize this.

Take this in your own experience,

Validate in your own experience.

Is this true that the contraction of consciousness is leading to a miserable experience of life and the expansion of consciousness is leading to a pleasurable,

Blissful experience of life?

See that take any event of your life,

Take any happening around you in your life at any given point of time,

And you will see that facts are facts,

Objects are objects.

But the perception of those objects,

The perception of those facts which give you the experience,

Which form the space,

Which form this mental imagery of whatever we call as reality,

This is totally dependent on the state of your consciousness.

If the consciousness is contracted,

You are in fear,

And if you see a rope in the darkness,

You will think of that rope as a snake,

And you will be even more fearful.

So this consciousness plays a very big role in the experience of our life,

And we are trying to improve the experience of life by doing this and by doing that,

By having these possessions,

By detailing out these material possessions in our life.

But we do not look at the fundamental,

The inner which actually gives life,

Which actually gives meaning to whatever is out there.

So this consciousness is something that must expand,

Unless this consciousness is expanding,

You remain very much skewed,

Very limited in your view,

Always in fear,

Always in anxiety,

In stress,

In restlessness.

Through that,

No matter what is served to you,

No matter how,

Whatever life brings to you,

You always will taste it in fear,

Will always have a miserable taste of all what is given to you in life.

So this expansion of consciousness is a must happening,

Not to have the higher realms of consciousness,

Not necessarily to become one with God,

But to also address the very practicalities of life.

Second,

Which is the energy,

This liberation of energy,

What does that mean?

What does this liberation of energy mean?

The idea that we only source our energy from the outside is very limited.

The idea that we only source the energy from the food,

From the external environment is very limited.

What about you as energy?

You also have intrinsic energy.

Think about it,

Don't you have some innate intrinsic energy of your own?

Yes,

You are powered by what you consume,

What you eat,

Both in food,

Both in environment,

What all penetrates from the outside to the inside.

But there has to be something innate,

Just the way the outside has a certain energy,

The inside also has to have a certain energy,

Because the outside has energy,

Therefore inside also has energy.

And when this innate energy that you have,

When this is liberated,

When this is freed,

This is another level where your experience is directly impacted and is taken to higher realms.

So Tantra works on both,

It works on the expansion of your consciousness and the liberation of energy.

What is this energy?

This also has to be understood,

This also has to be felt.

In the purity of consciousness,

In the expansion of consciousness,

You start to also see this energy,

You start to feel your innate energies.

In Tantra,

In Yoga,

In all these Eastern philosophies,

There is a reference,

There is a name even given to this energy that is very much innate to you,

And it is called as Kundalini energy.

The energy that is there in the base of all of us,

That is latent in all of us.

So Tantra works on this latent,

Innate energy that is there in all of us and helps this to liberate.

Liberate so that we are experiencing this energy in higher forms.

As this rises through our consciousness,

As this rises through higher centers of energy,

The entire experience of life changes.

The current pleasures,

The current pains,

The current experience of our life is very much determined by lower centers of energy.

The energies of sexuality,

The energies of food,

The pleasure that comes along with food,

Etc.

And possession and so on.

But there is so much more in terms of energy that we can experience in our life.

The love that we experience,

The compassion that we experience,

The oneness with all that we experience,

The energy of this is so far higher,

The experience of that is so far higher.

And it can only happen when the innate energy,

The Kundalini in you is liberated.

And Tantra works on both.

Both expanding your consciousness and liberating your energies all together,

Hand in hand,

In a way that this becomes very practical,

Very much in your own experience as you proceed on this journey with Tantra.

As you come more and more in contact with the vibrations of Tantra.

Let us go through the technique today,

Understand what this means and then practice it together in silence in meditation.

Bhairava says in this technique,

Meditate on the energy rising at the root chakra,

Like rays of the sun,

Gradually becoming subtler and subtler.

Until she dissolves at the top of the head,

Resulting in the state of Bhairava.

Let me repeat.

Meditate on the energy rising at the root chakra,

Like rays of the sun,

Gradually becoming subtler and subtler.

Until she dissolves at the top of the head and results in the state of Bhairava.

This now meditation technique enters into working over your energies.

Over the last 4 techniques that we had gone through,

The breath techniques in the past sessions,

They were preparing you to now go even into the subtler layers of your reality,

Subtler layers of who you really are and work upon these layers.

So now here Bhairava brings in this rise of energy,

This liberation of energy.

He says that meditate on this innate energy that you have and concentrate on the root chakra,

On the Mooladhara.

So there are these 7 chakras that is there in the system.

There are many systems in place where there are 12 chakras and so on.

You can take any of these systems,

More or less they are saying the same thing in different ways,

In different degrees of sophistication.

But for us to proceed further in the understanding of Tantra,

7 chakras is what we will look at and in today's meditation and tomorrow's meditation,

The chakras,

The understanding of chakras will be the basis.

So the first chakra,

The root chakra which is at the very bottom of your body,

At the very bottom of your construct,

Not the physical body,

Not the physical body but the energy body.

So this root chakra,

The Mooladhara which gives you the base,

Which gives you the foundation,

Not to your physical body but to your energy body.

That is the first chakra and here Bhairava is saying concentrate on that,

The energy that is rising from Mooladhara.

And the way to do it,

He is saying visualize as if the rays of light,

The rays of the sun,

The rays of light,

They are arising from this chakra and then they are going all the way top to Sahasraa,

To the top of the head and they are getting absorbed at the top of the head.

Where is this Sahasraa chakra in the energy body?

This is slightly above your head,

At the top of your head.

So what you are going to do in this meditation,

In this visualization of energy rising across your chakras,

You can forget about all the chakras in between for now as the beginning and just focus on two chakras,

The Mooladhara,

The base and the Sahasraa,

The crown chakra.

And visualize the energy rising from Mooladhara and reaching to the Sahasraa,

Getting absorbed at the Sahasraa.

In this visualization,

There is liberation of your innate energy,

Of your Kundalini rising through the base chakra going all the way in your energy channels that are there,

The Ira,

The Pingala,

The Sushmana,

We don't have to go through in details of that,

But just remember this visualization that energy is rising from the very base of your body to the very top and rising further above to the top of your head.

As you do that,

As the energy is liberated,

You enter into a state of inner peace of Bhairava,

Of consciousness.

Let us take this into our own experience,

Let us be open to this meditation technique of chakra meditation,

Of Kundalini meditation,

Of rising the energies that are there at the base of our spine all the way to the top of the Sahasraa.

Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.

For this meditation,

Take a sitting posture with your head,

Your neck,

Your back straight,

Alert and relax.

Your breath flowing naturally and your awareness turning inwards with every breath,

Your body settling your mind resting and awareness more and more in your inner space.

Let us take a deep breath in and out.

As your awareness settles in your inner space,

Visualize yourself as energies.

The physical goes in the background and the energy in the foreground.

You experiencing yourself as energies.

The shape,

The form,

The self-image is of energy not of the physical.

As this visualization of yourself,

As a form of energy becomes clearer,

Shift your attention,

Your focus at the very bottom of this form,

At the very root of this form.

Feel the source of energy at this root.

Chakra at Muladhara,

At the very base of your energy body.

Visualize this energy radiating like light rays of this energy.

Radiating all the way to the top.

Feeling yourself as a form of energy.

Feeling this energy rising from the bottom to the very top.

Let us take a deep breath in and out.

Concentrate,

Focus on this source at the very bottom of your body.

Let us take a deep breath in and out.

Visualize the rays of this energy reaching to the crown chakra,

To the very top of your head.

Feeling your entire body with light,

With energy.

As if your whole body is illuminated with light of your own.

Your own energies.

And slowly shift your focus.

Focus to the crown chakra.

To where this energy is absorbed,

Few inches above your head.

Focus on this source at the very top of your body.

And let go of all visualization,

All effort,

Allowing your energies to reorganize while you remain in silence,

In awareness.

No effort,

No visualization,

Only silence.

Focus on this source at the very top of your body.

Maintaining the stillness.

This inner silence,

This sense of energy.

Very gently and slowly you may open your eyes.

Taking this awareness,

This silence and stillness in your daily life.

Thank you very much.

Namaste.
