This is an Earth-converse meditation,
Or contemplation,
Focused on embracing paradox.
Perhaps as humans it is our biggest challenge and superpower.
For sure the non-human world seems to do it so effortlessly.
So settle in.
Take a relaxed and dignified posture.
And close your eyes if that feels right.
As you scan your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes,
Notice the paradoxical sensations.
Perhaps of contraction.
Tension.
Relaxation.
Aliveness.
Numbness.
Non-sensations.
All in one beautiful body.
Be with them all in awareness.
We are always being invited to notice and embrace the paradoxes of life.
To accept that more than one thing can be true at the same time.
Indeed the winter solstice is the summer solstice on the opposite side of the world.
The summer solstice is the winter solstice on the opposite side of the world.
In the winter solstice,
Darkness is deepest.
There is the longest night marking the start of winter but also turning towards summer.
On the opposite side,
The summer solstice is where light is at its fullest.
The shortest night marking the start of summer but turning towards winter.
We are always being invited to notice and embrace the paradoxes of life.
We can breathe out because we can breathe in.
We see the light because of the dark.
We live because we die.
In compost there is richness and in ending there's a beginning.
In sound there is silence.
In movement there is stillness.
In solitude there is connection.
The wind brings and takes away.
In burning there is transformation.
Water calms and re-energizes us.
We are always being invited to notice and embrace the paradoxes of life.
It is a cruel,
Crazy,
Beautiful world as Johnny Clegg sung or Glennon Doyle called Brutiful,
Life's Beauty and Brutality.
In the adult killer there is the innocent child.
We can attract through repelling.
In pain there may be pleasure.
In structure we can find freedom.
Our vulnerability can be our courage.
We may manifest through surrender.
We are our yin and yang.
We are always being invited to notice and embrace the paradoxes of life.
Noticing and embracing paradox we embrace the known and unknown.
The heard and the unheard.
The felt and the unfelt.
The seen and the unseen.
We embrace it all.
Noticing and embracing paradox we put out the welcome mat.
We say welcome.
We say yes and.
We liberate our hearts and minds.
We move expansively towards completeness rather than towards division.
We embody agility.
Our creativity and compassion is sparked by contradiction.
We are Rumi's guesthouse to all of life's experiences.
We give thanks to it all.
We embrace mystery and mystery.
We unite polarity.
We are one.
There are infinite invitations on this finite planet that is our home.
We are here to notice and embrace the paradoxes of life.
