#85. God Is Not Your Boss | Vigyan Bhairav Tantra
There are 3 types of prayer: 1. To an Authority 2. A longing to be with the whole 3. Being one with the whole. We only know the first type and use it as a tool for our greed and fear. The other two have become nearly extinct. ====== To apply for joining our meditation community, please write me an email introducing yourself, your interest in the community and what can you give back to the community. Namaste sannyasa family and everyone.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,
Dhyansa.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
There are certain experiences in life.
If you do not have them in your life,
Your life does not have much meaning and you have missed much in life.
Love is one of those experiences.
If you don't have love in life,
Just imagine that you never experienced love in life.
You come into this world and go back into nowhere,
Go back out of this world without experiencing love.
What a miss it would be,
What an unfortunate,
Misfortune it would be that you come into life and you do not experience love.
Certain experiences are giving meaning to life,
Are giving the essence of this wonderful life.
Love is one of those experiences.
Meditation is another one of those experiences which give you the essence of life,
The taste of life,
The taste of truth of life,
Of reality of life.
This silent awareness where you are just simply in a state of witnessing,
Absolutely at rest and in awareness.
In such an absolute rest,
In awareness,
You come to the reality of life.
And if you miss meditation in life,
You have missed much.
You missed a certain meaning of life.
You missed the essence of life.
And then there is one more experience,
One more state which if you miss,
You have missed much as well.
And that is prayer.
Prayer such a beautiful word made ugly over the past centuries.
Such a beautiful word,
Such a beautiful state to be in.
Prayer once again,
If you have missed to be in prayer in life,
You have missed much,
You have missed a certain meaning,
A certain essence of life.
But what is really prayer?
Think about it,
Contemplate about it in these moments with me.
What is really a prayer?
Not the ugly words,
The descriptions that are given in some sort of scripture,
In some sort of book,
In some sort of text.
In your experience,
What is a prayer?
A prayer is your relationship to the whole.
The relationship of the fragment to the whole.
How do you go about that relationship?
You have so many relationships in life which you understand how to manage.
You know how to be with a friend.
You know how to be with a boss.
You know how to be with other people.
How to be with the whole.
The fragment wanting to be with the whole.
What is this relationship between the fragment and the whole?
This relationship is prayer.
This state is prayer.
There are three kinds of prayers,
If you will,
The way they exist in this world right now.
Three kinds of prayer.
The first prayer,
The mundane,
The ordinary prayer that you know from religion,
That you know from all the learnings,
All the cultures,
The prayer in which you are praying to God,
You are praying to a certain authority.
You are in contact.
This conversation,
This relationship is of something that is higher than you,
Something that is of authority over you.
And you are rooted in fear.
You are rooted in greed.
In this first type of ordinary prayer,
There are only these two roots that are there in you.
Either you are in greed or you are in fear.
Only then you are reminded of God.
You are in prayer of God.
Just think of your last experience of prayer when you had last prayed.
If you would remember this last prayer,
It will remind you either of the situation of greed while you wanted something desperately or a moment of fear where suddenly you were facing a trouble.
You were in difficulty.
You were in ill health.
You were in misery.
You were somewhere where you were very helpless and that call for help that out of your fear,
Out of your misery was to an authority.
This was call for help to an authority.
This prayer,
That is this first kind of prayer,
Is an ordinary prayer.
You are using it just because you do not know what else to do.
You are in trouble.
So you are calling for help and anybody can give that help and since there is no one that is giving you that help,
Then you are calling to this unknown God,
This unknown authority to give you help.
Or you are in greed.
You want something very desperately.
You want to fulfill your wishes and you ask your authority to fulfill your wishes.
Mooli,
He was a slave.
He was a slave in a field where he had to every day,
Day in day out just dig holes.
That was his job,
His slavery that day in day out he had to dig holes.
And one day he was so tired,
He was so tired of digging that he started praying and God appeared.
God said,
I give you three wishes.
Whatever you want,
Three wishes I fulfill for you.
Mooli said,
I am very very tired,
I am very thirsty.
I want a bottle of beer,
A nice cold bottle of beer.
God said,
Wish granted.
He gave suddenly a glass bottle of beer to Mooli and Mooli as he started drinking,
God said,
This is a special bottle,
It will pour endlessly,
The beer will never end into this bottle.
Mooli was very happy,
He started drinking,
He liked the taste of that beer.
He said,
The God asked,
What are your rest of the two wishes?
Mooli said,
I want two more of these bottles.
This is how greed works.
In the greed you do not realize what you are doing,
You do not realize what you are asking.
And this relationship of you in greed or in fear to the authority,
This relationship is of slavery.
This relationship is not the truth.
This relationship is given to you to control you,
To give you a mindset of slavery.
You are kept in slavery in this relationship of you and some authority somewhere there known as God to which you need to pray in a certain way,
You need to do this or that to please the God to take you out of the misery or fulfill your greed.
This type of relationship is ugly.
This is the reason why we have lost the real prayer in our life.
Why we have lost the truth in our life?
Because who wants to be a slave?
You are only going to remember God,
You are only going to use that prayer,
Be in that prayer either when you are in trouble or you want something desperately.
There is no truth to it.
This psychology that you live,
This state that you live is short lived,
Is for a few moments of trouble or of greed.
And then once the trouble is gone or the desire comes down,
You move on to your life,
To your routine.
And who cares about God?
Who cares about prayer?
They are not your business anymore.
They are someone else's business.
Then there is a second kind of prayer.
That prayer,
That second kind of prayer has no authority.
It has the beginning of you recognizing your relationship as a fragment to the whole.
See that you are the whole.
You are the fragment,
You are the whole.
But as you live your life as a fragment,
This relationship to the whole is something that needs to be built.
This relationship of gratitude,
Of acknowledgement that you are given this wonderful life,
This chance to live,
This chance to experience life,
This amazing diversity,
Vividness,
The psychedelic of life,
You are given this chance in acknowledgement of that chance,
In acknowledgement of this relationship between the fragment and the whole.
The relationship of the drop and the ocean,
Of the flame and the fire,
That relationship if you start to acknowledge that,
If you start to subject yourself into that state of acknowledgement,
Of gratitude,
Of being in this relationship of the fragment to the whole,
A whole new world opens up for you.
A state of prayer that is so beautiful that begins the journey towards a blissful life.
Because it is not this prayer to an authority.
This is not a prayer for some desperation.
It is rather a longing,
A love once again for the whole.
A love of the unconscious for the conscious once again.
A certain remembering that you are not just the fragment,
You are the whole.
This state of prayer is to be lived,
Is to be not just talked about,
Not just read somewhere in books,
Not just in few minutes of silence,
But the state of prayer is to be lived all the time.
Because this establishes a connection back to the whole.
And this second type of prayer,
This becomes the basis of meditation as well.
The moment you are in remembrance of the whole,
You are in meditation.
The door of silence,
The door of awareness opens up for you.
And you enter the door,
You are in pure silence,
You are in pure awareness.
Once you pass through meditation,
Where you come out,
That is the third state of prayer.
There is a third state of prayer where you are one with the whole.
This relationship of the fragment to the whole,
Of the drop to the ocean is not of distance,
Is not of two.
The duality has disappeared and this union of the drop and the ocean has happened,
Where the ocean,
Where the drop has merged into the ocean,
Where the unconscious has merged into the conscious.
This state where the fragment has merged into the whole.
This samadhi,
This oneness with the whole,
This is also to be lived as a prayer.
This is a state of prayer because you can live this,
You can live this 24-7 in your life where you are always in constant remembrance of the whole,
In oneness with the whole.
And this state is so empowering because you are always established in your truth,
You are always established in your true nature,
In your reality.
These the second and the third type of prayer,
This is almost non-existent in the world.
This is absolutely something that is required for us to be who we really are,
To remind us,
To awaken us to our own truth,
To our connection to the divine,
To know that we are not only humans,
We are also divine.
Divine is not the authority,
Is not somewhere else approving,
Is not your boss.
God is not your boss.
Your boss may be your God,
But God is not your boss.
See that the relationship of you and the whole,
This needs to be re-invoked in your life.
And in between this second state of prayer and the third state of prayer is meditation.
Let us listen to what Bhairava has to say in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra as a meditation technique,
As one step closer to truth,
One step closer to our reality.
Bhairava says,
O Devi,
In the continuous remembrance of me,
Become one with me.
O Devi,
In the continuous remembrance of me,
Become one with me.
Remember that this is a conversation between Bhairava and Bhairavi.
Here Bhairava is telling Bhairavi,
O Devi,
O Beloved.
In the continuous remembrance of me,
Here the invitation is to remember the whole,
Is to be in this continuous remembrance,
A continuous connection with the whole,
So that you can merge once again into the whole.
So that the unconscious in you,
Once again merges back into the conscious and there is only consciousness,
There is only whole.
So this technique is to take you,
First of all invoke the state of prayer number 2,
In you the second kind of prayer to remind you of the relationship between the fragment and the whole and to take you from that second type of prayer to the third type of prayer,
A state where you are one with the whole,
Where there is no difference between you and the whole,
Between the fragment and the whole,
Between you the human and the divine.
How to do that?
Continuous remembering.
This is one of the techniques which is also used in many different ways.
Gurjif used it as self-remembering.
He called it as self-remembering.
The emphasis is on continuity.
The emphasis is on remembrance.
You can remember yourself if that is a technique more resonant to you.
You can remember God if that is the technique more resonant to you.
But what is important is to have a continuous remembrance,
Not just in the moments of meditation,
Not just in the moments of silence,
But all throughout your 24-7.
If you build this continuous remembrance of the whole,
Of your connection to the source,
To the awareness,
To your teacher,
To your master,
Or any other thing which reminds you continuously of the whole,
That is something if you establish in your life,
There is a transformation possible.
There is a transcendence possible from the misery to a life of bliss.
With that,
Let us bring this continuous remembrance of the whole into our silence,
Into our awareness in the next minutes.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
Your body rested,
Yet alert,
With your back straight,
Shoulders down,
Face relaxed,
Your breath flowing gently on its own.
Good morning.
Awareness inwards.
This sense of acknowledgement that you have given this wonderful life,
This chance to experience life.
Gratitude for the love in your life,
For the bliss in your life.
Whatever you have been given in life as a gift in gratitude.
And in remembrance,
Remembering once again the whole,
The vastness of this existence.
Remaining aware of this relationship of you and the whole.
And approach the whole with love,
With gratitude.
With oneness.
In a continuous remembrance of the whole.
Thank you.
In awareness of the relationship,
In remembrance of the whole.
Thank you.
All your thoughts.
Your energies.
Your energies.
Thank you.
In silence,
Allow yourself to merge in the whole.
Become one with the infinite.
Thank you.
Let go of everything.
The fragment merging into the whole,
The drop merging into the ocean.
The self into no self.
In continuous remembrance of the whole.
Thank you.
In silence.
In silence.
In pure awareness.
In prayer.
In silence.
Maintaining this prayer,
This continuous remembrance.
Silence in awareness,
Very gently and slowly.
You may open your eyes.
In continuous remembrance of the whole,
Of your true nature,
Of your divine connection,
Of your divine nature.
Take this remembrance,
Take this continuity,
This fire into your daily life.
In whatever you do,
When in action,
In doing,
In whatever you are doing,
Maintain this flame,
This continuity,
This awareness,
This awakening to the whole.
And on your path,
On this spiritual journey,
If you wish to maintain this continuity and flow with me and with other meditators,
Flowing towards truth,
Flowing towards love,
Flowing towards oneness with everyone.
If this resonates to you and you wish to be a part of this flow with me and other meditators,
You are more than welcome to join our sannyasa family.
To apply,
Please write me an email with your introduction,
With your calling to be a part of this flow,
This movement and what can you give back to this sannyasa family.
Thank you very much.
Namaste.

Thank you for this guiding practice which I found to be a fascinating revelation and a reminder, once again, that we are all connected .
