Jai Gurudev!
How is Kriya?
Patanjali says that both Abhyasa and Vairagya are required to walk the path of spirituality.
What is Abhyasa?
Practice.
Practicing what?
What is Sadhana?
Sadhana?
Meditation and Kriya.
What you just did was Abhyasa.
And when you do this on a regular basis,
Everyday you do your Shatkriya,
Then you are continuing your Abhyasa.
Just doing it once in a week,
Is that Abhyasa?
You went to school,
Right?
You had to continuously learn the two times table,
The three times table,
The four times table.
Just once learning it,
Was it enough?
No,
You had to revisit it again and again and again.
Like that only long Kriya or Shatkriya is called Abhyasa.
Why?
Because we have to revisit it again and again and again.
It helps purify your inner environment.
Inner environment becomes toxic,
Not just because of the impurities that I inhale or through the food that I eat,
But also the mind makes the inner environment impure.
So Kriya or Abhyasa helps,
But is just Abhyasa enough?
But Anjali says no.
Vairagya.
What is Vairagya?
Dispassion.
Dispassion from what?
Feverishness from people.
Ah,
Feverishness for people.
I like this person or I hate this person.
Feverishness where a thing is concerned.
Oh,
New iPhone on the market.
IPhone arai?
Samsung arai?
Whatever.
I want that feverishness to get something which is new.
Feverishness for a situation.
Oh,
My job should not go.
Oh,
My boss should not say something to me.
Situation?
So the mind is stuck in all this and you go through all these everyday on a daily basis.
Yeah.
Vatanjali says Vairagya to people,
Situations and things.
Is that easy to do?
That's the most tough part.
Abhyasa,
Yes.
Kriya I can do.
But where it comes to Vairagya,
I have to put in additional effort.
Yes?
So where does that effort come from?
Oh,
What helps you?
What is the tool?
Knowledge.
Knowledge.
You keep forgetting.
Gurudev gave you live in the present moment.
Be happy right now.
Do not be a football of other people's opinions.
Do not see intentions behind other people's mistakes.
Remember all this we did in the basic course?
This is knowledge.
That was just the surface he touched in the basic course of happiness programme.
It has to be practiced on a regular basis for this Vairagya to set in,
No?
Have you become a Vairagya?
Tell me.
How many years in Art of Living?
Ten years,
Fifteen years,
Twenty years?
It's not happening,
No?
Why?
Something is lacking.
And what is that something?
What is it?
Courage to go forward.
Continuously absorbing my self in knowledge is the way.
You have Guruji's talks and videos.
How many times do you put it on and listen to it?
You have a one hour drive to work but you will put on nonsense news and nonsense music and you will spend that one hour but you will not put on Guruji's talk.
See how the mind is lost in people's situations and things?
You have to make that first effort of withdrawing from these people's situations and things and recognizing,
See I have a one hour drive to work,
One hour drive back.
What ever even half an hour drive is good enough?
Patanjali talks are half an hour talks.
Let me put on Guruji's talk today.
On the way to work if I listen to some knowledge I will calm down.
With that calm mind whatever I do in office will be so productive.
Are you seeing what I am saying?
So recognize these small small things.
Pick up a knowledge talk and listen.
If it's not happening that inner motivation is lacking then there are knowledge sessions happening.
Join those.
Any which way you find some method,
Some methodology that works for you to bring in by ragu in life.
Because just Abhayasa will not take you far.
Abhayasa is only hopping on one foot.
How far are you going to get?
If you really need to run,
You need two legs,
Two feet to run.
Both Abhayasa and Vairagya are required.
So if it's not happening do a little contemplation this week.
Go within.
Is Vairagya happening to me?
If it is not happening let me do something.
Let me find a way.
Whichever way.
Lots of talks are available.
Lots of books are available.
Some people are voracious readers.
You love to read.
Great.
Pick up Gurudev's book and start reading.
So commitment to yourself,
Not to me,
To your own self.
Everybody?
