Hello and welcome to the third chapter of this mini-series on Balanced Business.

It's going to be a beautiful one called Pebbles of Purpose.

I'm recording it in the middle of the night after a thunderstorm that has charged me with energy and many inspiring conversations with aligned minds.

And this is contributing to my messaging today on how to form powerful purpose within your business.

Purpose is a grander,

Greater goal,

Something that you are going towards,

Something that you are maybe even serving,

Something that will help you change the world by the means of your business.

And Pebbles of Purpose is this title intended to bring a bit more playfulness and ease into the seemingly serious matter of defining your purpose,

Because after all,

Your business is still a part of you enjoying life and learning from life.

And when you define your purpose,

But you do it from the place of pride,

It is never going to really bring you joy and it can even destroy itself,

Like destroy the whole purpose because there is a thin line between being a hero of your own life and creating this self-importance,

Blowing it out of proportion,

And making yourself kind of the protagonist of the whole world,

Which is not the case.

But it is an easy temptation with defining one's purpose,

Especially when you are ambitious and you're a visionary and you think that you can alter the very fabric of reality with the words that you put on paper.

And inviting humility and playfulness can really discharge this excessive energy from the process.

So I'd like you to imagine yourself walking along the seashore and gathering colorful stones and pieces of glass polished by the sea and playing with them,

Touching them,

Listening to their sound,

And maybe arranging them in some shapes and mosaics.

This is the kind of energy I'd like you to invite when going through the practices of purpose definition.

And the practices are many.

Those are these playful stones and pebbles that you are gathering.

It is vision,

Mission,

Values,

Many things,

Mostly based on the art of word.

So let's take several of them,

Grab a handful of pebbles,

And play around a bit.

And you can do it regularly to check how aligned your business is with your integrate being that you have tapped into,

Hopefully,

In the previous episodes of this series.

So first of all,

There is a mission statement.

It doesn't have to come first.

You can do the values first,

For example.

Let's tackle the mission statement.

Mission is something that you can see even on company pages.

And it often is a bit abstract.

And if you're not really in the business,

Inside the company,

You may just get a little bit lost in it because it tends to use some words that are relatable for too many industries and too many people.

So it's not really a unique offering and proposition that would define and differentiate you from others,

But it is definitely something specific that is bringing meaning to your activities.

Something that you can read and take power from.

So it has to be authentic.

And if you're creating business together with other people,

Then you can invite them into mission definition.

So it is always good to derive the mission from your inspiration.

And hopefully,

Again,

From the previous episode,

You have got a bit of an insight into how to invoke your inspiration and you have sat with it and you have received.

And from this richness that was given to you,

You can take specific words and describe it into a statement of how you're going to make the world a better place,

How you're going to influence people,

How you're going to be creative.

And you can start with I or we for business,

Depending on whether you're alone or with a team.

And just write it in the present tense.

I do this and this for this and this,

For the purpose of this and this.

So use the action words describing what you do in the essence and some purposeful end goals,

Some impact that you are creating.

This is for the mission.

And then there are values.

Values are like threads of the fabric of the reality of your business.

It is this quantum energy,

The vibrational field of your business.

These are just words like keywords or hashtags.

And to come up with them,

You need to really sit in a place of calm and preferably after some physical practice in a really good emotional state when your body feels alive and can help you identify the words that resonate with you the most.

So it would feel,

If you're a sensitive person,

It would really feel different when you say those words.

And the words for values are quite common.

You can share them with many people,

But each person will input something different into the words.

For me,

Some of the values are love,

Freedom,

And connection.

What it means to me is probably different from what it means to you.

And there are much more beautiful words that you can use in your word cloud of values.

Just make sure that you create a practice around it and not just sit and brainstorm and write them on paper,

But really try to live through them with your very body and feel what resonates the most,

What sparks up your energy,

What sends excited shivers down your body.

Then there is vision.

To generate a vision,

It is also good to sit calmly and allow yourself to go through a meditation and use the technique of scripting.

So the meditative start,

At least some three mindful breaths to get yourself present is always a good beginning of such practices.

And then you can start imagining how you live and how you work and how you interact with people after you have completed some of your goals and realized some of your purpose.

So scripting is done in a past tense or present perfect tense.

Something that you have done,

Probably this present perfect is the ideal form for it.

I have created,

I have received,

We have gathered,

We have achieved,

And you can write down all of your bigger goals or components of your purpose in this way as if they have already happened.

This is vision creation and scripting.

And vision doesn't have to be limited to scripting alone.

It can be just an inspirational talk that you deliver to your team and you say,

Imagine what if the world is like this and you get them fired up for co-creation.

And we will talk more on the interactions with your team under the conscious leadership episode.

And this has been the practice of creating a vision.

Lastly,

Something that I'm studying myself and have studied for quite a while is storytelling.

I keep returning to this topic and now I've just subscribed to another course on it.

Storytelling is the powerful thing.

It's been with us ever since people have acquired consciousness and self-awareness.

And the stories are the foundation of cultures.

And when you are creating a business,

You are creating a culture.

And this culture needs to have its own story set,

Mythology,

Characters,

Someone who inspires you and who will inspire your team as well.

I hope these practices have given you an idea of how to play around with your purpose and bring it beyond just the goals and list of tasks.

Feel free to share your own additions to this list and I will enjoy talking to you in the next episode.

Thank you for joining.
