Welcome to Life,

Lessons and Laughter with your host,

Glenn Ambrose.

Hello.

Hi Glenn.

Are we live?

We're live.

We're here.

We're live.

We're live.

We're here.

We're live.

I love the opening video.

Me too.

It sends me out.

I have to tell the people in it that they're in it.

Yeah,

Exactly.

I'm going to be like,

Hey guys,

Guess what?

You made the cut.

Congratulations.

Hope that's cool.

Hope that's cool.

Oh well.

Please just sign this nifty difty little waiver.

So we don't have to go back and blur faces.

Yeah.

So Glenn,

You are in the DI.

I'm in the DI.

It's wicked nice.

Yeah.

It's nice.

I like the background.

It looks good.

Yeah,

I don't.

I'm still kind of up in the air.

I like having open spaces so I just put my desk in here because there's so much room.

So I don't know.

I might leave it here.

I'm a little concerned about the echo.

So I might have to go to a smaller room.

We'll see.

Yeah,

It's a good problem to have.

Exactly.

So here we are.

We're asking Glenn anything and I've been in the DR for,

I don't even know,

What day is today?

Thursday.

And I got here Sunday,

I believe.

So I have not been here very long.

Still the first week.

Yeah,

And I was working most of the week.

So it's a bit of a blur.

Love it.

Yeah,

It's all good.

Hey,

Look at that.

Ben Barber is joining us.

Isn't that interesting?

Hi Ben.

So I have one question here.

Let's do it.

From my household.

How's Faith?

How's Faith from Braden?

This is real.

He really wanted to know.

How's she doing for the moon?

She's doing great.

She's doing great.

I got her a bed today.

See that big round bed she's laying on back there?

Very nice.

You just got it today?

Yeah.

It's good that she's taken to it so quickly.

She loved it as soon as I brought it in.

And the thing's used.

I was like.

.

.

It's like another dog?

Yeah.

One of my friends.

She's cool with it.

She loves the thing.

Hey Sarah.

Oh,

Hello.

Yes,

My friend was nice enough to invite me to a garage sale of a friend that sold their house.

So we went over and grabbed a few things this morning.

We saw this big bed and I'm like,

I don't know.

You know,

A used dog bed?

I don't know.

But I mean they're very clean people.

Beautiful house.

It'll probably be fine.

And it was like three bucks.

I was like,

I'll take a chance.

So I brought it home and she was loving this bed.

She's just like.

.

.

You know that they put their scent.

.

.

They have scent glands on their paws.

Oh yeah?

Yeah.

So when they're digging at it and stuff,

It's activating their scent glands and getting their scent on it.

So she was doing that,

Claiming it and all that stuff.

But she's like.

.

.

I have another cover up on the couch.

She sits with me.

She's like,

Nope.

I'm chilling on my bed.

There you go.

So she's digging it.

Good.

So Faith is doing great.

She was amazing on the plane.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Through the airport.

Through the airport,

She looked like a pro.

She's like,

We'd stand in line and I'd take a step forward and she'd take a step forward.

Oh wow.

Like,

I mean,

I was like,

Geez.

Like,

Are you.

.

.

Have you done this before?

Yeah,

Exactly.

So.

.

.

My dog.

Yeah.

We wouldn't take her out of the house for anything.

No.

Let alone an airport.

That would have been a disaster.

That would have been like Disney Channel movie,

Ridiculous style.

Like chasing her to the airport.

She got a little excited when she saw another dog.

They have relief areas for dogs in the airports now.

Oh good.

So you can go and they can go take a dump or take a leak in this little room.

Good.

So I waited and then just in case and she ain't gone in a while.

And so I.

.

.

And somebody came out with their dog and she was like,

Oh,

Let's play.

So that was the only time she got a little excited.

But other than that,

She was phenomenal.

I'm glad she did well.

Yeah.

I mean,

I didn't really have any expectations,

But she did better than I expected if I had any.

Exactly.

Well,

Good to hear.

Yeah.

Penn's got a question.

Do you know what Christmas will look like in the Dominican Republic?

Probably very similar to Christmas anywhere else,

I would imagine.

I mean,

It is very Christian here.

Yeah.

You know,

So there's a large Christian population,

So I'm sure they're going to take it very seriously,

And I'm sure it's going to be loud.

Yes.

A bit hectic.

Yeah.

Because that's how things are.

It's like it's very peaceful,

Like where I am and the people that I'm with and even the energy and it's happy and all that stuff.

But there is a hectic aspect to it,

Man.

You know,

Like we were coming from the airport to my place,

Which is like 20 minutes or something.

And my friend was driving and somebody like swerved around us and passed us on a scooter with some guy driving with this older lady with gray hair holding a long styrofoam noodle.

That's so cool.

And this is what swerved by us passing us on a main drag just missing an oncoming car.

And my friend looks at me and she's like,

Welcome back.

I was like,

Yeah,

Here we are.

You don't see this in the States.

Somebody's tire hits the yellow line in between and people are like,

What is this person doing?

Here?

They're like their lines are imaginary.

Oh,

Yeah.

Yeah.

Every day.

Fully not in the other lane is a win.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean,

Lanes are suggestions at best.

Not even now.

But yeah,

I don't think I am interested to see what it is like because I'm sure they're going to get into it in their style,

Which is very flamboyant.

And,

You know,

Man,

When they party,

They open up at party.

It's it'll be a little different than the New England Christmas.

Yeah.

Especially this year.

Yeah.

Well,

Since we talked about Christmas,

Talk about the New Year.

Here's a good question that we got in.

What things are you leaving behind in 2020?

Wow,

What am I leaving behind in 2020?

Besides the United States?

Yeah,

That's kind of a big one.

I mean,

That's check.

Yeah,

I think I think it's just kind of for me,

It's it's symbolic.

It's not because I think that we are in control of our own reality.

So,

Like,

I feel much more peaceful here,

But I don't think everybody needs to move somewhere to feel peaceful.

So there is this is when you start getting into spirituality because there's always a dichotomy in spirituality.

So it's like if you look at it this way,

It's like this.

If you look at it this way,

Then it's like that.

And it's like,

Well,

You know,

Peace comes from within.

Happiness comes from within.

So we can have it anywhere.

Does that mean some places can't be more conducive?

No,

I mean,

Some places can be a little bit more helpful,

But that's what it is.

It's a little bit more helpful.

And,

You know,

Like if we're we're so addicted to looking externally.

That that's what we should not be doing.

Like we we do it way,

Way,

Way,

Way,

Way,

Way,

Way too much.

We should do it like one percent and we do it 100 percent.

So there's enormous scaling back that we should be doing on that.

It doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

You know,

Atmosphere can play a part,

But it's such a small percentage of of what the amount of peace and love and happiness that you can bring to your life that you shouldn't be going to look for it.

You should be doing the inside work.

And then as you do the inside work,

Who knows,

Maybe you'll be led somewhere.

You know,

That's kind of how I didn't go looking for the D.

R.

I was led here.

It just kind of fell into place.

And then once I was here,

It felt right.

Like,

You know,

I wasn't going like,

Geez,

I'm not really feeling happy or peaceful.

I need to go to a place that has more peace and happiness and then maybe I'll be OK.

That was never a thought,

You know,

And I think that that's important because if you go looking,

If I was looking for it here,

I probably would have got here.

I wouldn't even have noticed it because my insides would have been all messed up still.

You know,

So so with that in mind,

I think it's you know,

A lot of stuff is symbolic.

This is kind of symbolic.

It's not my next step in my evolution spiritually,

But it's symbolic of my next step.

Of my evolution spiritually,

You know,

So I'm really leaning into doing my inside work.

It just so happens that I'm doing that here instead of there.

So it's but I think I'm leaving my old way of life,

You know,

I kind of I was a parent most of my spiritual life for the last 17 years.

That was my primary roles and I loved it.

So I kind of had to have and I wasn't the sole parent.

That means I had to co-parent to some degree.

So I had to figure out how to have a child and teach him about spirituality because I felt that that was the truth,

But also have him fit into society to some degree too.

So I couldn't I had to ride that fence a little bit with with my life and with him.

And I did it to the best of my ability.

And now,

You know,

He's older and he's very responsible and,

You know,

Opening up to his own life.

Now,

You know,

I can kind of swan dive into some deeper spirituality,

Which I'm looking forward to.

Yeah.

There you go.

So there.

So that's my long winded answer.

Now,

What's that?

What's Ben saying?

I almost said,

What's Dave saying?

What's Ben saying?

We need to get a logo of some sort of repeat on that big TV in the background.

Things we should have like a,

You know,

Like in the shows,

They have like a logo that's just like loops.

Just looks like a nice little graphic going on.

Like you're in a studio or something.

Something professional.

And in my on my TV.

Yeah.

I like the sleeping dog that works.

Yeah.

That's better.

Look at.

I mean,

You I've heard you say many times on your podcast and in life coaching sessions that everybody's way to focus on the extra.

Like if I made enough money,

If I had this job,

If I lived in this specific place,

Everything would be different.

And you've always said you've always made the point of that's not true at all.

No,

It's not true.

It's not true.

And it's and it's actually backwards.

You know,

We live we live from the outside in thinking once we fix everything outside,

Then we'll feel happiness inside.

And we have to fix the inside.

And then everything outside reflects that back to us.

So it's you know,

I don't that's you know,

It's you know,

In and out of spirituality slash sobriety.

I struggled.

I struggled before I struggled after it.

You know,

Life is not.

A walk in the park all the time,

But I've made the commitment to do my work and and a lot of people,

You know,

It's amazing to me when I stop,

Which I don't do often enough and look back at like,

You know,

When when I first moved into the Life Enhancement Center and started that and Coventry and we started doing the podcast at your little office with the with the ceiling falling down.

Oh,

Yeah.

You know,

And all that,

You know,

And then and then,

Oh,

Okay,

The Life Enhancement Center and all the work that went into that and then moving out of that and then the podcast and then,

You know,

Moving to Florida and then moving to here and,

You know,

All this stuff.

And it's only been like,

You know,

Seven,

Eight years.

Something like that.

So,

You know,

From the outside,

It looks probably fairly impressive.

It didn't feel like that the whole time going through it,

You know.

So but then all of a sudden people say,

Oh,

Okay,

You have your own life coaching business that's online so you can work from anywhere and you just moved to the Caribbean.

Oh,

My God,

You're so lucky.

Like,

I'm lucky.

Have you heard me tell the story of my life?

I mean,

You know,

Like,

I'm lucky.

No,

I'm not lucky.

You know,

Like I suffered just like everybody else has suffered.

But I also decided to do the work and then,

You know,

And then doing the inside work,

It starts reflecting the external back and also on my external look night looks nice.

People like,

Oh,

You're so lucky.

It's like not luck has got nothing to do with it.

You know,

Luck is taking action,

Leaning into things and doing it most mostly doing the inside work.

Also,

Look,

Look,

Kind of suggest that,

Like,

They they can't achieve the same things for themselves.

And you write it out and it's like,

It's not really that unattainable for anybody,

Right?

No,

Not at all.

I assume that's what probably bothers you,

Too.

It's like,

No,

No,

No.

Don't act like like it's not possible for anyone else or just like few.

This is possible for anyone.

Anyone.

And it's you know,

It's you look at absolutely any level of success.

You know,

I mean,

My level of success is.

Like,

If you compare it externally to people who are very successful in other industries,

I'm not on the chart.

I am not rolling in dough.

You know,

It's.

But like any level of success that people reach,

It's it's like they the only thing that was different from them and other people was their mindset.

You know,

It was they decided to go for it and kept going for it.

And,

You know,

It's it's the mindset and then moving towards what brings you joy.

In any area,

It's you know,

I think like I heard somebody explain,

Like it's falling in love with the journey.

You know,

Usually we're we're attached to the end result.

Oh,

I want to be rich and famous someday.

You know,

And that could be anyone.

I want to be an actor.

I want to be a musician.

I want to be a world famous life coach.

I want to be an athlete,

Whatever,

Whatever,

You know,

Goal you have.

It's falling in love with the goal is easy,

You know,

Because it's all shiny and looks pretty.

But the people who make it fall in love with the journey,

They fall in love with what they need to do to get there.

So it doesn't feel like work.

And then all of a sudden they eventually end up there like I didn't I had no point.

Have I ever done anything trying to achieve what I've achieved?

You know,

It was just the next right thing.

I didn't say,

Oh,

I'm going to start a podcast so then it can go international.

So then my my business will go online.

So then I can move to Florida.

So then I can move to the like none of that was on the agenda.

It wasn't like a big graph you put out on your wall and you're like,

It's all connected.

Yeah.

I had no idea.

One step at a time.

Right.

It's just what can I do now?

Well,

You know,

It's so like when I found that business space,

It was just like,

Oh,

Look,

This building is cool.

It has an apartment and a business space.

Now,

How can I have enough streams of revenue to pay for it?

Well,

I could do personal training,

I can do life coaching,

I can do Reiki,

I can have events,

I can show movies.

I can you know,

So I just came up with as many streams of revenue that would pull a few bucks in each way.

And after a while,

I was like,

Oh,

Look,

I think I might be able to with a little luck,

This could happen.

And I was collecting food stamps at the time and I just doubled my rent.

So like it was,

You know,

And the only thing that I was already doing that I had any idea about how much money I could make at it was the personal training.

Right.

All the other streams of revenue I wasn't really doing yet.

So I wasn't so that was just,

You know,

That was just a blind shot in the dark going,

Maybe this will work.

But it seemed right.

And then that led to something else and led to something else.

So,

Yeah,

I think it's it's the Follow Your Dream podcast.

Or this isn't a podcast,

But whatever the hell this is,

That's quite follow your dream session.

Here's one.

This is a good one.

I like that we got in.

What are some ways you work on disconnecting from the eco?

Just putting space,

I think.

Awareness is the biggest thing,

So it's,

You know,

Just being aware of it,

Which I think,

You know,

That's a big thing.

Not taking things so seriously.

Like we just a little while ago,

You know,

When right before I moved,

Things were going very fast and I was talking with a friend of mine down here and she said it happens to her like this to.

Like everything goes very smoothly with these life changes and it feels right and it's cool.

But then when the time comes to actually make the move,

Everything speeds up and gets very intense for a little bit.

You know,

And that's how my last week was.

And it's so I kind of had to put a little extra.

And,

You know,

Watching of my mind.

Was Ben trying to pop on?

So so like I would I'd be sitting I'd be driving and I was experimenting with it.

I'd like thoughts would be going through my head.

Sometimes there were judgmental thoughts about another person driving or just random stuff,

Just shooting through my brain.

And I was just driving down the road and I was going,

That's not that's not my thought.

Either.

I didn't think that I didn't choose that.

That's not my thought.

That's just my brain.

That's just my brain going.

You know,

Like my brain was just running quickly.

So it was spitting out random thoughts.

And what I wanted to do was judge myself for them because some of you know,

Well,

Most of them were negative.

I was being judgmental and I was like,

I'm not being judgmental because I didn't choose that thought.

That's just the leftover judgmental thought that shooting through.

So it's like these are random.

You know,

I didn't I didn't say,

Hey,

Think of that person you saw last week at the store.

And then make a judgment on whether they're a good person or not.

I didn't I didn't do that.

It was just like that person was a jerk.

It's like,

Well,

Where'd that come from?

You know,

So if if I didn't if I didn't choose that thought.

Then I shouldn't be punishing myself for it,

Because that's what that's what kind of feeds the loop.

You know,

We like we have these thoughts and we go,

Oh,

I'm having these negative thoughts.

I must be a negative person.

I must be a bad person because I'm judging others.

That's not nice.

And then we feel bad about ourselves.

So then we what if it's true?

If the person is a jerk.

Yeah,

This person me.

But it's not.

I know.

I know.

I'm just now just playing.

No,

That's right.

So it's we feel those things.

Yeah,

We feel those things.

So it's just about you know,

It's it's just about not taking things so seriously and understanding that like that,

You know,

Just put some space between and see if see it for what it is.

It's just it just starts popping through.

And our ego has no power.

It can't do it.

It can't do anything,

You know,

Like it does it.

It can't control our lives.

The problem is when we think it's us,

Then it's in control.

And then that that's when it starts controlling us.

So,

You know,

We stop believing these thoughts.

Oh,

I should do this and I should do that.

I should do that.

What says who?

You know,

It's just your ego.

Your ego's job is there to protect you from possible danger.

And we don't know how to turn it off.

So it's just constantly running.

So it's just going like,

You know,

Oh,

Well,

I don't have anything to think about.

So I'll look for possible problems to try to protect you.

So it's just spitting out possible problems.

Oh,

You know,

You've got to stay away from that person or that person driving is an idiot.

You've got to watch out for them.

And it's it's constantly doing stuff to warn us of possible danger.

And we just have to we have to get back in control of it,

Put some space in between it and just see it and just don't like when it's very similar to like when you're meditating.

If you're meditating and the thought goes through that says I should go grocery shopping when I'm done,

That is not a problem.

It's a problem when it goes,

I should go grocery shopping when I'm done.

And then our brain grabs a hold of it and it goes,

Yeah.

And I wonder if broccoli is on sale and if it's still going to have the long stems on it or if they stop doing that.

And then bananas,

We have to get bananas.

And then remember,

I bought two things of lettuce last time and I threw one of them in the trash because it went bad before we even ate it.

So maybe I should get one.

That's the problem.

Should I leave right now?

Should I leave now?

Should I go?

So it's not a thought passing through has no power.

It's really not a problem.

It's when we attach to it and ride it and our attention gives it the power to continue on.

That's that's where it gets its energy from our consciousness,

Our conscious attention.

That's the fuel.

That's the fuel for it.

So if we just.

Just don't really.

Oh,

Yeah.

Grocery shopping.

I had a thought about grocery shopping.

You know,

Everything's fine,

So it's you know,

That's kind of can be part of meditation and it also can be.

You know,

Part of the ego disconnecting from the ego,

It's just awareness.

You know,

I think it's funny that this got asked because I just saw some quote from Tolay that I don't think I had ever seen.

And it said something like.

Once once you're once you know that your ego is your ego,

You don't have an ego.

Something like that,

You know,

So once you once you recognize it for what it is and you go,

Oh,

That's just a kind of a thoughtless record player or data data bank that's just spitting out random thoughts.

They don't have any power.

They're not me.

Then they you know,

They don't have any control over anything.

I can just let them go.

Then your life gets much more smooth.

You know,

Because you so it's really about putting space in between so you can recognize your your what's what's the ego and what's you which you know,

Usually just sitting there peaceful.

It's the real you.

It's not like you got to go well that thoughts the ego and this thought isn't.

Yeah.

No,

They're all the ego.

Like if you're just being present.

There are no thoughts.

And then you can turn on your brain and go what's two plus two and it goes,

Oh,

Thank you.

Thank you for giving me a job.

It's for you go okay cool shut up.

And then you go back to your life.

That's what it's there for,

You know,

Or to either you can use your brain to think of things and to as a tool but then you can turn it off.

Or when it says hey watch out for that person crossing over the lane.

You can go oh thank God that that thought popped up.

Or just helped me avoid an accident.

Thank you.

That's a little much.

I don't have to pay attention to that one.

So we ultimately have the choice,

Whether,

Whether you know we.

The problem is is when the ego says something,

We believe it,

Instead of when the ego says something we either go yes thank you or no thank you.

That's our job.

We have a question so your random thoughts or ego.

Yes.

Yes.

Random thoughts or ego.

So,

Like you know and I noticed that when I was when I was getting sober.

It's like,

When I got when I got sober you know I'd be like,

Oh my god I just had a thought like,

I want to go have a beer.

You know,

So like in the beginning you're so freaked out.

You know I call up my sponsor I'm like oh my god I just thought about having a beer,

And he's like,

Well,

Do you want to go have one.

I don't,

I don't know.

Well,

Think about it like,

Are you thinking hey I should go drive to the store and get one or I should stop at a bar is there like a craving,

Are you,

You know,

Are you ready to go take some action to go get one.

Go.

No,

No.

It's okay it's just a thought don't worry about it.

Like,

Ah,

So that's your shoot through.

I didn't know that shoot through and shoot through for years.

I still have whacked out thoughts.

I mean,

You know,

There are a lot less than they were,

But,

You know,

Especially like,

Like criminal thoughts,

Because,

Like,

Like criminal stuff can be so creative.

Like,

So yeah so this is something that I just,

I noticed like somebody posted something,

I don't know,

A few days ago or something.

And I posted on it and I was like,

And it was just some hype but you know where I'm 52 like a lot of my friends are especially from back home around the same age and we're not doing the same things we used to when we're younger.

So it's just kind of,

Hey,

Should I go commit this crime post as a joke.

And I was like,

Well hey if you're going to go commit that crime you should probably delete this post,

Have somebody go do this for you and then come around back,

And then you'll that that'll be a perfect setup for it.

And I'd laugh because I'm like,

My mind still works like that.

Like I did in high school like I'd be like figuring out all the,

Because it was like this active,

It was creativity to me back then,

Like if I could figure out,

You know,

And I did in school all the time.

It's our one time the teachers like stopped us because we're walking around like 10 minutes before class or something,

Or before school I don't know.

And they're like,

How do you guys do this.

Like you guys get away with everything.

And this,

This is the one time a day,

There's like five minute block where nobody can be unaccounted for and somehow here you guys are doing it.

Like how,

How,

You know,

It was these two teachers that were that stopped us and asked us,

It was funny because it's like,

That's what we did that you know I just used to like looking at systems and dismantling them.

And I was just figuring out,

Like,

And then going to the principal and going like hey,

I'm going to leave for a couple days.

And he'd be like,

You,

You can't do that,

I'd be like,

Oh yeah,

I can,

Because I,

You can either let me leave for a couple days or I can go grab that fire extinguisher spray it up and down the hallway and then I can leave for a few days.

Your call.

Because I figured out the system,

You know.

And he was,

If I do something like that I get a three day suspension.

So I was like,

You know,

Either give me a couple days or I'm just going to walk outside your office and do something to get one.

So I would use the system against them once I had figured it out.

So my mind still does stuff like that.

It's just it's,

It's like a creativity avenue for me and,

You know,

I laugh at it I don't do any of it.

Oh,

Yes.

Obviously,

Yeah,

Not for the record they those thoughts just pass right there.

They do.

So Ben found the quote.

Yeah,

He ego is no longer ego when you know there is ego.

See,

That's great.

I think I said it kind of close.

Very close.

Well,

Oh,

Real quick.

Is it possible to meditate while going on a walk?

Absolutely.

You know,

I believe the extended question was not having a lot of time during the day.

And is it possible you can get it in while you're.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Lots of lots of religious traditions literally have walking meditations.

Yeah,

I did one and I did one at the Providence and center in Cumberland,

Rhode Island.

So the Buddhist monks there we did a,

You know,

First they give you a class on a little bit about Buddhism and then how the meditation is going to go.

And then you go into this big room and you meditate.

And I was lucky enough that there was a ton of monks there that day because sometimes it's kind of like an empty room with just a few people.

But yeah,

It was I mean,

I don't even know how many.

There was a lot.

We sat there.

Oh my God,

Ben,

You are a pain in the butt.

Cumberland is in Providence.

Yeah,

I know the name of the center,

Man.

I didn't name it.

But we meditated for a while and then a bell rang or something.

Then you got up and you did a walking meditation for a while.

And you sat down,

Did another seated one.

And,

You know,

Like so.

Yeah,

Lots of I mean,

Any tiktok Han has a very famous tea meditation.

It's how to drink tea.

I've seen meditations how to eating potato chip meditation like you can turn it you literally can turn anything into a meditation.

So it doesn't have to be the like cliche like you just have to be sitting with your eyes closed.

No,

Definitely not.

I mean,

Petting an animal can be a meditation.

You know,

It's like any one of the reasons that like shoveling raking leaves mowing a lawn.

Yeah,

That's when you feel yourself get into it.

Right.

Right.

Yeah.

You drop right in because you're burning off the surface nervous energy through the activity and then you drop into this peaceful place.

And it's very meditative,

You know.

So yeah,

Lots of people.

That's that's why a lot of a lot of people that work with their hands.

That's one of the reasons why they do it.

Like a lot of people that work with their hands are very peaceful people,

You know,

Depending on the situation,

Of course.

But I mean,

If they choose to and stuff like people that work with their hands a lot because they can a lot of times they can go into a mental space where,

You know,

They're just using their hands and they're doing something physical and they know what they're doing and they're comfortable with it and they're relaxed and they drop right in.

And they can be in a very meditative state,

Rock climbing,

You know.

So so this is actually interesting.

So it's like sometimes it can be kind of like a mindless meditation where you just float away.

Yeah.

And then sometimes it's a focused meditation.

So like people who do rock climbing,

Especially without safety robes,

Like though you like you've got to be completely focused on what you're doing every single second,

Which quiets the mind.

You can't have thought shooting through.

This is why people get addicted to it.

Right.

Because that's like that's when they get their peace.

Remember when I told you I was like singing in the shower one day and I saw you and I was like,

Hey,

Dave,

I realized that like you can't really think when you're singing.

Right.

And you were like,

Yeah,

I was like,

That's cool.

No wonder why it's so enjoyable,

Because if you're singing,

You're not sitting there going,

You know,

Gee,

Should I get the broccoli at the grocery store?

You're like in the moment,

You know,

And when I do,

It's when I'm finding myself coming out of it.

Right.

I have to get back into it.

But when you went in the moment,

It's pretty much it's the music.

And that's that is addicting in itself of that.

Oh,

I can imagine.

Jesus.

Yeah.

Like I take if I get into it,

I'll take a much longer shower.

Yeah.

Lisa.

Yeah.

Lisa's been to the Providence Zen Center in Cumberland,

Rhode Island.

Ben Barber,

Wise ass.

And I oh,

I walked around for a minute.

It was really nice.

Almost a meditative state.

Yeah.

I was telling Ben,

Maybe we should do like a podcast on this.

I won't go into it.

But I was talking to Ben about grounding and earthing.

And it's really I got into it big time over here because I was walking the beach all the time.

So I would take,

You know,

And then sometimes if I couldn't walk the beach,

I'd still just go outside and take my shoes off and put them on the earth.

And it's a whole scientific thing about the moon and the earth and ions and all this crap.

But it's like when I earth every day,

It makes a gigantic difference in my my state of mind and peaceful.

You know,

The level of peace that I experience.

Standing in the shower.

Yes.

I have a contagious laugh.

Maria.

Oh my God.

Maria.

We she grew up with me.

We used to laugh our asses off sometimes,

Man.

It was fun.

I tell I've told her a few stories about like when I got electrocuted and stuff and she'd be like laughing.

Oh,

It's hilarious.

Good times.

Well,

Well,

I think I think that'll do it.

This is a good one.

Yeah.

Lisa did forest therapy with Karen.

Yes.

Karen got I don't know the details,

But I did see that Karen in Rhode Island.

She got a certification in my forest therapy or something.

I was like,

Whoa,

That has got to be good.

Yeah.

Yeah.

My friend Karen.

Well,

Lisa as well.

And a lot of Lisa's husband.

And like a lot of those people,

They go for hikes regularly so they know the healing part of nature.

You know,

First therapy.

The phrase alone sounds incredibly peaceful.

Yeah.

You just imagine like that sounds nice.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Like for real.

Oh,

It is.

It's that I'm telling you,

That's one of the biggest things that I got from the D.

R.

It was Rick when I was here for two months.

It was reconnecting with the earth.

Yeah,

I have never been like,

I mean,

Will I go grab a tree and give it a hug?

Yeah,

I guess so.

Maybe a couple other people are doing it,

You know,

Whatever.

If the time feels right,

You know,

I got nothing against trees,

Whatever,

You know.

But like,

That's not been my go to.

I loved climbing Mount Mananock in New Hampshire.

You know,

I,

I love being outside with the fresh air in Florida.

I mean,

I get it to some degree.

Coming here and connecting with nature consistently and in raw ways and really diving into it.

I was like,

Oh my God,

I am hooked.

I am so hooked.

Nature is so healing.

Just literally just walking out,

Touching a tree,

Bare feet in the sand or the grass and just sitting there.

Like you can literally,

It's like feeling God.

You know,

I mean,

You might have to do it for a little while to make that connection.

But as soon as I came back here,

I was like,

I was kicking my shoes off and going out in the backyard and going,

Oh,

I wasn't doing this enough in Florida.

I'm sorry.

I'm back.

That's awesome.

Yeah.

So I guess we'll wrap it up.
