Welcome.
If you're listening to this,
You may be facing uncertainty.
Perhaps you're wondering what your symptoms will do tomorrow.
Perhaps you're questioning whether you're improving.
Maybe you're waiting for answers,
Navigating recovery,
Or simply trying to make sense of what your body is doing.
Uncertainty is uncomfortable.
Our brains naturally want answers.
They want reassurance.
They want a plan.
And when certainty isn't available,
The nervous system can become activated as it searches for safety.
For the next few minutes,
We're going to practice something different.
We're going to practice finding safety even when we don't have all the answers.
Let's begin.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath.
Notice the support beneath you.
The chair,
The bed.
The floor.
Allow yourself to feel that support.
And notice in this moment you are being held.
Now gently bring your attention to the present moment.
Not tomorrow.
Not next week.
Not six months from now.
Just right here.
Right now.
Notice the sounds around you.
Notice the temperature of the air.
Notice the rhythm of your breath.
Maybe the beating of your heart.
Notice where your body makes contact with the surface beneath you.
You may notice your mind trying to solve something.
Trying to predict.
Trying to figure out what comes next.
This is what human brains do.
There's nothing wrong with it.
See if you can simply notice that urge Maybe there's a place in your body where you feel that.
Noticing that urge.
See if you can gently set it aside for now.
Take another easy breath.
And ask yourself.
What do I know to be true right now?
Perhaps the answer is simple.
I'm sitting here.
I am breathing.
I am listening.
I am safe in this moment.
Stay with whatever feels true.
Now notice if there's any uncertainty present.
Maybe uncertainty about symptoms.
Recovery.
Health.
Life.
You don't need to push it away.
Just acknowledge it.
And then notice something else.
Notice that uncertainty and safety can exist together.
You can be uncertain.
And still be safe.
You can have unanswered questions.
And still be okay right now.
You cannot know exactly what comes next.
And still meet this moment with steadiness.
Allow these words to settle in.
Take what fits for you and leave the rest.
I don't need all the answers right now.
I can trust myself to handle whatever comes next.
For now,
I am here.
For now,
I am safe.
For now,
This moment is enough.
Take one more deep,
Easy breath in and out.
Notice the support beneath you once more.
Notice the room around you and remind yourself.
Safety is not found in having all the answers.
Sometimes safety is found in returning to the present moment.
Thank yourself for taking this time to pause,
Breathe,
And reconnect.
And when you're ready.
Gently continue with your day.
