Welcome to this morning meditation to start your day.
Get yourself into a comfortable position,
Sitting upright,
Maybe on a cushion,
A block,
Or your back against a wall.
Have your spine straight,
Your head lifted up towards the ceiling,
And take a breath in.
Let the breath go,
And start to close your eyes.
Let your focus be inwards rather than outwards,
And take a deep breath in through your nose.
And send the breath to the very bottom of your stomach,
And then exhale through the nose to let it go.
Letting go of your night of sleep,
And being here in this moment.
Let's take two more deep belly breaths in through the nose,
And then out through the nose to let it go.
One more time,
Make it the deepest breath of the morning.
Inhale.
Send the breath deep down into the very bottom of your belly,
And then exhale,
Let it go.
So next,
Set an intention for your day.
In yoga we call this a sankalpa,
Or a seed you're going to place inside your mind.
Now imagining your day ahead,
And at the end of today,
A feeling of gratitude for the beautiful day you just had.
A sense of peace,
Fulfilment,
And contentment with your day.
Imagining letting yourself lie on your bed,
Head on your pillow,
Completely satisfied with the day you just had.
Now imagining the day ahead,
Bringing your sankalpa back into your mind,
The intention for your day.
Imagining floating through your day with ease,
Contentment,
And with focus,
Getting each task or project complete.
Now imagining your focus goes on the task or project you're trying to complete,
And instead of feeling agitated with this lack of focus,
Taking a nice big inhale,
Sending the breath to the bottom of your belly,
And then exhale,
Simply letting it go.
Bringing your mind back to the task,
Whatever it is you have to do,
And completely coming back to your focus.
Now imagining throughout your day,
Feeling grounded,
Centred,
And disciplined.
Now imagining a difficult conversation with somebody that crosses your path today,
It could be a co-worker,
A family member,
Or just a stranger.
Now again,
Imagine losing your focus,
Your centre,
Your grounding,
But again taking a breath in,
And then letting the breath go.
And not letting the words or the actions of others break your focus,
Break your peace,
And simply moving on with your day.
Bringing your focus back to the here and now,
Whatever it is you need to do to follow your intention for the day,
Bringing your awareness back to this.
Now imagine moving through the day again with contentment,
With ease,
And then reaching the end of the day,
A smile comes to your face,
Thinking about the beautiful day you just had.
And even through any ups or downs,
Still feeling this sense of contentment,
Of gratitude for the day you just had.
Bringing the image of your face to your mind,
With a gentle smile,
Feeling this beautiful energy move through your whole body as you anticipate the day ahead.
Now with this beautiful energy coming back to your breath,
Inhaling,
And then exhaling to let it go.
Bring a gentle smile to your face as you flicker open your eyes.
You gently lift your hands and arms above your head for a stretch to start off your day.
Place them down on your lap,
And we get ready to begin our day ahead.
