Before we begin,
I would like to sincerely say,
Clearly and gently,
This meditation is not about denying human love,
Relationships or connection.
It's an invitation to look sincerely,
With care and honesty,
At where our deepest longing for unity and fulfilment is being placed,
And whether the finite can truly give us what we are so sincerely seeking.
Now,
Nothing needs to be believed or rejected here.
Simply listen,
Feel,
And be still,
And rest as you are.
Allow what resonates to settle in its own way.
There is no right or wrong here.
No better or worse.
No should I or shouldn't I.
This is an open invitation into awareness seeing,
In the truest sense of non-duality.
Where love has timelessly been.
If there is any sense of lack,
Or disappointment,
Or expectation,
It is not with the other.
It is with the one who feels disappointed with any expectations or attachments that have been placed upon that which is finite.
This arises from a long-held belief in being a separate body identity.
A separate self that sees itself in the world,
Pursuing happiness through the senses,
Experiences,
And fulfilment.
This belief is the heart of duality,
And duality is the root of personal suffering,
Misunderstandings,
And dissatisfaction.
In the pursuit of happiness,
So much focus is given to the senses,
To attraction,
To the physical body,
Often becoming obsessive,
Pleasure-based,
Or consuming.
Yet what is truly longed for is something much deeper,
Beyond all finite pursuits,
Beyond physical attachments.
What is often mistaken for love is a veiled longing for closeness or intimacy,
Born from personal unhappiness,
Desire,
Or pain,
From a sense of lack,
Seeking wholeness through another,
Sometimes with obsession.
In the hope of finally feeling needed,
Complete,
And loved.
And so desire and seeking turn outwards,
Hoping for lasting fulfilment through connection,
From that which cannot provide it.
Through non-dual clear seeing,
There is the recognition of no external other,
And no separate individual seeking or needing love.
When we believe we are in the world,
We can become subject to it,
Defined by it,
Conditioned by it,
And vulnerable to it,
And conflicted by it.
Life then becomes one constant effort of competition,
To survive,
To control,
To possess,
To belong,
To find happiness,
Connection,
Meaning,
Purpose,
Or security.
And these never satisfy,
Because the premise was mistaken from the very beginning.
We are not in the world.
This imbalance is the foundation of duality,
The sense of separateness in human life,
The distance between success or failure,
Between feeling alone or feeling complete,
The distance between fulfilment and dissatisfaction.
This belief,
This sense of disconnection,
Is the root of personal suffering,
And the ground upon which the seeker journeys.
Searching for what was never absent,
Seeking an outer relief with that that can never fully satisfy.
One seeks unity with the finite,
Yet the physical cannot be what is unborn,
Whole,
Unconditional,
And eternal.
We try to find ourselves and satisfaction in places we were never located,
Reaching for that which cannot provide lasting fulfilment or the unconditional love of the heart's oneness.
And yet,
There is a love that does not grasp,
That does not desire.
When love is no longer entangled with need,
Grasping,
Expectation,
Or validation through form,
There is a love that does not ask another to complete anything,
A love that does not need to be proven or expressed in any particular way,
A love that does not fluctuate with desire,
Mood,
Or disappointment,
A love no longer burdened by a lack of communication,
Control,
Insecurities,
Identity,
Or expectations,
A universal,
Divine love of pure awareness,
Of abiding presence,
A love of compassion,
Care,
Respect,
Without dependency on anyone or anything.
And now in closing,
Rest here,
Just as you are,
Without seeking,
Without reaching.
