A gentle meditation reading Psalm 107 from Nan Merrill's Psalms for Praying. Before beginning, there is time to settle and come to stillness, then, as the Psalm is read three times, plenty of opportunities to welcome the words or phrases that stand out to you to be received deeply and offer their gift. This version of the Psalms is not a direct translation but is kind, gentle, and intimate.

Welcome to the second part of Psalm 107.

Take some moments to gather in from your day.

To gather into this moment.

Settle into your body.

Settle into a comfortable position.

And simply breathe following the inhale and the exhale.

We are here together.

The beloved is here.

And as you arrive into this moment,

Into stillness,

Into letting go.

Is it possible to soften?

To sink?

To open to the tenderness of the beloved's love?

Notice how you arrive into this moment.

What is present for you right now?

Meeting how you are with compassion and kindness.

You are welcome here just as you are.

There is nothing demanded,

Nothing to fix.

Simply you here in your life.

In the story of your being.

I'm going to read all of these words through once.

And then focus in on a few verses twice more.

The second part of Psalm 107.

And know yourself.

Let your aim be to recognize who you are.

Aspire to live as sons and daughters of divine love.

To enshrine the earth with divinity.

To honor all relationships as sacred.

And to live in peace and in balance with all living things.

Acknowledge the sacredness of every path.

Albeit different from your own.

In this way you honor the great mystery and the wonder of all life.

Remember to always offer grateful hearts in thanksgiving to the one who lives among us.

Oh that you might learn to see with your heart.

To hear and think with your heart as well.

Many there are who boast of their own deeds.

Who are proud of their power over others.

Where will they be when the storms arise?

When earthquakes shatter the rocks of their hearts?

Only the humble will call to the spirit.

To help them in times of distress.

The wise wait not for trouble.

But communicate with the counselor in all things.

Enter the holy temple of your heart.

And learn to still the tumult of the mind.

For to be serene even in the midst of chaos.

Is to know the efficacy of calmness.

Peace dwells in the heart of silence.

Compassion and mercy abide there as well.

Come let us give thanks to the heart of all hearts.

Giving praise of the unlimited gifts of love.

Let us pray for the well-being of all life.

And learn to dance in harmony with the cosmos.

I'm going to read a few of those verses twice more.

And on this first reading notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.

Honor all relationships as sacred.

And live in peace and balance with all living things.

Acknowledge the sacredness of every path.

Albeit different from your own.

In this way you honor the great mystery.

And the wonder of all life.

Remember to always offer grateful hearts.

In thanksgiving to the one who lives among us.

And on this final reading of those verses.

Let them bring the fullness of their gift.

Notice how you are wanting to connect to the words.

What they're offering you and how you might want to respond.

With all love and grace.

And great goodness to you friends.

Amen.

The reminder that all paths are sacred, however different from our own is very helpful right now. And the practice of Gratitude as well. Many thanks Nicky and many Blessings 🌟💖
