Welcome,
I'm Skyler Liberty Rose,
And today's meditation is on trusting the timing of your life.
I invite you to get comfortable.
If you'd like to close your eyes then please do so now,
Or if you'd prefer to keep your eyes open just be sure to soften your gaze.
Let's begin by taking a deep breath in through the nose and then a slow exhale through the mouth.
How critical we can be when we cast judgements upon ourselves for taking the wrong road,
Choosing the other job,
Staying in or leaving the relationship.
How creative we can be when we imagine the life we could have had,
The opportunities we wouldn't have missed if only we'd chosen wisely.
How crushing the weight of regret as it sits on our chest,
Seeping its way into every new moment and stripping the present of any joy we might otherwise find.
But what if there weren't any wrong turns?
What if there haven't been any bad decisions?
What if it wasn't possible for us to miss our true opportunities?
Regret only ever steals time from us and adds a burden to us.
What might you do with the energy you've been investing in wishing away past actions?
How might you better direct that energy toward creating change in your life now,
Toward increasing joy in your life now?
Most of us are raised to believe that there is a template to what is widely defined as a successful life.
In order to be successful we believe we need to check a series of boxes that are expected of us by a certain age and in a particular order.
These societal expectations are so deeply ingrained within us that if we find ourselves not following that very specific path,
If our lives take a different turn or an unusual twist or if we simply decide that we want something more than the template we've been given we can often feel as though we're failing or falling behind.
We look around and we see other people's achievements.
We look at their material gains,
Their houses,
Cars,
Clothes.
We look at their relationships,
Their partners or their children.
And if we don't perceive ourselves to have the same success we start to question whether or not we're doing it right,
Whether or not things will ever work out for us.
Take a deep inhale,
Gently exhale.
Think of an area in your life where you're struggling to be at ease,
An area in which you feel you should have had more success by now.
With compassion and curiosity ask yourself is this want,
This belief,
This ideal that I'm yearning for mine or have I just been told over and over again that it is?
It's okay if the answer doesn't come right away.
It's okay if clarity isn't immediate.
Sometimes we just need to sit with the question.
But what this does for us is it opens up a whole new area of possibility,
A whole new way of thinking because we start to explore the ideals that we're striving for and we give ourselves a chance to discover,
To really discover if they are in fact what we want.
And if it turns out that they are what we want,
Why are they attached to a timeline?
Why must they be within our reach right away?
Are we living in the moment or are we missing it by grasping too tightly to what we think we have to have in order to be fulfilled or accepted?
If I find myself inhabiting a space where regret is impacting the way I speak to myself,
The way I treat myself or the compassion I have for myself,
I often use the light bulb analogy which I will share with you here.
Imagine yourself sitting in front of a mirror illuminated by light bulbs,
The ones you see in dressing rooms that film stars use.
Your reflection in the mirror radiates love,
Happiness and confidence.
The lights are bright and beautiful and so are you.
Remember this,
Every single time you waste energy on regret,
On past choices or wishing you had somebody else's life,
A light around your own life goes out.
One of those bulbs dies,
Your reflection loses a little bit of its sparkle.
Those bulbs need your life force to keep shining,
They need you to trust in yourself,
To bet on yourself,
They need you to be invested in lighting up your life.
Take an inhale,
Take an exhale,
Repeat after me,
Every decision I've ever made was the right choice for me at that time.
Every decision I make now is the right choice for me at this time.
I trust myself to say yes to opportunities that are aligned for me.
I am not too old and it is never too late.
I trust in the timing of my life.
Please know that you are not late to your own life.
You have journeyed to get here as best you knew how.
You have done what you felt able to do with the choices that were available to you at any given moment.
And your body has done its very best to show up for you with as much strength and grace as possible.
Speak kindly to yourself.
Sometimes,
In order to trust in the timing of your life,
You need to also trust in the unravelling of your life.
The dark and hard times when it feels as though you're spiralling into a space that cannot hope to hold you.
Trust that that space can hold you.
Trust that there is a return from that space.
A way to climb up.
A way to be free.
A way to choose again,
A new day,
A new hour,
A new time for you,
When everything is unfolding at the perfect speed,
Exactly as it's meant to.
Steer yourself in the direction you want to go in.
Put yourself in the way of opportunity.
And then surrender and trust,
Trust dear friend,
In the timing of your unique and precious life.
I invite you to take a slow stretch to bring your awareness back to the space you're in.
In your own time,
Gently open your eyes.
Let your gaze be soft.
Let your breath be easy.
Let your awakening continue.
Thank you for joining me today,
Sending deep love and gratitude from my heart to yours.
