Good morning and awake and creative.
We're up to day 22,
Halfway through the desert,
Starting to see the horizon on the other side.
This wasn't intended to be biblically associated any more than it's intended to be associated to any great stories,
Proverbs,
Novels,
Poetry of our modern age.
That's what I believe,
That all written word is meant as guide.
It's meant to help train us up,
Give us an intellectual fodder to better ourselves into the world.
So today,
This 40 day journey in the desert,
As I'm associating it,
Is hitting on Jonah.
Very much like 40 days in the desert,
So was Jonah's time in that belly of the whale.
And so is all of the time that we spend in the darkness,
In the shallows,
In the shadows of our lives.
We're not stuck here.
This darkness and the shadow isn't created so that you get trapped.
These are simply part of the full picture.
For without shadow,
Without darkness,
You don't see the light.
We don't grasp the nuances of the beauty that can be ours in our life.
With all of the psychological counseling and advice that's out there in our world,
So easily found through technology today,
It can be confusing to understand when you are down or depressed,
Saddened,
Or laid low,
Thinking there's got to be a cure out there.
I challenge you today to sit in that belly of the whale if you are there.
Or to recall when you were last sitting in that belly of the whale.
And notice,
Either from this point or looking back when you were,
Notice how you may be in this deep darkness yet.
You can see light.
There are shadows cast because there is light.
This darkness is the time for you to grow.
It's a period in your life to experience an up-leveling.
You're not trapped.
The doors aren't locked.
The jaws of that whale are not clamped shut.
You are in process.
Go through it.
Stay with it.
Don't frenetically search for a cure,
But listen for the sounds and nuanced experience as you begin to move towards that horizon.
Awake and creative another day,
Today.
