If God is the truth,
Then your deepest sincerity is God.
If God is what's real,
Then what is real in you is God.
And isn't that what we're trying to get to right in this crazy human quest?
We're trying to find out who we really are.
But I was reflecting on this whole serving what's true thing and serving God.
And of course,
We could perceive God as out there,
Something we are serving.
And then if I look at the nature of what God is,
I could just say that God is the truth.
God is what's real.
There is the 10,
000 things that I imagine.
And then there is the truth,
What's real.
So how do you serve what's real?
How do you devote yourself?
How do you devote your life to what's real or to God or to whatever?
And what I find to be so beautiful is an invitation to serve what is real and true in you.
If God is the truth,
Then your deepest sincerity is God.
If God is what's real,
Then what is real in you is God.
And isn't that what we're trying to get to right in this crazy human quest?
We're trying to find out who we really are.
And not only that,
But we want to be honest.
We want to be authentic.
We want to be sincere.
We want to be what's real.
It's kind of like realizing that God's will is the truth in you waiting to move.
God's will for your life is your deepest sincerity being expressed.
And how much trouble do we create for ourselves by withholding that which is true inside of us?
And that's a weird way to think about it.
We're denying God,
Denying the truth.
But in a way,
You know,
It is sort of stark,
Direct.
Because again,
When I look at my own humanness and the self-created internal drama,
I see underneath it is a fear to just be what I am,
Fear what others will think.
And so I can deny that truth.
I can say,
No,
You can't be.
Could you imagine telling that to God?
That sounds like what the devil would do.
Right?
Do you see this?
I love the whole illustration of God and the devil for this specific point,
Because it illustrates such a nice picture where the devil is trying to be the main character.
The devil is trying to be God.
So what is that saying?
The lie is trying to be real.
It's fascinating.
And all of our parts that are pretending,
That are not speaking honestly,
That are not acknowledging what is sincere,
That is a lie trying to be real.
And it creates hell in the process.
We're tormented.
And of course,
In the Bible,
They have to tell stories like,
Hell is a great fire where there is gnashing of teeth,
Whatever that means.
But it sounds horrible.
But you see,
Because it illustrates in some way,
The mystery of our pain,
The intensity of self-torment,
How deeply twisted we can get on the inside,
To the point of what feels like a complete absence of love.
Of course,
You would describe that as a fiery hell.
And what is the solution to save you from such madness?
Turn your life over to God,
They say.
And I would say,
Turn your life over to your heart.
Same thing.
Free yourself.
And we all have to find out what that means for ourselves.
And if you are temporarily in a space of freedom,
Then you go love on others.
Then you go share it.
You know,
That's always been my favorite form of religious witnessing,
Is when the person doesn't have to say anything at all.
And there's just something about them where you want to be next to them.
That's a good vibe.
That's a good energy.
That's so not the experience I had growing up.
My goodness.
Please remember,
You're on a very sacred adventure.
It's super playful.
Life and being human is simply a beautiful landscape for you to explore the sincerity of your heart,
To discover a love that exists on the inside and release it into the world.
And the world could be your neighbor,
