We all want more love in our lives. But love doesn’t come from chasing it. It comes when you have the energy and attention to feel it. When you rest, when you stop scrolling, when you return to your own presence, love naturally appears. This is a reminder to come back to yourself, because that’s where love has been waiting all along.

People have been talking to me a lot about there being less love in their life than they'd like.

That there's not as much real connection.

The holidays are coming up soon.

People crave love.

Really,

Love is the only thing we want.

It's the only thing our heart wants.

Why is there less love in our life now than,

For example,

Our grandparents' lives?

Two reasons.

One,

Everyone is exhausted.

In a state of exhaustion,

You can't build relationships.

You don't have the resource for relationships.

So some people are just so much in their to-do list,

Doing so much more,

Trying to meet expectations,

Trying to check every box.

Sometimes you just need a break.

That's time in nature.

Time not on your phone.

So the first reason people aren't building happy relationships is sometimes there's just no resource.

Like,

Almost physically you don't have the resource.

You're too tired.

You're too tired to be patient with other people.

You're too tired for an energy exchange with other people.

And then the second reason is,

Of course,

Gadgets,

Phones.

Where your attention is is where your energy is.

If your attention is with,

Like,

What Kanye West is doing or with Brad Pitt's new girlfriend or with events halfway around the world,

That's where your energy moves.

Your energy is not in other people.

So fill yourself with strength by putting your attention on you and let your attention be with the people in your life and you have that exchange.

I'm in New York City and I see people all the time on their phones.

They walk with their phones.

They look at their phones.

They drink their latte on their phones.

Everything is on their phones.

For connection,

For love,

First you need presence.

If you have a loving,

Grateful presence,

Love comes easily in your life.

And if you have a presence that goes fully into the news and gadgets,

You won't have love in your life to the same extent.

So one hour spent on the phone,

Your ability to connect is minimum,

Not only to other people,

But also to yourself.

So I recommend one day a week with absolutely no phone,

24 hours without touching your phone.

That changes everything.

And I recommend maximum time in nature,

Maximum time connecting to your body,

Exercise,

Massage,

Walks,

Maximum time away from phones and daily meditation.

The daily meditation is non-negotiable,

Especially self-compassion meditation,

Because self-compassion meditation sends energy to you.

And once you have energy,

You can share that with all the people in your life.
