I have difficulty doing things that are unpleasant in the near term like exercising and eating well even though I appreciate the positive outcome that will result.

Do you have suggestions about how I can engage in meditation more often and more fully when I am distracted by other tasks?

For example,

There are many cases where I don't feel good even though I know how to exercise regularly and eat well.

Is there a way to engage in meditation more often and more fully when I am distracted by other tasks?

I don't think your objective should be to engage in meditation more often and more fully.

Let me reverse that and ask you a question.

Why do you want to meditate?

If we are picky about food we eat,

We want to use it as medicine.

Our objective is to either heal our sickness or make our bodies better.

Whether it's food or medicine,

There are two ways to go about eating it.

One is to heal the current sickness you might have.

The other one is more preventative to stave off any sickness or disease in the future.

Take that analogy to your mind.

The mind also has suffering.

In other words,

It could suffer from disease.

So when we do something,

We do it to heal the current sickness you have in your mind,

Certain disease,

Or prevent future mental sickness or suffering from occurring.

When we actually express likes or dislikes against certain food,

For example,

It has nothing to do with the substance of the food.

It has nothing to do with the food is actually good for us health-wise or not.

All the likes and dislikes are based on our karma,

Which is basically our emotional and cognitive habit that dictates whether we like something or not.

There are food that I like that's not really good for me,

Or there are food I like that are actually good for me.

Likewise with the food that I dislike,

Some are good for me,

Some are not.

If you allow your choice to be driven by your likes versus dislikes,

Some food you choose is going to be good for you,

Some food won't be good for you.

But as long as you're healthy,

Your body's healthy,

Even some food that you like are not good for you.

It's okay,

I'm sure you're able to deal with it.

However,

Those food that you like but are not actually good for you,

It's making your health a little bit worse each time you eat it.

But once you get sick,

But then once you're sick,

Bad food actually will make your condition worse,

So you should stop no matter how much you like it.

And if you're sick,

Even if you don't like certain food,

But if it's good for you and can actually help heal that disease,

You should eat it.

So when you're in a state of health,

Your decisions are bound to be driven by your likes and dislikes because the consequences of eating something that you like versus what you dislike are not as apparent.

But once you're sick,

In order to heal the sickness,

You can't allow your likes and dislikes to actually drive your choice because you need to eat something,

Even though you dislike it,

If it's good for you.

And you need to stay away from those things you like because it's bad for you.

In other words,

Once you're sick,

It's not your likes and dislikes that should be driving your choice in food.

It's how good is it for your sickness.

So normally,

As long as you're healthy,

It's your desires,

Your likes and dislikes,

That actually preferences that drive your choices in what you do.

But once you're sick,

That becomes the center,

Kind of criteria by which you make choices.

The reason I'm actually speaking long about this is that I want to try to describe the mechanism by which you make choices to try to explain this question.

So when you say you have difficulty doing things that are unpleasant in the near term,

Even though they're good for you in the long term,

That actually speaks to the current state of your being,

That it's not that bad,

You're not that bad off right now.

But that doesn't mean that you're making a wise decision.

But that doesn't mean that you're making a wise decision.

A wise person would,

Even though the situation is not dire or desperate,

Would actually modulate his or her intake of food so that you gear more towards those foods that are good for you.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

But if you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

However,

An unwise person would actually prioritize the immediate satisfaction of the senses and make their choices based on likes and dislikes.

This is almost like a rat going for the rat poison,

Thinking it's taking the rat poison.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So that's why I'm saying,

If you're not making a wise decision,

You're not making a wise decision.

So to summarize,

I'm saying,

The answer to your question is that this is not a matter of a technique that I can teach you.

The fundamental solution to your issue is the underlying motivation.

The fundamental solution to your issue is the underlying motivation.

You have to be motivated to do something.

At that point,

Different skills and techniques might make a difference.

But if you lack the original motivation,

Nothing will.

So in short,

There's no technique or skill that can satisfy your question.

So what you should prioritize is to gain that recognition,

Deep recognition that this practice is going to be good for you in the future and be committed to that.
