Welcome to the Grounded Sleep Podcast.
My name is Jordana.
That's right,
I'm not David.
His voice didn't change.
David asked me to guide you into sleep tonight.
Let's get that well-deserved rest.
Are you ready to get into bed?
If not,
You can pause.
I'll wait.
Put your softest pajamas on.
Turn the lights out.
Maybe you have some essential oils that you like to put on before bed.
I like to use a little bit of lavender on my wrists.
You can rub it on the wrist points and breathe it in.
Even if you don't have any,
You could pretend to do it.
Take a deep breath in and then exhale fully.
Climbing into bed,
Do any moving around that you need to do.
Make yourself so comfortable.
Feel the mattress supporting you as if your body could melt right here,
Right now.
As you get ready to drift into dreamland,
Tonight I want to tell you a story.
Long ago in a far,
Far away land,
A land of rolling hills,
Energy-efficient cars,
And $15 green smoothies up on the fifth floor in a beautiful windowed office.
Long before I was your sleep guide,
I worked as an executive producer in,
Maybe you guessed it,
Los Angeles.
So I used to look out these beautiful picturesque windows,
And I would dream about those windows opening and just flying out.
But those windows of that fishbowl office,
They didn't open.
Maybe they knew that I wanted to fly away,
And that's why they were always closed and there was no latch.
But every now and then,
I'd look out those windows and I'd get these pangs of discomfort,
This sort of feeling in my gut that things weren't right,
That there was something else for me,
Something else outside of those glass walls.
It started like a whisper.
Maybe you can relate.
Have you ever heard this voice in your head whispering something?
But it's so quiet,
You know?
It's so easy to ignore it.
You can dull it.
You can mask it.
That's what I did.
And the mask,
It was busyness.
It was this,
I'm too busy to do anything but this mask.
It was work really hard and stay out super late,
So I fall asleep without thinking about what I really want,
Mask.
But I knew that underneath that mask,
I wasn't really living my life.
I knew that there was something more,
Something undiscovered.
My busyness,
It was just masking my ability to really live my life.
I was living by to-do lists.
And one day,
After one of these pangs of discomfort,
I wrote F-E-E-L on this list,
Feel.
And when I got to this checkbox,
I just fell apart.
I cried and I cried.
It had been so long since I had felt anything at all.
And I know you're wondering what happened.
Well,
First I got better at feeling,
I got better at pausing,
And eventually,
I even shifted my life.
Let's take a deep breath together.
Inhale through the nose,
And then open the mouth,
Sigh it out.
So tonight,
As we dissolve into sleep together,
We'll just start by noticing if there are any unresolved feelings coming up.
And we'll make space for those feelings.
We'll make space in just accepting them,
Maybe even welcoming them.
And then we'll let them go so that we can sleep and restore ourselves into total well-being.
And if nothing is coming up for you,
That's perfect too.
You can use the feeling sleepy.
So you might begin by saying to yourself,
It's okay to feel.
It's okay to feel.
And you might say to yourself,
I welcome all parts of me.
I welcome all parts of me.
Notice what feeling is with you right now.
Is there a place in your body where you feel this the most right now?
Sometimes it shows up in the belly.
Sometimes it's in the heart,
The chest.
Sometimes you can feel it in the shoulders or the face.
Notice where this feeling is for you.
Maybe it's in a few places.
Take an inhale into this place.
As you exhale,
Imagine this feeling moving away from your body,
Being absorbed by the support of your mattress.
See it totally dissolving.
Try it one more time.
Take an inhale into this place or these places in your body.
And as you exhale,
Imagine it leaving your body,
Being absorbed by the surface beneath you,
Letting it go.
And now let's all try sleepy together.
Where in your body do you feel sleepy?
You might scan from the toes up to the tip of the head,
Seeing where in your body you feel sleepy.
Do your legs feel sleepy?
Do your hips feel sleepy?
How about your belly?
Maybe your back,
Your heart,
Your arms.
Your throat,
Your neck,
Your forehead.
Is there sleepiness in your eyes?
Breathe into all of these places that feel sleepiness.
And as you breathe out,
Feel yourself melting into the sensation.
Feel an expansion of your sleepiness.
And give yourself permission now to move deeper into this sensation.
It's time to totally let go.
You've done enough today.
Your will surely come.
Today is complete.
Right now,
This is your time.
This is your time to rest your body.
This is your time to rest your mind.
This is your time to tuck all thoughts away into bed.
To let your soul go in the washing machine to cleanse,
To allow yourself to be renewed.
So you might repeat the words in your mind.
It's okay to totally let go.
Let's try one more deep breath together.
Breathe in,
Fill up,
And then let it go.
Exhale,
Relax.
Notice that your exhales now are becoming longer than your inhales.
That any residual feelings,
Tension,
It's all been accepted by you in your mind.
And because you have accepted it in your mind,
You're able to let it go as you breathe out.
All heaviness from the day,
See it disappear.
Feel your entire body blissfully drifting off into dreamland.
And maybe as you go,
Bringing a smile to your face,
A wish for sweet dreams,
For dreams of fully living your life,
For dreams of waking up restored,
Renewed,
And ready for whatever gets to come next.
It's such an honor to drift off to sleep with you.
Have a blissful sleep.
I'll see you on the other side.
