Namaste,
Welcome.
Today we will chant the sacred Bija mantra GAM,
The seat sound of Ganesha,
Known as the remover of obstacles and guardian of new beginnings.
Let's begin by arriving in this space,
Take a moment to find a comfortable seat.
Let your spine rise gently and your shoulders soften away from your ears.
Close your eyes if that feels safe for you and bring your awareness to your breath.
Feel the ground beneath you,
Feel how it holds you.
Let it support you as we enter this sacred space of sound.
Let's take a few breaths together.
Take a soft deep inhale through the nose and sigh it out through the mouth.
Again,
Slow deep inhale through the nose and sigh it out through your mouth Just letting go of anything you're holding on to.
Once more,
Inhale and with the exhale arriving into the now.
Now let your breath return to a natural gentle rhythm.
The Bija mantra GAM is the seat sound of Ganesha,
The energy of removal of new beginnings or grounded clarity.
Ganesha is often called the remover of obstacles but more deeply he is the guardian of thresholds of transitions,
Growth and also the unknown.
Chanting GAM calls in the wise grounded presence,
It helps us clear inner and outer blocks,
Align with our deeper intention and move forward with steadiness and grace.
The sound GAM is simple but it's very powerful.
It starts with the soft G sound,
A guttural sound in your throat,
Followed by the open vowel A and finishes with a nasal sound N,
The Anuswara,
Letting the vibration resonate in your head and in your body.
So let's chant it together a few times before we go into the 108 repetitions.
To feel the soft guttural sound G,
You can place your fingertips on your throat and sound G sound as softly as you can,
G,
G,
G.
Yes,
That's it.
And for the A sound,
I invite you to relax your jaw open.
If you feel some tension in your jaw,
You can softly massage and allow your jaw to open.
Move your mouth a little bit,
Relax your tongue and then make your A sound,
A.
Really relax into the A,
A.
And then for the N,
For the Anuswara,
I invite you to bring your tongue up to the roof of your mouth,
So you make GAM,
Bringing the vibrations up and through your whole body.
So let's make two or three GAM together before we go into the chanting.
GAM,
GAM,
GAM.
Beautiful.
When you make the G sound,
Allow it to vibrate not only softly in your throat but also in your pelvic floor and in your diaphragm,
So all the diaphragm is really relaxed.
GAM.
Invite it to resonate also in your lower body.
GAM.
Yes,
That's it.
So,
Before we begin the full chanting,
Let's take a moment to feel into your intention.
If you have your eyes still open,
Close your eyes.
Maybe you wish to place a hand over your heart space and just listen inward for a moment.
Is there something in your life that feels stuck?
A place you wish to move forward?
Or simply a desire for more clarity and groundedness?
Hold this gently in your heart.
There's no need to force anything.
Just breathe into it.
Beautiful.
Now,
We will begin chanting GAM together 108 times.
Follow your own breath and rhythm.
You can chant aloud,
Whisper,
Or simply listen.
Whatever feels right in each moment.
If your mind wanders,
Come back to the mantra and let the vibration do the work.
So,
Let's start.
I will be counting with my mala.
Let's take a soft,
Deep inhale.
GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM GAM Last one.
Feel the echoes of the mantra inside your body,
In your breath,
In your mind.
Rest here in silence for a few moments.
You don't need to do anything.
Just be.
Gently bring your awareness back to your breath.
Begin to deepen your breath.
Gently bring your awareness back to the room.
Bring your hands together in front of your heart in namaskar mudra.
May this practice support you in clearing the path ahead,
Finding clarity,
Flow,
And courage.
Let's close together with one om and three shanti.
Take a soft,
Deep inhale for om.
SHANTI SHANTI SHANTANTI Namaste
