Do you struggle with your ability to feel good about yourself? Do you struggle to find the positives about yourself - especially if you are constantly comparing yourself with others? In order to build a more confident sense of self, it's important to be able to see all of who you are - with the deepest level of self-honesty. We tend to gloss over all that makes us unique and special; and even when others point this out to us, we quickly diminish their words - downplaying our abilities and our god-given talents, not to mention all that we have accomplished out of hard work and effort. To build more confidence, you have to be willing to see all of your "goodness" - what I actually call your 'greatness'. Your greatness is what defines you. It is how you are different and uniquely special. Seeing the ways that you are unique and special is one powerful way to feel more confident.

Hello everyone,

It's Dorothy Ratusni.

Welcome to this,

I'm gonna call it a mini podcast because it's probably going to be fairly short in length.

What if you struggled with your ability to feel good about yourself,

Your sense of self?

And what if at the same time you struggled because you were both so very hard on yourself,

Critical,

Self-effacing,

Negative,

And at the same time unable to,

Or not allowing yourself to accept all of the goodness,

The accolades,

The positive things people say about you and to your face.

When you are not feeling good about yourself,

When you are struggling to find positives,

When you are consistently comparing yourselves to others and deciding that you've come up short,

It's really important that you begin to allow yourself to look at the good.

I don't mean that you need to focus on being better than others or in some way believing things that you don't quite feel are true,

But what I'm talking about is having an honest and truthful look at who you are because that is how you build sense of self.

When you are willing to see all of who you are and when you are willing to,

Here's another big step for so many of us,

To be that person in all aspects of your life,

You begin to feel the positiveness,

The truth of knowing your goodness.

And when I say goodness,

I'm talking about all the qualities about yourself that are admirable,

Such as being kind or thoughtful or caring.

When we can begin to be one way in all aspects of our life with all people in all situations and speak our truth,

Even if it's at times with a little bit of uncertainty in terms of how we will be received,

Then we begin to sigh with relief because we begin to see that we can be accepted for how we are,

We can be our true self in all aspects of our life.

And in so doing,

We begin to recognize the goodness,

The qualities about ourselves and to own those qualities that others have told us about,

That others see,

That others admire,

That perhaps we up until now haven't been willing to wholly embrace as our truth.

So if you are struggling with building your sense of self,

If you are at times feeling doubtful or uncertain,

If you are feeling at times hopeless to be able to embrace all of the goodness of who you are,

Begin to speak your truth more with more people in more situations,

More of the time,

And notice how you are accepted,

Notice how you feel,

Notice how your esteem and confidence grows.

Thank you so much for listening,

Everyone.

I look forward to catching up with you in another podcast.

Bye for now.

This was me my whole life. I've been sober almost 3 years now and found meditation about a year and a half ago. I love who I am today! Something I could never say and believe before. :)

Good pep talk, good reminder, it's much easier to feel down than up. Seems to me feeling up takes conscious effort, one of the many lessons we're here on planet earth to learn. ThanksπŸ’ž
