Once upon a time there was a culture that was built on truth.
Well actually the truth was it wasn't built on truth at all but what was said in the culture was that it was built on truth.
But actually in this culture nobody really told the truth.
It wasn't really allowed.
It actually got frowned upon.
What worked was often using a great many words to say nothing or to talk around the truth or to kind of approach the truth and then quickly veer off.
So everybody walked around kind of actually quite confused and they had a lot of trouble with diseases like clogged arteries because you know if you're there's not much room for truth.
Sometimes there's not much room for the flow of your energies and so these channels get clogged and it would show up as clogged arteries and also heart conditions because you know the truth is the truth is close to our heart and if we can't if we don't feel we can live in truth or tell the truth it's hard on our hearts.
It's actually hard on our bodies to lie.
I mean that's what lie detectors you know measure.
And this was also really hard on kids because kids were told to tell the truth but actually when they did sometimes things didn't go well at all and often kids found that parents were kind of running from the deeper truth of themselves and so when kids spoke the truth that was close to their hearts this did not go over well either.
So they learned to do what was you know in the culture like to you know maybe act out or talk around something you know or go into addictions.
It's really if you can't have truth you can't really have God.
You know God's truth like God's like the rock what did Christ say you know build your house on a rock it's like build your house on the truth.
I mean it's true for anybody whether they're Christian or not you know the closer to truth we are.
So I just wanted to say all this because if you're getting confused by our culture I think it's pretty key.
We talk about the importance of truth but we're running from the truth in our hearts you know and it's really I think that is the big reason for mental illness.
I think either there's you know if you're running from the truth really deeply it is hard on your body and it's hard on your mind and if we had a better understanding that the truth instead of being hard and brutal like most of us feel it is the truth is really brutal underneath and so we run from it actually the truth is very loving it's profoundly loving.
It just doesn't feel like this at first.
We start saying you know the truth will set you free but you know first it will make you miserable.
So at first truth will seem harsh and unyielding but if you settle with it and sink into it it becomes very loving and very freeing.
Yeah I mean even something like necessity,
Necessity can be really freeing.
Makes life very clear you know it isn't always fun to be a necessity but there's some good things to it because when we start getting simple and clear we actually start functioning a lot better than you know if we're lost in confusion.
So I just wanted to say all this and just promote moving into truth a little bit more and just having a little more courage to be truthful with yourself and others and if you know as compassionately as possible put things gently but tell the truth and just see how it goes because I'll tell you in my experience a lot of my clients they there's a lot more room for their them to move into truth than they think and even if our childhoods you know we weren't allowed to we're grown up now we can have our truth we can have our lives we can have the life we're meant to live.
Okay bless your heart I know it takes courage but it's more rewarding.
Okay bless you.
