In this playful yoga and guided relaxation practice, parents and young children do star pose together, both standing up and and lying down. After moving, you will practice relaxing and being still. Remember parents, children's yoga looks a little different, so don't get caught up trying to fix their movement. If your child can relax even for a few minutes, you are on your way to teaching them how to meditate. I would love to hear your feedback. Enjoy your family practice!

Hello friends.

Thank you for joining me today.

Let's play with star pose.

But first,

Reach your hands out to the sides as far as you can,

Take a big breath in,

And then let that breath out while you give yourself a big hug.

Hug breath.

Let's do a couple more of those.

Reach your arms out,

Take a big breath in,

And then let your breath out and give yourself a big hug.

One more big breath in,

Reaching your arms out to the sides,

And then give yourselves a big hug.

Great job.

Let's be a star.

Stand up and put your feet far apart.

Reach your hands out to the sides just like you did.

Stretch your body as straight as you can.

Imagine that you're the shape of a star and shine your light.

Take a big breath here,

Holding star pose,

And let it go.

Take another big breath in,

And let it go.

Keep holding,

You can do it.

One more big breath in,

Stretching as tall and as wide as you can.

Nice job.

Now let's shake.

Start by shaking your fingers,

Maybe you wiggle your fingers,

And now shake your hands.

Now your elbows and your whole arms.

Good job.

Now start wiggling your head a little bit,

And then shake your shoulders and your hips.

Nice.

Now start at your feet,

Shake one foot,

And now shake that whole leg.

Awesome.

And now shake the other foot and shake that leg.

And now shake your whole body,

Wiggling your head,

Arms,

Body,

Feet,

Legs,

Everything.

Awesome.

Awesome.

Let's take a few hug breaths.

Reach your arms out to the side,

Take a big breath in,

And then give yourself a hug and let that breath go.

Nice.

Two more like that.

Big breath in,

Arms to the side,

And let it go.

Give yourself a hug.

And one more big,

Huge breath in,

Biggest one of all.

And now squeeze yourself tight and let that breath out.

Beautiful.

Now we're going to melt.

Start melting your whole body slowly down all the way to the ground.

Once you're there,

Put your belly face up and lie on the ground in star pose.

Stretch your feet wide and put your arms over your head,

But stretch them wide too.

Make yourself as big as you can,

But lying on the ground.

Awesome.

Breathe in and out,

And imagine your breath is like the ocean.

Listen to the sound of your breath as you breathe in and out,

And in and out.

Nice.

Awesome.

Now imagine the waves are washing over you like you're a sea star.

Listen to your breath and imagine the waves coming over you and then going away.

Imagine the warm sun shining down on you.

Imagine the water is warm.

Let your body sink down into the sand and let your body totally rest.

Breathe in and breathe out and sink down into the sand.

It feels good to be a star.

Let's do an affirmation together.

When the waves wash up,

Say to yourself,

I am happy.

Nice.

I am happy.

Keep that water breath going.

Breathing in and out.

I am happy.

Now take a moment as the little sea star and shine your light up toward the sun.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

I am happy.

Thank you,

Friends,

For joining me today.

Don't forget to keep shining your light as you move through your day.

Namaste.

I see your light.
