Okay,
Welcome to the first ever moral meditations video.
I think I created this channel because I wanted to create sort of guided meditations that were basically something that I wish was out there but that I can't seem to find.
And that is meditations that have sort of a moral valence to them so that we can prepare for our day or reflect on our day.
And just thinking about how we can show up as the person that we'd like to be sort of preparing for that.
So let's start today with what would be maybe best done in the morning.
I mean you could do this at any point of the day but maybe morning is best.
So first sit by sitting up straight.
You could be in a chair or on a couch or what have you.
Maybe sitting up straight and maybe just start by taking a deep breath and just acknowledging that you're here.
There's probably all kinds of stuff that's calling you forward into the day.
Maybe you have work stuff going on.
You've got family or relationship stuff going on.
Let's just take a moment to just sort of feel ourselves in our seat with our backs straight and feet firmly on the floor.
And just sort of acknowledge that you are in fact right here right now.
Maybe just start by taking a couple deep breaths and just allowing yourself to sort of intentionally procrastinate all of the stuff you're going to have to deal with later today.
Let's just for the next couple minutes let's just leave that aside and be intentional about you know what I'm going to deal with that later.
So just keep breathing.
Take sort of a deep inhale until you're comfortably full.
And whenever you want just exhale.
I'm just going to breathe here for like another minute or so.
I want you to just let the breath come and go as it wishes.
Just allow yourself to sort of settle into being right here right now.
You don't have to breathe in any special way.
You just breathe into your chest and let it go when you're ready to let it go.
You might be hearing some sounds.
Realizing that there aren't any good sounds or bad sounds.
You might be hearing people walking around or people talking or noises outside or noises in the house.
All of that is just fine.
Okay.
So now that you're here let's take a minute to sort of think about starting off our day in the right way.
Now most of us,
If we're conscious of ways that we fall short in any given day,
We can sometimes sort of judge ourselves critically at the end of the day or even in the moment.
We can sort of think,
Oh you know I didn't handle that as well as I should have.
Or maybe I was rude there or I was short there or I let my ego get the best of me here.
Or maybe I was insecure here and reacted out of insecurity.
There are these things that come up each day,
Sometimes every day,
Depending on what sort of baggage you have.
I want you to call to mind ways that maybe yesterday or last week or in the last couple of days,
Ways that you feel that you've fallen short and you weren't quite the man or the woman that you wanted to be.
Just take a moment and think about it.
Just take a moment and think about it.
Now we're not going to lash ourselves for that.
We're not going to relitigate that.
We're just going to think about it for a moment.
Okay yeah,
That thing that happened the other day,
Maybe I didn't handle that so good.
We're just going to bring that to mind.
Again,
Maybe it's ego,
Maybe it's fear,
Maybe it's insecurity,
Maybe it's greed or whatever that came over you and made you act in a way where you didn't want to behave that way.
I'm just going to bring that to mind and sort of keep breathing.
Now with that image in your mind,
I want you to hold it gently and try to just be a neutral observer of that without beating yourself up over it.
That's not necessary.
And I want you to sort of travel back in time and think about,
You know what,
If I was the man or the woman that I wanted to be,
That I can be,
How would I do that differently?
I want you to just think about that.
It's interesting how the truth of who you might be is actually not that hard to find.
You know what's right.
And deep down somewhere you know who you could be.
I want you to breathe into that for a moment.
Breathe into moments of sweetness,
Of kindness,
Of patience,
Bravery,
Courage,
Truth.
I want you to breathe into the moments where you've been your highest self.
I want you to breathe into the moments where you've been your highest self.
I want you to breathe into that part of you.
And I want you to imagine that,
Imagine you could do it all again.
Imagine you're in a situation like that again,
But this time you have access to this more true version of yourself.
Keep breathing while you do that.
We're just sort of going to marinate on that for a minute.
Now we're gonna shift our focus to today now.
I want you to think about all the stuff that you're going to face today.
Now that you've sort of tapped into this more pure and true part of yourself.
More pure and true part of yourself.
And how you would have handled things in the past had you had access to this part of yourself.
And I want you to look forward to today now.
Maybe you're gonna be seeing your significant other later,
Or your kids,
Or your boss,
Or your co-workers,
Or classmates,
Or whoever it is that you're going to be interacting with today.
All the problems you're going to come up against,
And all this different difficulties that you might come up against today.
And I want you to just think,
How can I bring this goodness,
This sort of essential goodness and essential wisdom into all of my affairs today?
How am I going to be a better co-worker,
Or a better boss,
Or a better father,
Or son,
Or daughter,
Husband,
Wife,
Whatever?
How can I be just 10% more present,
Or patient,
Or brave,
Or honest?
How can I do that today?
What might that look like?
I just want you to think about that for a moment.
And breathe into that.
Be with that possibility.
And now that you've sort of breathed into that possibility,
We're going to finish up here.
In the last minute here,
I just want you to take a second and recognize that the mere fact that you went out looking for a video like this,
Or a meditation like this,
Means that something inside of you necessarily cares about itself.
In some sort of funny,
Abstract way,
This is an act of self-love,
Or something like that.
You want to be good,
And you want to be the best version of yourself that you know that you can be.
Let's take that in here as we finish up.
Okay,
Well,
Thank you for coming by the channel and taking this time to yourself today.
I hope it helps you center yourself and prepare for your day.
So,
Thanks for coming by.
