Today we're talking about the idea that rest is required.
Rest is required just as a field has cycles of sowing,
Growing,
Harvest and fallow,
So do you.
If you have been busy,
You must rebalance yourself via rest.
If you have been busy for many days,
Months or even years without resting,
Know that you will require an equally long time of rest.
There is no bargaining with your need for rest.
Being must balance doing the universe.
So wherever you are listening to this,
You're probably doing something or you are taking a break from doing something.
And what this teaching is saying is very specific.
It's not that we need to create balance in our lives,
That's important,
But this bigger statement that there is no bargaining with your need for rest and if you have been busy for many days,
Months or years,
You will require an equally long time of rest.
So if you have been pushing it really hard,
Maybe you were in school and you pushed it really hard for four years to get your degree,
You're going to need this time frame that's similar to the time you were busy.
Or if you were really busy as a parent raising kids for 18 years,
You're going to need this time frame.
It's not that you're going to need 18 years of doing nothing,
But with the times of production and producing and creating and doing,
You're going to need this opposite time.
The pendulum swings to the opposite time of resting and doing nothing.
If you're a creative person,
If you do a lot of creative output,
You understand this pretty well.
You can't just have output.
You need this time to sort of float around and do nothing and let your field be fallow and maybe there are seeds planted for something else or maybe there aren't even any seeds yet and you're just wandering around waiting for the next time of creative output.
This is a common,
Common cycle for creative people.
It's also a common cycle for spiritual people if you're doing a lot of deep meditation and having a lot of visioning and having a lot of information come to you or maybe you're channeling or receiving downloads.
That will happen for a while and then there will be this other time where nothing happens.
You're just sort of wondering like where are the guides and where are the visions?
And this is normal,
This cycle of receiving and resting or creating and resting or doing and resting.
The point is that the resting part is as important as the doing part.
We see this also in our lives,
In our sleep patterns.
If we don't sleep,
If we don't sleep we get sick,
We lose our mental health,
We lose our physical health,
We're unable to accomplish or do anything because we have not had the rest period that is required to balance the creating or the doing period.
So a lot of people get very busy and here's a good moment to check on how busy you are.
Mostly what I find in terms of people who are really deeply committed to spiritual practice is that they tend to begin the practice of paring down their schedule,
Paring down their day so that they're less busy.
And they know that when they do this,
When they pare their schedule down,
They're actually inviting more communication with the universe or more involvement with the universe because they're not distracting.
A lot of people have things that they have to do because they're required to do them,
They're very busy.
And sometimes this is true that they're required.
And sometimes we tend to overwork or overdo because we can't figure out who we are if we're not distracting in that way.
Or sometimes we feel pressurized because everyone else is doing something and why aren't we?
So I'd love for you to just kind of look at your own relationship to busyness and to doing and realize that rest is required.
Being must balance doing.
This isn't negotiable.
This is how you're set up as a soul and human body.
It's okay to rest.
It's okay to sleep.
It's okay to dream.
It's okay to do nothing.
This is all part of our spiritual process.
