Hridayakasha Dharana - Exploring The Inner Heart Space
In this meditation, we open to the point of light within that represents the seat of the soul, which is unaffected by the fluctuations of mind and emotions. We feel the prevailing emotions within the heart as energy, in order to begin the process of purifying the heart space of repressed samskaras (afflictions). This mediation has a therapeutic effect; the main aim is for the cleansing of the past, allowing the blockages to be cleared to assist in ascending to higher planes.
Transcript
Hridayakash Dharana The Full Exploration Come to sit in a comfortable meditation posture with the spine and the head straight.
Relax the hands in meditation posture on the knees or in the lap.
Close the eyes.
The first few moments,
Observe the physical body,
The physical posture,
Becoming still and motionless.
Observe the body mentally,
Move inwards and observe the position of the spine,
The legs,
Head and the whole body.
Feel the entire body simultaneously.
Complete awareness of the entire physical body.
Feel the breath.
If there's any tightness or tension in any part that you notice,
Take your breath there,
Take your attention there and consciously release.
Maintain calmness and quietness of the body and mind together.
Notice the breath,
The natural flow of the breath,
Soothing ebb and flow of each breath.
Let your mind come into the body,
Into the space of the body,
Into the friendly darkness.
And your awareness pulls away from the world of the senses.
And you are relaxed in the inner solitude.
Become aware of the feeling of space,
Inner space,
Stillness,
Steadiness.
Increase your awareness of the stillness in the inner space.
Bring your awareness to the region of the chest.
Become aware of the space encompassed by the ribcage,
The heart space,
Hridayakash.
Observing the space between the sternum in the front and the spine in the back.
See the space between the spine and the ribcage.
See the entire space from the diaphragm up to the shoulders.
As you breathe in,
Feel the space expanding.
As you breathe out,
Feel the space contracting.
Expanding the heart space with the inhalation and contract with the exhalation.
Total awareness of the space contained within the chest,
The heart space,
Hridayakash.
Feel the infinite space saturated with silence and stillness.
As you continue observing the silence and stillness that pervades the space,
You will notice the external movement of the thoughts and the senses cease as well.
The body and the mind experience the same sensation of expansiveness,
Stillness,
And silence.
This is the result of concentration within the heart space.
Looking into the space of the heart enveloped in darkness,
Become aware of a tiny flame of light,
A dot of light.
See it internally,
A flame of golden light.
Deep in the heart space is always the point of light.
According to the yogic tradition,
The individual soul resides in Hridayakash in the form of the flame or point of light.
Hrinyagarbha is the golden womb.
It is the flame and holds the soul.
This flame,
This point of light,
Is unaffected by the winds of desire,
Emotion,
Ambition,
Lust,
And fear,
And all emotions.
It is the real you.
It is the Purusha,
The light.
Unaffected,
The spirit,
Beyond the mind,
Beyond the body,
Beyond experience.
Acknowledge that you are.
I am not the body.
I am not the mind.
I am experiencing.
I am not it.
I am that.
Visualize the flame of light in the heart.
You might notice it flickering or brightening and fading to a glow.
Brightening and fading.
Becoming aware of the pulsation of light.
Notice the space is momentarily filling up with light,
And again the light recedes to a glow.
Exploding and imploding.
Look into the heart space.
Become aware of any prevailing feeling that exists in the heart space.
And allow any feeling that arises in the heart space to transform to a sensation in the body.
Observing the reaction in the physical body.
Allow the inhalation still to expand,
And the exhalation to contract.
And allow all the sensations,
All the emotions that are manifesting within the heart,
To be energy.
Allowing with complete observation.
Do not dwell upon any one feeling or emotion for a long time.
Just give yourself enough time to recognize,
And then develop the feeling converted into silence,
Contentment,
Peace and light within yourself.
And completely allow the existing feelings without resistance,
Converted into a feeling of silence,
Happiness,
Peace and light.
Continue to observe.
Let them flow.
Feel the vibration of each sensation and each feeling.
And feel the energy of peace supporting,
Encouraging and strengthening your inner being.
Continue the awareness of the space of the heart.
And allow contentment,
Light,
Happiness and peace.
Become aware of the feeling that exists right now within you.
Whatever it may be.
Feel the sensation.
Whether it is a feeling of anxiety,
Worry,
Tension or any other.
Allow completely.
And then convert it to peace,
Contentment.
Continue observing dispassionately.
Observing deeply with inner serenity,
Stilling the vibrations of the heart.
Remain a witness,
A detached observer,
To all that is arising in the heart space.
Stilling the vibrations of the heart.
Now we are no longer going to observe the natural feelings that arise.
We are going to create a feeling.
Try to intensify and feel and observe the colour that arises simultaneously.
Take the feeling of love.
Experience the feeling of love and increase its intensity.
Notice the colour that arises within the space.
Let your heart pour out of the feeling of love.
Experience the feeling of love with total intensity at your command.
Observe the corresponding colour manifesting naturally along with the feeling of intense love.
To intensify,
Think of something that would stir up this deep feeling within you.
Do not experience it in your head,
In Chidakash.
This awareness process is taking place in the heart.
After we have now created a feeling and observed it with full intensity,
Then we are going to change it.
Create the feeling of silence,
As if you are sitting in the depths of the ocean.
Be aware of complete silence all around you.
Silence which pierces every part of your being.
Make effort to experience the silence which passes through each and every pore of your being.
Each and every cell of your existence.
We now go back to the moment you were born.
There is no conscious recollection of that moment.
But deep within you,
The experience of that moment still exists.
Try to feel it.
Feel yourself taking birth again.
Try to face what you felt then with intensity.
Now change to the feeling of anxiety.
Intensify.
Aim to feel extreme anxiety.
Don't just think about it.
Now recall a disturbing,
Upsetting experience that may have happened recently or further back in your past.
Feel the sensations in the body.
Think of someone or something that stirred up this kind of emotional response.
Observe the color.
Observe the feeling within the heart space.
The color pervading throughout the entire heart space.
Change to the feeling of sleep.
The feeling which is experienced just as you are drifting off.
Feel yourself floating in the boundaries between wakefulness and sleep.
That momentary awareness which comes every night at the time of sleep.
The feeling is right there.
Awaken it.
The memory of drifting from consciousness to unconsciousness.
Gradually drifting.
Drifting.
Change to the feeling of silence.
Then to the same feeling of sleep.
Change to the feeling of contentment.
Change to the feeling of strength.
And the feeling of happiness.
And the feeling of peace.
Looking deep into the heart space,
You see the point of light,
The golden flame in your heart.
Feel it steady and still.
Remind yourself,
I'm not the body.
I'm not my thoughts.
I'm not my past experiences.
I am.
.
.
Next,
Become aware of your earliest childhood memory.
Recall the memory.
Recall the earliest memory which you can remember.
See the event unfolding before you.
Do not allow yourself to be distracted.
Remember your earliest childhood memory.
Unfolding in the form of a movie.
A picture happening in front of you.
As you dispassionately observe,
See the unfolding events within the inner eye.
There is no personal involvement except for the recalling of that event.
Once the whole event unfolds before the inner eye and finishes,
Then continue to find an even earlier memory.
With total intensity of the recall faculty,
Observe the earliest memory.
Go as far back as you can in your life to the earliest memory which is there.
Dispassionately become aware of the earliest memory.
Observe and introspect into this memory.
What does it mean?
Does it convey something?
Does it carry an emotion?
What has it taught you?
What feeling did it leave you with?
Dissect this memory.
Dissect this memory into little pieces.
What were the words in the recall of this memory?
Words that may have been spoken to you or about you.
What were the actions?
What were you doing?
What were others doing?
Who were the actors?
What was their mentality?
What is their relationship to you?
In what space and time did this memory take place?
What was the emotion?
What was the feeling that you felt at that moment?
What was the emotion that you felt at that moment?
What was the environment?
Feel what needs to be felt and allow what needs to be understood.
With total awareness be aware of every detail in relation to yourself and in relation to the other actors in the memory.
Whenever you feel the awareness dissipating,
Focus yourself into the heart space.
When you are centered in the awareness of the heart space,
Continue to be aware of the earliest memory of your life.
And now,
After dissecting this memory,
Center your awareness in the vision of the heart space.
The vision of the golden light in the heart.
Feel the openness of the heart space.
The infinite space pervading your whole body.
Become aware of your physical body now.
Feel your meditation posture.
Feel the weight of your body.
Externalize the mind.
Become aware of your body in the room.
Listen to the sounds.
Notice your breath.
Breathe in deeply and chant OM three times.
