It's only because we're here together that this feels like such a really nice reminder and it causes my heart to truly,
Here's that word again,
Believe in what I'm saying.
So showing up here more and more for me is a lesson in deep trust and continued perseverance in that regard.
So even if it feels silly,
As I was saying,
Give it a chance.
All these materials existed in some other form before they came to us here.
We draw our mind to this idea as well as our heart,
As well as our gut,
That place of instinct and intuition that knows this even if our mind says that's gobbledygook.
Let the mind have its word,
But we don't have to follow or listen.
We can keep persevering in connecting,
In identifying,
In trusting,
In appreciating even these inanimate objects,
These pigments of the earth,
Among other things.
This gorgeous paper,
Once a tree,
This raw materials from the earth,
Sand and stone,
It's all here.
It's all been transmuted to these new forms so that we can go on to use them in our own creative capacity.
It's pretty delicious when you think about it,
The opportunities we have in life to see and do and utilize in ways that weren't always available to humans in the past.
I'd like to think that maybe this is the way to connect with the higher purposing of humanity,
Of humans.
I don't need to say,
But it comes without saying,
I guess.
The converse,
Of course,
Is what's happening outside of our doors and windows every day now,
Unfortunately,
The misuse,
The lower vibration of why humans are here.
But we gather not to ignore that,
Not to deny it,
But not to give it energy through speaking to it,
Not to give it more energy through fueling it with our own anger,
But to stay a level higher,
To find,
Even when it's so difficult,
To find that one thing,
Those two things,
Those three things that we can be grateful for,
That we can appreciate and resonate with in love,
In excitement,
In anticipation,
That's what we're here for.
Let's take just about 15 seconds,
If you have it in you,
Before we begin to close our eyes.
Hopefully,
At this point,
Your eyes have fallen on all of your materials and caused your heart to open just a little more to the joy and possibility of them.
Now,
As we close our eyes,
We connect to ourself,
That mind space,
Sure,
But even the energetic field above it,
That space where existence happens before it comes into our consciousness,
Perhaps,
Traveling to that throat chakra,
The one I'm using,
To vocalize this imaginative journey with all of you,
Speaking,
But also hearing in the heart,
Where it rests,
Perhaps where truth lies before we even can identify what truth is,
Through solar plexus and guts,
Where we exist in this beautiful home of our unique body,
Our truth,
Our person,
Our self exists,
The self that called these materials to us in the first place.
I have to say a thank you to the materials,
But also to yourself,
It takes a lot to remember,
Without just going through the motions,
To remember that your self has chosen to be here,
In you,
With you,
In this form,
In this life,
With these materials,
And you get to,
With that.
Grab up your wet material and in keeping with the childlike wonder,
The beginner's minds,
Non-dominant hand,
Simply apply,
Whether you're using colors,
Or whites,
Or black,
Just a lie,
How it feels good,
No conscious decision to do anything in particular,
To create anything in particular,
But maybe once it starts to play with the surface of your canvas,
To follow where it wants to go.
It may become a circle,
It may become the outline of a landscape,
But that's up to this material,
This hand in motion,
This brush scritching over the surface before you.
As best you can,
Keep it to a really nice dry layer,
And then slow it down,
Maybe exhaust the capacity of that brush,
Release everything it has picked up through this slower methodical melodious musing of brush over paper.
And now to dry material,
I'm going to stand,
I prefer to use my whole body,
My whole arm if you will,
For this motion,
And I encourage you to do the same if your capacity allows.
I've chosen Caran d'Ache Neo Colors 2,
It's a wax-based water-soluble crayon,
As my dry material,
Because it will do that blending,
You know what,
Maybe we'll do this tomorrow too,
But right now,
We will do this tomorrow,
Unless I wake up with another brilliant idea,
Because that tends to happen every day,
I come up with the idea for that day,
Sleep on it,
Take two,
Non-dominant hand,
Give it expression on the paper,
Perhaps change it up,
A new two,
You thought it was awkward with one instrument in your non-dominant,
Be a little more conscious about what we are doing here now,
With this surface,
Whereas the last few days,
It's been more of just a response,
Without using your consciousness,
But just gently,
Take into account the composition that's occurring,
Not critically,
But expectantly,
The kind of expectancy that is,
Oh this is interesting,
I wonder what I can do with this.
As your dry material runs its course,
If you want to,
Pick up that brush once again,
And let it play back over this surface,
Say hello to those dry materials.
No more paint,
I didn't pick up any more paint,
Any more wet material,
I'm moving and utilizing what's already there,
I decided to grab my paper towel,
Wash rag,
And give it a little rub as well,
Why,
Just because,
Keep at it,
Keep speaking to your life again and again,
The answer is given.
