Welcome to this meditation,
A journey into the heart of what it means to be human.
As we sit here together,
Let us acknowledge the beautiful,
Messy contradictions that define our existence.
The hypocrisy of our desires and emotions,
The constant tug between solitude and connection,
The yearning to love deeply while craving detachment,
And the paradox of wanting everything yet nothing at all.
These struggles are not flaws,
They are the essence of being alive.
This meditation invites you to hold space for these contradictions without judgment,
To breathe into them,
To accept them,
And perhaps even to find peace in their complexity.
So let us begin.
Find yourself a comfortable position where you can sit or lie down,
And close your eyes.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose,
And exhale through your mouth.
Let yourself settle into this moment.
Feel the weight of your body supported by the earth beneath you.
Notice any tension in your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Or your hands,
And let it soften with each exhale.
Allow yourself to arrive fully here,
Leaving behind all expectations or judgments.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice how it flows in and out,
Effortlessly connecting you to the world around you,
While simultaneously drawing you inward.
Reflect on this.
As humans,
We often feel torn between two opposing forces,
The need for solitude and the longing for connection.
Imagine these desires as two waves within you,
Rising and falling in their own rhythm.
As you breathe in,
Silently say to yourself,
I honor my need for solitude.
And as you breathe out,
Say to yourself,
I honor my need for connection.
Repeat this for a few breaths,
Allowing both needs to coexist without resistance.
There is no right or wrong here,
Only the ebb and flow of your inner world.
Now bring to mind the duality of love,
The desire to love deeply and completely while simultaneously yearning for detachment from its weight.
Picture love as a flame within you,
Warm and radiant,
But ever-changing in its intensity.
As you inhale,
Imagine feeding this flame with air,
Allowing it to grow brighter,
A symbol of your capacity to love fully.
As you exhale,
Imagine releasing any attachment or expectation tied to that love,
A gentle letting go that does not diminish its beauty.
Repeat silently as you inhale,
I embrace my capacity to love.
And as you exhale,
Repeat silently,
I release my need to control it.
Let yourself rest in this delicate balance between holding on and letting go.
Now turn your attention toward another contradiction,
The desire for everything life has to offer,
Alongside the yearning for nothingness,
For simplicity or stillness.
Imagine standing at a crossroads,
Where both paths stretch infinitely before you.
With each inhale,
Feel the excitement of wanting everything,
Possibilities expanding like a vast horizon before you.
With each exhale,
Feel the peace of wanting nothing,
Contentment settling over you like a soft blanket.
As you inhale,
Repeat silently,
I welcome abundance.
And as you exhale,
Repeat silently,
I welcome simplicity.
Allow yourself to rest here at this crossroads,
Knowing that both desires are valid and that you do not have to choose between them.
Inhale,
I welcome abundance.
And exhale,
I welcome simplicity.
Shift your awareness back to your entire being,
This complex,
Beautiful human existence filled with contradictions.
Breathe deeply into your heart space,
And silently repeat,
I am human,
I am whole,
I am enough.
Let these words settle into every corner of your being,
As you rest in the truth that it is okay to hold opposing desires within you.
It is okay to be both light and shadow,
Longing and contentment,
Attachment and freedom.
When you are ready,
Gently bring awareness back to the room around you.
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
And stretch if it feels good for you.
And open your eyes,
And take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And exhale through your mouth.
Carry this sense of acceptance with you as you move through your day,
The understanding that being human is not about resolving every contradiction,
But about embracing them with grace.
Thank you for showing up today,
And for holding space for all that you are.
Namaste.
