This 10-day course is about owning up to the fullness of your personal call to create, with no exceptions. The time is now. We work over emotions and their place in our body and being, before creative exercises.

Welcome.

Alright,

Shall we begin?

We are in a 10-day course.

Day 7 we're on of divine incubation,

Finding where emotions play and reside and play out in our practice.

Today,

I mentioned yesterday,

I hinted that this is one that holds court in my beingness alongside trust.

Today,

Day 7 is longing.

Longing for me,

And I'll get into this,

Is a motivator to long for something.

Longing.

Joan Didion quote,

We are well advised to keep on nodding terms with the people we used to be,

Whether we find them attractive company or not.

God dwells wherever man lets him in.

These two quotes draw me into the two directions of longing.

Backwards to change something and forward to find something.

I have a quote on my wall that addresses this pretty well.

It goes something like,

You've gone into my future to prepare the way and you follow behind to keep me from the anguish of my past.

So many would say that all human longing is for one thing,

God.

I don't know if this is true or not.

I think it's more true to say relationship.

Some may be able to find it ultimately intimately in God,

But for me it is somewhere closer to a bit of this unknown something deeper,

Richer,

Mixed liberally with the real that resides outside in my gardens,

My front door,

In hugs with family and friends.

Longing is a realization of all we have,

Purred to a wanting for more.

Is this how we are designed?

There again,

Some would say we need to cease longing,

Wanting,

And be content.

I argue this.

Longing,

Wanting,

Is a right,

Even I think a privilege,

For without it we would be without deepening relationships,

Trusting communications,

And heartfelt resolutions.

Longing is the heart's call for trust.

To fully experience this life as a human being,

We all need to connect with our desire to realize something larger than an individual selves.

So I propose that longing is more akin to what Thich Nhat Hanh said here.

This can be motivation enough to change our ways so we can find relief from the noise that fills our heads.

Let longing be a motivator to action that changes ways that have not served or to change into a way in which we serve.

Lunging.

Does this hit you in the heart as it does for me?

In the chest anyway.

Maybe that's the lungs.

Let's sit for a moment with this.

Close your eyes.

Turn your senses to this sensation.

Longing.

This is a time for me,

Time of year,

With EncastiCamp coming,

That longing is a very strong emotion.

Longing as it comes from fear and anxiety.

Longing for it to all go well.

Longing for everybody to be happy.

Longing for no disaster.

What is your longing for or for not?

Is your longing to get or to be finished with?

Determine this for yourself.

For yourself right now anyway.

And sit with it.

Motivation.

Let that be what wraps up in your longing and holds it tenderly.

Longing as motivation.

All right everybody.

Enjoy your time.
