Forgiving Others and Forgiving Yourself If you have had a weight problem for any length of time,

You have had an opportunity to react to yourself as well as to others.

There are those for whom you hold resentments regarding your weight.

There are those for whom you hold resentments regarding your relationship with food.

And there are those for whom you hold resentments regarding your eating pattern.

And these can interfere with your ability to lose weight and keep it off.

In order for you to be free to move forward and to become the thin person you want to be,

You must forgive.

Anger can be very destructive.

By letting go of the anger,

You can redirect the energy you have been using to stay angry toward more productive goals.

You are free to expend the energy on something positive,

Something that will make you happy.

Now is the time to forgive all those whom you feel have helped you get overweight,

Those who have helped you stay overweight,

And those who you feel have influenced your self-esteem in a negative manner.

Include anyone whom you resent when it comes to your weight problem.

On a piece of paper,

Write I,

Then a comma.

Then fill in your name,

And then write FORGIVE.

Then fill in the other person's name,

And then write FOR.

Write the sentence as thoroughly as you can.

Be precise,

Stating exactly how you feel.

Do this with at least 10 people.

Forgiving others is a cleansing experience that frees you from expending energy negatively.

Next,

It is also time to forgive yourself for the beliefs,

Attitudes,

And behaviors that have influenced you in becoming overweight and staying that way.

Start by stating that you forgive yourself for the beliefs that have gotten and kept you overweight.

Write them down.

Then state that you forgive yourself for the attitudes that have gotten and kept you overweight.

Write them down.

And third,

State that you forgive yourself for the behaviors that have gotten and kept you overweight.

Take the time to write them all down.

Forgiveness brings freedom,

And you deserve the freedom to work toward long-term weight management.
