The Best Morning Meditation
I cover how to meditate; that is technique and context. I discuss types of meditation, and why the Buddha uses what he did. Mentality of the technique and how it is an integral part of the human experience. Why are there so many types of meditation when we only need one?

This is my reflection on the best morning meditation My name is James Orman I am also Known as Acharya James Orman on YouTube Acharya is Basically just a title of a of a teacher spiritual teacher Typically in the Hindu or Buddhist tradition and so Why is this the best morning meditation?
I found that For meditating it's best to do it early in the morning Generally right after you've waken up and then again in the evening at some time when things have calmed down after the activities of the day,
But specifically morning meditation Because as I'll go through the instructions here will be that you just want it completely Drive your life into What you would like it to be and ultimately what it could be There are many Siddha meditations,
Which is birth,
Healing,
Co-strengthening,
Penance,
Life,
And more I have looked at a lot of Buddha Mahaprabha meditations in some time prior to making this video That's just some of the examples that I've found But personally Most of this is just a mark in my sense.
Orphic Buddhism needs some more structure.
In fact,
It's not very good The Buddha found perfect meditation for every age about 20 centuries ago It is perfect in good times and bad for richer or for poorer in sickness and in health The point of insight meditation as the Buddha taught was not about achieving something good like meditation at all.
It was not a particular occasion.
It was about the occasion.
It was about life.
Reflection,
Connecting with God,
Meditation on loss,
Forgiveness,
Morning,
Evening,
Sleep,
Or dealing with PTSD Meditations all appear as popular reasons to meditate But for a Buddhist meditator Meditation is a way of life.
It's a chase the eons-long cycle of rebirth Because it's always the answer to everything It is an integral part of the practice in often days in Asia Now in Buddhism,
Not everyone has to meditate But that's a subject for another time I attended a retreat led by two nuns recently They said that any Buddhist who contemplates or meditates on the past knows that regardless of the person's background or the way of how things are Eventually they will come to believe that we were born after time and time again And there's also a side note on that Reincarnation is for those who believe in a soul A particular kind of an entity that gets put into different bodies over the centuries But Buddhists don't believe in an eternal soul They believe in karmic energy that drives into another body So they call it rebirth rather than reincarnation So,
Let's get back to the meditation This meditation is simple,
There are no gimmicks,
No imagery Although Buddhists do use imagery sometimes There's nowhere to go and no one to be,
As Jack Kornfield says Insight meditation teaches a person to be present in the moment Because the moment is all we really have And to deal with that moment is the point of the meditation Whatever it may be,
It's treated in an honest,
Consistent way There may be ups,
Downs,
And in-betweens But insight meditation along with concentration The core of Buddhist meditation are all that we need For me as a teacher of meditation for 15 years Those interested in meditation should get to know this practice Because it is so simple,
Straightforward,
And purpose made However,
I never said it is easy In fact,
Actually doing a practice is in fact difficult at times It is,
If you're going to really take it seriously that is Taking a meditation too seriously is wrong also And can lead us away from the true path So let's start our practice now And just kind of a brief overview here At first,
Concentrate on your breath The breath is a constant So the Buddha picked it as an easy tool to concentrate our minds We may feel the breath at the tip of the nose Maybe back deeper in the nose Or in the mouth or throat Pay attention to that place until your mind is concentrated Now think about deep belly breathing Fill your lungs from the bottom up and vice versa After a while doing this,
You'll notice that your mind will wander Maybe you'll think about what is for dinner Maybe how boring this meditation is Or what you will do later today Maybe you'll worry about your marriage or something else Whatever the case,
You'll be drawn away Into some daydream,
Worry or other thought Sometimes the thoughts may become very serious In fact,
For most meditators,
The things that come up often Are the things that are psychological hang-ups for them For many,
Their deepest desires or mental pains Are what come up for them The things that are unforgotten or unforgiven The unfinished tasks of our mental life Now that you have noticed this thing,
Acknowledge it And bring your attention back to the breath This is the basic cycle In time,
You will get better and better And your calm and mental insight will become better You will experience great joy and sometimes great sadness in your meditation Over the years,
Though,
You will become more concentrated Less stressed and may come to see the inherent silliness of most human activities You will learn to live lightly on the earth And your moral compass will grow To include kindness for all living beings Even those that would hurt you So,
You might say that it seems almost too simple And in fact,
In some ways,
It sort of is But however,
I've found this personally to be the best meditation practice While there are many specific meditations And people are inventing new ones all the time Meditation is the basic practice The foundation of any meditation must be calming the mind Followed by insights into the experience of being a human So,
Let's do a brief introduction now I've talked a little bit about the practice And let's go ahead and do one for real here now So,
Start by sitting in a comfortable position It's encouraged to sit on the floor because it's easier to feel grounded and solid In a chair,
You tend to not be able to sit solidly for a long time Balance is very difficult And it's more difficult to concentrate in a chair Next,
You must start breathing from the belly,
Not the chest Don't control the breath,
Allow the body to breathe on its own Bend your chin to the kinetic disk early As your chin lifts from the kinetic volume,
The chin doubles Laying on it with back breath This is the basic procedure of meditation It's not fancy or exciting But it's the basic technique people have used To become enlightened for over 2600 years So generally,
We recommend that you sit stiffly But not stiffly With your head erect And not strained or protracted or anything like that That you concentrate on relaxing your arms You can either fold your hands Or lay them upside down Or right side up On your lap or legs And then,
It's generally encouraged to fold the legs Even in full lotus,
But that's not completely necessary Those are the foundations of mindfulness and insight meditation Again,
Like I said,
Not anything fancy But it has been successfully drawing people into self-awakening For over 2600 years May you all be well May you all be happy May you all become enlightened
