Close your eyes and sit still or lie still,
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
This is a meditation about embracing the unwelcome and processing and digesting that.
So relax now on Papatūānuku Mother Earth,
Rest,
Really rest and let yourself collapse into her,
Remind yourself that you're a part of her,
Not separate and see how she can hold your weight as we rest on Papatūānuku,
Feel her gather,
All the soft parts of us in her arms,
And also the bits of us that are floating out there,
Our worries,
Our racing thoughts,
All the things that keep us distracted and make it hard for us to be present.
Whatever that is,
Welcome it all back to you,
Let it fall back to you like falling leaves and feel it in the soil of your own body,
Let it rest,
And rest with it,
And now let us reach out even further and embrace those far flung deep in night worries,
Those parts of ourselves that are so hard to acknowledge,
That maybe only the dream birds carry them,
Those things we find so hard to hold without fracture,
Let it fall,
Let it fall back into you like soft leaves into the soil of your body,
The shame,
The bad memories,
The worst things we feel about ourselves,
The doubts,
The blame,
Let it just all come back to the home that is your body,
And now let us reach for the pieces of us that are being held by others in their stories,
Disappointment,
Spite,
The bits buried in grief and rage,
Those pieces of you stuck in their stories of who you are and where they may hold you tight as failure,
Let it come to you and softly rest in your body,
Embrace it,
Fragments,
Shards,
Memories,
Moments,
Shadows,
Gather it and return it so softly so that we can finally tend to it in this place of pause and reflection,
Feel it all and notice where it rests,
Don't let it land in your mind,
Let it bypass your brain and pull it down into your body,
Into your own dark wonder,
The soil of yourself,
And hold it to your heart,
And breathe it in,
Let us hold onto it long enough for us to know what it means,
And for this moment,
Let us choose discomfort,
Over comfort for a moment,
Let us hold it and welcome it back into our bodies,
Feel it long enough for it to be experienced,
That which we do not want to hold,
Let us welcome it and let it land,
And know that you are not doing this alone,
And breathe,
And now feel yourself being held in the unconditional arms of earth mother herself,
She holds it all without breaking,
She holds us all,
Everything is home,
Everything you have ever felt and ever known is a part of her already,
And held and accepted for what it is,
And it's the least we can do for ourselves to put our own arms around ourselves,
Unconditional and accept ourselves for who we are,
And what we are,
Our excess,
Our distress,
Our ruined and wrecked,
The dream lives that died at our own hands,
The withered bloom of true love,
With its broken branches,
The wilted wanting,
The waste,
And now earth mother,
She harnesses rain and stream,
And gifts of fresh water,
And she pulls this liquid magic into our bodies that have carried us through all we have known,
Let the rain run through us,
A river if we need it,
A fast flush of flow,
A slow moving elixir,
A murmuring movement,
And shift,
In her hands is a fertilising forgiving flow of starlight and fresh water,
Poured into the hurt,
The harmed,
The damaged,
And dead,
The decomposing,
It is a forgiving fertilising flow,
Blood streaming refreshed,
Cleansing astringent,
Dissolving and dismantling,
Not washing the unwanted away,
But keeping it all in her fecund fertile arms,
This rich red mix of mud and blood and bone,
Where heritage seeds are finally birthed,
And grown in the soil that they have been sown for,
Much longed for embryos unfold,
Acts of daring,
Reaching for leaf like life,
Trusting they will thrive,
In conditions that we have all been waiting for,
The unconditional,
These long hoped for seedlings,
Reach out into the arms of forests of upstanding ancestors,
Dreaming themselves alive,
Through these kernels,
Now unfurling,
Uncurling,
Into their own nature,
Let us breathe,
The endlessly regenerative of it,
As she tends to all of us,
Equally,
Unconditional,
And see yourself,
Really see yourself,
The best of you,
And the worst of you,
All of you,
Is welcome here,
And held,
Let us go gently,
Through our cycles,
Of growth and decay,
Of disintegration,
Disintegration,
In order to reintegrate,
We go through this process,
Life,
Death,
Same as the trees,
Everything,
Let us let go of what no longer serves us,
Let us learn from the rich soil of our mistakes,
As we digest this,
We accept this,
With a forgiving and accepting flow,
Let us grow.
