Hello,
And welcome to this guided meditation on talking to the inner critic.
For this practice,
We will be bringing the inner critic into our awareness and holding it with a sense of non-judgement and compassion.
So,
I'd like to invite you now to enter into your meditation position.
Take a moment to check in with yourself and sensing what is present for you right now.
Relaxing the shoulders and softening around the eyes.
Dropping the gaze or closing the eyes if that feels comfortable.
And we'll begin with three deep breaths.
So,
Breathing in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
And in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
And last time,
In through the nose.
And letting go.
I'd like you now just to drop into your heart space.
If it feels right,
You can rest a hand in this area.
Feel the warmth and light emanating from this centre.
And I'd like to invite you to bring the presence of the inner critic into being.
How does this feel?
Perhaps you feel some tension or discomfort in your body.
We're just going to be present with it for a few moments.
Now I'd like to invite you to say hello to your inner critic.
Does it respond?
If so,
How does it respond?
Perhaps a physical sensation arises.
A colour might come to mind.
Or nothing,
Which is also perfectly fine.
I'd like to invite you to ask the inner critic a question.
The question is,
How are you?
How are you?
And just noticing the response,
If there is one.
And be with that for a moment.
Now we're going to speak to the inner critic.
Thank you for all that you do for me.
Thank you for all that you do for me.
Thank you for caring for me.
Thank you for caring for me.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
And we'll sit with those affirmations for a few moments.
And just radiate some gratitude to our inner critic.
And again,
We're going to address the inner critic.
I know you want what's best for me.
But for now,
You can take a break.
I know that you're trying to look after me.
But for now,
You can take a break.
And just letting all that go.
And noticing what is present for you now.
And in your own time,
When you feel ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
And coming back into the room.
